Cardinals split mini 2 game series with Cubs

For the first time in the 2028 season, the Cardinals did not lose a series, as they split the mini 2 game series with the Cubs.

The Cubs won the series opener roughing up Carlos Martinez in the process while the bats stayed silent. The series finale behind a dominant pitching performance from Kyle Funkhouser (8 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER, 15 strikeouts, 2 walks), the bats woke up to the tune of 8 runs on 12 hits including 3 homeruns, 4 doubles, and a triple. Funkhouser notched his first win on the season in his 3rd start despite him leading the majors in strikeouts (35), IP (22 1/3), and ERA (0.72).

The Cardinals will remain home as they welcome the Nationals to town for a 4 game weekend series.

Cards place Roberto Osuna on 15 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed RHP Roberto Osuna on the 15 Day IL due to a shoulder strain. Osuna was removed after just 3 pitches in the 8th inning of Saturday nights game against the Nationals.

Osuna had struggled this year with a 10.80 ERA and 3.01 WHIP in just 5 innings of work this young season.

The Cardinals will recall Jesus Cruz from Springfield to take the vacant roster spot.

How do you get playoff rotations to reset for the 2nd round? I.E. I swept the division series and in the NLCS the Dodgers have Walker Buehler back starting game 1 after their own 3 game sweep. But he is opposing my 4th starter. I can move my guys around to match up but it causes problems with morale. Any way around this?

I don't think there's a way to do it to where it reflects on the calendar; I know my rotation often looks out of whack if/when I have a starter miss a start due to injury and it usually doesn't correct itself until an extended break like the All-Star Break. If your other pitchers have full stamina, you can just manually select then in the pre-game menus.

I didn't think about just selecting from the pitcher screen in the pre game menu. That's a good idea to keep from causing problems with morale. Thanks.

              Cardinals take series from Nationals

The Cardinals won their first series of the 2028 season by taking 3 of 4 from the Nationals over the weekend in St.Louis.

The Cardinals won Thursday and Friday before dropping Saturday's game. They recovered Sunday to earn the victory and their first series win of the young season.

This series the bats were present as the Cardinals scored 27 runs in the 4 games. Pitching was strong outside of Saturday when Austin Gomber got roughed up again and the bullpen couldn't hold on to a tied game in the 9th.

The Cardinals are off on Monday as they await the Los Angeles Dodgers for a 3 game mid-week series.

Will the A.I refuse to use Relievers if they are in certain spots on the rotation? I seem to remember having 2 players as Setup Man would cause only 1 to be used most of the time.

This is actually an issue caused by pitching staminas and how the AI interacts with the problem of keeping a bullpen rested. Raising pitching staminas will cause the AI to utilize their bullpen properly.

I currently have all pitcher staminas at 8.

                    Cardinals swept by Dodgers

The Dodgers walked into Busch Stadium 3 straight days and took the Cardinals to the woodshed, sweeping the series and scoring more runs in the series opener (14) than the Cardinals did all series (8).

The Cards bats were silent and the pitching would've been better served using a pitching machine to at least save arms.

The Dodgers hit a whopping 13 homeruns in the 3 game series and tallied a total of 43 runs in the series.

The Cardinals will look to rebound on the road in Baltimore as they face the Orioles for a 3 game weekend series.

Well....I always imagined there would come a time when I would hang up this carryover save from MLB '16 and start fresh and that time has come.

With Y2Y saves not being in '21 and the fact that the improvement to fielding is a checked box on the list of gameplay "issues" I was hoping to see improved/fixed, I have decided that now is as good as time as any to hang up this franchise and start fresh with MLB '21.

Its been a hell of a ride that encompassed 12 virtual franchise seasons, playing every pitch of every game from Spring Training to season's end, that spanned over the course of 5 installments of the game, and saw my team win one World Series and had the unprecedented anomaly that the Yankees never made the playoffs (only team in my 12 seasons). Its hard to hang up and walk away, but the gameplay improvements alone (fielding most notably) and the fact that Y2Y saves are gone, I can't foresee myself not playing '21. I know I could play 2 franchises, but I only want to focus what time I have for playing my franchise on just one.

I hope that Y2Y saves return in '22, but if not, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, thanks to everyone who followed along with this franchise and I look forward to the challenge of taking the current version of my beloved Cardinals through the rigors of a franchise year or few and test my ability to build and win pennants and World Series Championships.

                      Come on April 16th.
