I feel like the gameplay pre-updates was better, smoother and more fun then '19. Now after 14 some-odd updates it plays almost exactly like '19. It can still be fun but it is what one makes of it.

Graphics are eye popping. The sounds. The subtle things. Some warts? yeah, sure does. But a beautiful game where I get so much variety and there are times where each pitch has me on the edge.
Same here. I’m 44, played some good sports games and some real bad ones. MLB The Show has always been a fun time of the year.

might i make a suggestion: the mound visit is your friend.

            It's baseball - it happens.

Had a situation the other day in my 1997 file that coulda been disastrous. Had Bob Tewksberry pitching. Ground ball specialist. Bases were loaded. Nobody out. Just a mess of some stuff that was quite realistic. 3-2 count I visit the mound. Got a K on a sinker low and away. Then got an inning ending ground ball.

What I LOVE about this game is how momentum really is captured and how you have to think, adapt and adjust. Remember what a guy did to you. Move your pitches around. Throw outside the zone to make them chase. And if necessary, yes, go to your bullpen instead of waiting one or two batters too late.

Had an interesting game last night. Reds and Cardinals. I've never ever been no hit in any show game ever. And Flaherty was just filthy. He no hit me all the way into the ninth inning. He proceeded to walk a batter, Then a wild pitch. 2 outs.

Brought up Suarez who he had already struck out twice. Suarez lines a sharp single to left. No hitter gone. shutout gone. And the game is over because it was 0-0 and that ended it.

              Crazy.

This game is a s_$t show this year and it's ALL AI related. Absolute mess. Playing the game is fine, graphics are fine, what they are trying to accomplish is fine. How they are trying to accomplish it, and how the AI is managed is a horrible mess and totally ruins trying to play a franchise. You could play single games all day long and pretty much have fun with it, but everything else is ruined by the AI. I wish diamond dynasty had these issues so they would actually get addressed.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread

After these latest updates - I'm seeing two really bad things:

                  1) balls on errors that are just warping - some of them badly. It looks terrible. Not all the time, but bad hop plays suddenly look nerfed.

                  2) some really bad running decisions by AI baserunners. If you (as the user) don't come up on a ball directly, the AI will just let a guy keep running. Unfortunately, I've probably gunned down runners taking extra bases that never should have happened. I've played with some baserunning sliders - but nothing works.

This is a solid game - but have to admit, these two things are garbage and are starting to ruin it for me.

I'm seeing animation glitches on auto-fielding when the player dives for a ball or makes an error. It's kinda like a split-second scene skip.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but in '19 and '20 no matter the team I play as, i.e. highly rated or mediocre I play .500 ball in franchise play. That's through 3 seasons with several teams and various rosters. If I drop difficulty it becomes an arcade game and franchise play goes stale either way.
Thankfully the classic rosters have pumped life back into my enjoyment of this game and I will keep playing.

Yeah there are problems just curious to hear specifics from you. They have addressed the fielding issue to a certain extent but my big problem is this. Example: a ball is hit to the right fielder but he isn't highlighted the Center Fielder is who is off Camera. This makes for a hairy moment I'm thrown off and some times miss the switch other times the unhighlighted fielder takes over and makes the play automatically very frustrating.

Lol. I haven’t heard the name Bob Tewksbury in 20 years. Definitely makes the all time names list

I hadn't thought about Tewk in years but a couple years ago I came across a great little baseball book he put out, 90% Mental. fascinating read, I'd recommend to anybody who enjoys those type books

I'm in early September in year 1 of a franchise and just discovered the joys of "Strikezone 3" camera angle. I can't quite pinpoint what makes this view so much fun for hitting, but It's amazing. It's harder than the catcher off set I was using before, as the fastballs seem to come in with a lot more zip, but it's so satisfying to square up a pitch. Somehow, and I have no idea why, but it feels much closer to being in the box. Anyhoo, thought I'd share, as I've been playing this game for years and this was a fantastic new discovery for me.
