Daniels was also the MVP of the Postseason! I didn't expect much from him in the trade, was supposed to be a back up but I was hitting so good with him I started him in RF which is his secondary position. I couldn't start another franchise without him! BTW, the updated rosters are really good!

Hello again Cub Fans! Len Kasper & Jim Deshaies back again for exciting Cubs baseball!

Well this offseason was a busy one for the Cubs. Not so much on the field but the Cubs now have a new General Manager in Cal Varnson. Cal's first move was to bring in his own guy, so Brandon Palmer the current manager and his entire staff were let go.

Ed Harmon, 58 yrs old was hired as the New Cubs Manager, When asked about the move Varnson said "We have a group of veterans here and I thought the best move was to get a more experienced manager to be able to handle not only the vets, but also the first and second year players, Ed fit the bill perfectly for us." The Cubs signed Harmon for 3 years at about 1 million per year.

As the Cubs get ready for Spring training there will be some spots up for grabs. "We're pretty sure we know who our starters in the field are, so this spring will be a battle for the bench. We have about 6 spots to fill and 11 guys trying to grab one of those spots" said Varnson. Varnson also added to the mix by making a trade with the Angels for 1b/Rf Marcus Daniels. " I got a good feeling about this kid, there's just something about him that makes me think he's gonna be a factor in 2020"

The bright spot for the Cubs has to be the starting rotation. With Ace Edwin Rodriguez leading the way The Cubs feel they have a solid 4 starters, with Tanner Wood, Casey Lockheart and Tyler Reynolds. The 5th spot will be up for grabs for Jeremy Lilly, Jamal Tatum, Akira Nakajima and Mark Gassner.

With ace Edwin Rodriguez's contract expiring at season's end Varnson was asked about a possible extension this spring."We are definitely looking to keep Edwin around as a Cub. We have a few other guys we are looking to extend as well". Edwin Rodriguez's agent said he hopes to have it done at some point this spring, hopefully it will happen and Edwin can continue on as the Ace of this staff.

As spring training rolls along we should get better picture of what this team will look like as a lot of guys will be battling it out for a few coveted spots. So for now, this is Len Kasper & Jim Deshaies saying so long everybody, we'll see you in Arizona!

Hello again Cub fans, along with Jim Deshaies I'm Len kasper and we welcome you back to Spring Training 2020.

Well JD, we're 12 games into spring training and this team can't seem to get anything or anyone going. They are 5-7 and are averaging just under 3 runs per game. Len, the offense needs to step up. I know it's only spring training but habits are formed here. The Cubs have been leaving a lot of runners in scoring position and just not getting that big hit when they need it.

On the other side of the ball, the starters have been outstanding except for the guys fighting for the 5th spot. No ones seems to be standing out from the pack as they all have been getting knocked around. The bullpen has been horrific so far except for 1 or 2 guys. They have a stud closer in "super" Mario Oquendo, but they have a hard time keeping a lead and getting the game to him. I asked the GM Varnson about the bullpen struggles. "We see what you guys are seeing, everyone seems to be struggling but hopefully we can get this sorted out pretty quick. We like what we're seeing from a couple of the younger guys and I'm sure when the season starts Ed and his staff will have these guys ready to go"

There's 15 games before the games start to count JD, hopefully the offense will pick up and some of these arms get straightened out.

Hello again Cub Fans, well the new Cubs GM Cal Varnson didn't like what he was seeing from his bullpen and has pulled the trigger on a deal. The Cubs get Reliever Hitoki Oshiro from the Oakland A's in exchange for catcher Randy Dixon. Here's what Varnson had to say."Hitoki is a veteran guy who can stabilize the back end of the pen for us. Hitoki and Tracy Stewart will be our setup guys and hopefully we will be able to get the ball to them with a lead and they can hand it off to Mario to finish things off. As far as trading Randy, you have to give quality to get quality. Randy has a cannon for an arm and is a great clubhouse guy. He will be a great addition in Oakland, we wish him nothing but the best" While the Cubs have shed the 3 million owed to Dixon in this last year of his contract, they do take on Oshiro's 2yr 10 million contract. Hopefully this trade works out for both clubs.

Well JD we have more breaking news, and this is big! The Cubs have indeed extended their ace Edwin Rodriguez to the tune of a 5 year 116 million dollar deal. We will hear from Edwin a little later on. That's all for now, For Jim Deshaies, I'm Len Kasper, well see you tomorrow for more spring training action as the Cubs take on the White Sox from Sloan Park. have a great night everyone!

Hope you have better luck with Hitoki Oshiro than I did. I was only able to get 3 or 4 good outings from him. He ended being a last resort in the pen and I eventually sent him back to Oakland.

oh no! First it was Starks you warned me about now Oshiro! I was intrigued by him because of his splitter perk.

Maybe he just didn't like the move down the coast to San Diego [emoji3]. It got to the point that unless I had a huge lead I didn't risk putting him in. He'd either give up a first pitch HR or allow multiple hits. I'd trust Starks 10 times over before Oshiro lol.

Well, my 2051 Athletics and their 124-38 regular season record (my new high mark) just got swept in the ALDS by an 86-win Orioles team. Hilarious.

So long story short, yes I know too late, I will be starting my long term (please don't restart for the 300th time) franchise with the Brewers. House rules to follow.

So I started a franchise tonight. And although I’m only a few hours into it... I think this is gonna be one I’m gonna have fun with... I always like doing rebuilds. And with fictional rosters, I wanted to implement a fantasy draft. But instead of going through players I have no clue about and trying to pick out the best ones, I let fate take care of my roster. I didn’t auto draft (kind of) but instead, for every pick, I would hit square to bring me to the recommended player. But to take it one step further, instead of taking that player I used a random number generator... and I used 1-20. Whatever number would generate, I would scroll down that many times and take the highlighted player. Made it fun because I usually end up taking young talent. And the result was actually satisfying. I ended up with an interesting roster and sets up really nicely with a future rebuild.

I hope to continue to give updates on how my season goes.

                          We’re the Phillies.

I'm fighting off the Rangers and A's to win the AL West with my Stros. Midseason trades (auto) has our team looking a little different from the start of the season, but I like where we are now. Christian Weber is leading the AL in hits and steals. Blondie Peña is 3rd in the Cy Young race but he won't win. Too many losses (8)
