            First impressions:

Nice cover boy love, but those hoping for the dramatic effect some of the previous intros had will probably be disappointed.

Second thing I'm hit with upon starting the game is an option to set my dynamic difficulty starting point. Cranked that baby up to HOF right away, which is the top starting point (HOF+ exists, and I'd assume Legend does too, you just can't start from those). Still going to save me a lot of time.

Balanced video option runs great during live play on default cameras, can see the drop to 30 FPS in most off-play scenes. Faster holds 60 FPS in some off-play scenes (especially closeups) drops lower but not quite 30 in others. Didn't bother with Sharper. So in summary, I don't have any technical issues with the game thus far (at Wrigley), this was all expected.

Not a huge fan of needing to hit L2 for the lineup/defense breakdowns. Even in broadcast they will not play unless you do. I am seeing plenty of actual off-play scenes in Broadcast that don't require a button press, but it feels weird to have to initiate those. No homers yet, so I don't know how that's gonna go.

2 innings in and Cross-Eyed Clyde Washington already has me pining for the robot umps...

Jack Flaherty is nasty. This has been a very "three true outcomes" kind of game so far, minus the homerun.

The "one and done" throwing meter has me being really careful with my Pure Analog fielding. It does work, but throwing to second to start double plays is going to take some getting used to - I yellowed two DP attempts with Bryant and it cost me two runs.

The "Contact" part of the PCI seems smaller than the overall size of the PCI from last year, given the same matchups. It reflects that PCI has always been an estimate of the hitter's overall ability at the plate, which includes contact, power, and vision. So, now that Vision has been seperated from it (the big outer circle) the contact zone is smaller. Interestingly, hitting has been a pretty good challenge so far on HOF with that smaller PCI. We'll see if that continues.

Saw a nice end of inning screenwipe of Flaherty (who else?) striking me out to end an inning.

Perfect-Perfect is going to be hard. Just the way I want it.

Will add more later as I play through this game - not sure if I'll make an edit or another post.

Not a fan of Don Mattingly and wanted to replace him, but the choices are flat out awful. Not one real person/with a scanned face. Absolutely horrible looking CAP managers. What a let

down. Many of the ML coaches, same story. My carry over franchise got screwed too. I at least had real coaches on almost every team. Well, most of them got dumped and now I’ve got all these PS2 looking coaches replacing them.

Good news - broke through against Flaherty in the 5th for 4 runs, including my first HR of '20 off the bat of Anthony Rizzo. Not a Perfect-Perfect, but a fly ball pulled right down the line that hit off the RF video board just above the basket.

And the best part? No hitting L2. The base-rounding played out in full, followed by an automatic replay showing the flight of the ball and the exit velo.

He will be. They still have 200 minor leaguers they are working on getting in the game. With the new ability to add real minor league players into the game, there is "paperwork" that must be done and they are still working on getting that done.

-The Royals, Mets, Astros, Padres, Cubs, Phillies and Pirates managers are not in the game.
-Franchise mode is the exact same as last year.
-Oakland's third deck still has tarp on it.
-The game plays smooth on balanced. No frame rate issues like last year.
-The rosters are missing some major prospects.
-Coca-Cola Bottle is in at Oracle Park.
-The left field wall scoreboard still does not work at Great American Ballpark.

Just got a perfect perfect hit with directional hitting and that bat sound was amazing! I didn't even look at the hit feedback I just knew it from the sound of the bat.

Bryce Harper has black sleeves and shoes again. Why? He was the cover athlete last year and they clearly updated his player model. Its a small thing but it’ll bother the hell out of me in March to October.

I'm loving this game so far. However I am having bit of trouble getting used to the new fielding aspects. I keep over throwing the ball too as I am having a hard time with the new throwing meter, but that should be something I get used to.

I mostly play with the Indians, but where the hell is Gavin Lux? Number 2 prospect in baseball and he is nowhere to be found. Plus he has MLB service time. Hope maybe a patch today will add him. I enjoy playing as the Dodgers but also was thinking about trying to trade for him in MTO as the Indians.

So my early impressions are not too great. The game looks amazing, as it has been for the last few years, but I definitely see a few bugs. They aren’t major, so it’s just me being picky.

My main issue is hitting. I’m not claiming to be a top hitter or super skilled at the game (I don’t play DD, so I never go against players), but I definitely feel a difference from ‘19 to ‘20. I played 2 games, very small sample size I know, but I couldn’t make solid contact at all. First my settings are directional; I played a game on Dynamic difficulty (at All-Star) and I played one on HoF. In both instances, the pitch speed felt so slow. I had 53 early swings compared to 8 late, in the first game. In the second, I had 71 early and 20 late. I even increased the pitch speed twice in the second game, but still had early swings. I was getting weak contact all game. I’m sure it will get better with some adjusting, but damn it wasn’t fun. That’s just my thoughts though.
