Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up, but these "little" changes and additions seem like the tip of the iceberg for a fully reinvigorated franchise mode in 2021.

I think it’s fair to get your hopes up.

Rebranding/Relocation is easily the biggest ask of the franchise community as a whole and it is in this year

If full minor league roster is additional slots, that has been a request of the “hardcore” franchise community for a while now.

I know I’ve said it before and people are skeptical but in talking with the devs they want a lot of what the community does

To be fair, relocation "rebranding" has to be more in depth then just an edit of the team name and team location.

Can the cpu do it? Will there be a new stadium? Will weather be different based on the location? Will there be realignment of divisions if you move an east coast team west?

Those are all things that make it a true franchise feature. When they added real salaries and touted it as a big feature, it was nothing that we as an end user couldn't already do through roster edits. Logic changes were needed to make it a true feature and that never was implemented. Players make more in arbitration than free agency. After an existing contract is up they sign for less in their prime than the real life contracts.

As far as full minors I am hoping for more teams and roster spots. Although real player likenesses would be nice, it is similiar to real contracts, the end user can edit the rosters.

While we don’t know how in depth it is right now, it is a start and something that can be built upon in the coming years.

If it wasn’t in people would be up in arms that it’s not in.

There have been alot of features that have been added and we have hoped would be expanded.
1. Top prospect list
2. Trade finder
3. Real salaries
4. Updated budget
5. Morale system

All of the above need logic rewrites to make the mode effective. In all honesty many of them are purely cosmetic and have no impact on the experience.

Top prospect is just a rating/potential tag

Salaries is just a spreadsheet they added real salary to starting roster.

The budget system is very complex when if the attempt was to make more user friendly is in fact more complicated. I have yet to see any news outlet explain team budgets or player salary in weekly terms. Shouldn't need a calculator to figure out what the budget is and what is available to spend.

I don't understand why you are defensive. In no way did I insult your view or disagree. What I stated was that there have been features that are requested and to "assume" they will be expanded on would be naive.

People have been saying for years “next year I think they will fully reinvent franchise mode”

I don’t know why people still buy into that, count me in the group of preparing for nothing exciting and believing it when I see it

2021 is when the game will be out for the ps5, that is why I am buying into it. I think that with the new console the devs will have a ton of pressure to dive deeper into all of the game modes, not just franchise.

I still don't believe we are getting full minor league rosters with real players. I think, and my thought has always been, that they are expanding the roster slots for the minor leagues to increase the organizational roster size from 90 to 100+, which is needed because right now there are too many good players left over in free agency due to the roster constraint that 90 roster spots puts on teams, making it extremely difficult to balance between prospects, role players, journeymen, and MLB Players.

Wonder if this will fix the Franchise glitch where players retire....fingers crossed....but anyway...


SDS won't even pony up for a Nike check on catcher's equipment, do you really think they will spend the money on being able to add ACTUAL MINOR league player likeness? This game makes them SO MUCH money. It's a shame they don't spend some of it to make the game as authentic as possible.

Here's a thought...LET US CUSTOMIZE WHATEVER WE WANT. WHERE'S DESIGN-A-GLOVE/CLEAT? 2K can figure it out...why can't SDS? Why are we forced to choose between 3 team colors and a slew of over-saturated, off colors like OLIVE and TEAL...we can make whatever color we want in DD? How hard can it be to implement that into the rest of the game? Super Mega Baseball lets you do it...why can't SDS? Where is their money being spent?????

Yes, this is the area where it get's dangerous for them.

The likeness doesn't have to be there to exonerate them from a lawsuit. NCAA got in trouble because they made it so obvious that they were creating college athletes.

Without the likeness, they have a better defense if they were to be sued, but if they re-create names and attributes for enough people, not having the likeness probably wouldn't be enough.

And I can't see them seeing that as a risk they're willing to take.

I remember years ago 2k used to have top prospects in the game, but they’d change their names and just have the same initials, for instance Pete Alonso would have been something like Phil Alvarez and they couldn’t even get away with that and had to stop

10 extra roster spots would be a huge deal. There are a lot of issues that are caused by the lack of roster spots. Good players languishing in free agency is one. Unrealistic injury rates and a hard cap on injuries is another. Restrictive trade environment is a third.

10 extra spots wouldn't solve all of the issues, but it could go a long way towards solving them.

Are the good players sitting in free agency due to a lack of roster spots or just bad roster logic? When I see teams carrying a 49 rated C prospect with good players available in free agency I get the feeling more roster spots won’t fix the problem

There are dozens of stadiums in the game to choose from. Weather is already in the game and will remain. Realignment is unlikely to occur. I like the NL Central. I'm going to relocate a NL Central team to somewhere in the Midwest.

It's a fantastic addition. The ability to create your own team name, uniforms and logos and be the owner/GM/Manager of the team. In effect you become Connie Mack.

I've never played in a stadium other than the default.

If you switch stadiums before a game does it reflect the weather of that stadium? I.e. Yankees home game before the game I play in LA in April. Will it be NY weather or LA?

I'm not saying that it will not be a nice feature. What I am saying is the logic needs to accompany it or its superficial.

Currently I can add sponsorships in franchise but the CPU can't. I don't use it because it is an advantage that the cpu doesn't/can't utilize.

And Nike catchers equipment has been killing me for years that we still don’t have it in the game!!!
