I fear there will be a lot of disappointed people here once we get the first roster set. I can see more of the "key" prospects added, but also a lot of fillers and fictionals. Hope we're wrong, but I just don't see anything more than what you said here...

I'm thinking along the same lines, "We added XXX real minor league players to the roster" feels like the 'best case' to me with just adding slots to the A-level being the most likely outcome.

Truth is I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right. In fact if I was a betting man I would bet that you are right. I am choosing to be optimistic. I don’t think SDS would have highlighted something as “full minors leagues” just to underwhelm everyone

IRL there are around 7,000 minor league players. In the show it's around 2,000. A frequent complaint has been lack of a full minor league system. My guess is that is the complaint SDS is taking care of.

I can't see how SDS would get 7,000 players with no collective bargaining unit in the game. Maybe there is a way around it's the same reason college sports games were shut down after the O'Bannon lawsuit. There is no way to get thousands of college football players individually to sign some sort of agreement.

It's possible MLB agreed and set up a framework for all minor league players to sign an agreement. If that's the case then there will be actual minor league players.

I'm a carry over franchise player and I've played this game long enough to see the potential potholes. Have they created 6,500 worthless players to populate the minor leagues who have zero chance of making the majors? If they create too many good players eventually every team will be stocked with superstars at every position.

Have they expanded the amateur draft to 30 rounds? If so have they completely revamped scouting? The current scouting system doesn't allow for time to scout enough players to fill 30 rounds. Are we going to return to year round scouting like we had before? For me that was tedious.

There is a lot more to this if they want to get it right than just flooding the game with several thousand more players. If they don't get this right it could wreck the game and in that case I'd prefer the current system.

The whole thing has me excited, confused and cautious.

Excited because it looks like they are finally adding to Franchise Mode. I don’t recall SDS ever being misleading when promoting a new feature. And I don’t see how “full minor league rosters” could mean anything but minor league players. If they were just adding Single A and Rookie League teams I would think they would refer to it as something like expanded rosters.

Confused because adding minor league players would be a huge deal and take a ton of work. And they don’t even mention it on the trailer or rewind. Social media and you tube are talking about moving franchises and full minor league rosters more than anything else and are acting as if it is a confirmed fact both of these are happening.

And cautious because of all I stated above and I try to keep my expectations reasonable.

so if 90-man organisations are bumping up to say, 125-man rosters, is that really ‘‘full’’ minors? unless Sony knows something from MLB's inside and short-season, rookie leagues and foreign rookie leagues are all going the way of the Dodo, then I guess 125 man rosters would be full. but I dont think Sony knows what's going to happen for sure on the MiLB retraction front. I dont believe MLB knows for certain either. but the more I think about it, I believe cb is right in interpreting full rosters as more slots as opposed to being filled with real prospects. and if there are going to be double the amount of minor leaguers to be edited into real prospects, somebody might have to dig up Knight and get him back on the OSFM project lol

I am sticking to single A being expanded to 26 roster spots.

And that is what SDS is touting as full minors. If it is more than that then that will be awesome!!

OSFM will still be the go to roster set for those wanting real minor leaguers with faces, stances, equipment, correct pitch types and swings etc.

They do a fantastic job and that is what I always wait for. Well worth it.

right now I'm pretty conflicted, dont know for sure which way I lean. cb makes a good point that full minors may mean more roster spots. on the other hand I have been so ingrained over the last 10 years to think of ‘‘Full Minors’’ in the OSFM context. either way, I'm still excited.

I don't think them not saying anything in the gameplay rewind about it has no bearing on what the phrase Full Minor League Rosters means to them.

I honestly don't think we are getting real minor leaguers, although for those who are really looking forward to it and want it, I hope that I am 100% wrong.

But as I said a few posts ago, I think this means more roster slots and full Single A rosters and additional roster spots for Rookie league.

I think overall rosters are going to go from 90 to 110-115, although if they hit 125 I'll be extremely happy!!!

I would love it just as much as the rest of us to get full minor leaguers out of box to bring a "start early " feeling back to franchise and play spring training earlier..and i sure hope im wrong and they are in, i really do, but to be honest they easily could have just meant added roster spots,which is literally nothing much of anything to market on a stream schedule you would think..but since the 26 man roster is a thing now they had no choice but to add extra slots..so i totally see them marketing it off as some addition when its clearly out of nescessity.As far as the 2 names those are typical cap fictional names from the audio database..which leads me to think thats all they are just simple names we already see. it wasnt a name featured that we had never seen in the database..think about all the names theyd have to add to the database.. if they did all the minors..did they really record announcer audio for all of those names?something to think about and i sure hope they went above expectations and really did this in some form.

I'm not sure it is either...but the fact it IS Wade and Jimenez has me less excited. If I am looking at the right guys on B-ref, both are older "prospects" with marginal upside. It's not like we're talking a Sixto Sanchez or Wander Franco here. "Glass half full" guy says, "they added more obscure guys to the trailer that only diehards would catch to make it harder to catch on to" (SDS does like to toy with us on the Easter Eggs). "Glass half empty" guy says that they were just able to negotiate with some career minor leaguer types and not necessarily all minor league guys.

I guess we'll see...

(of course, none of this really matters much to me since I'll be carrying over my franchise....but it is still fun to speculate a bit)

I’m a SDS fanboy but my hopes are tempered by the fact that after having all year to fix it Michael Chavis is on the End of Season Live Roster with zero options. My thinking is whatever it is they give us it will be the Full Minors team that take it to the next level

this is sort of the line of thinking I went down. let's for the sake of argument say we still have 90-man rosters, SDS wouldn't have room to put every teams 225+ players and prospects, so might be what they did was sent a waiver around to every MLB team to distribute to their affiliations and anyone who was willing to sign is who they populated the minors with. IF that's the case, I'd still bet 90% of minor leaguers would agree to sign a waiver allowing their likeness in 20.
