Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
Padres 30 Wins Away from the Playoffs?
August is here and the race to the playoffs is hotter than ever. The Padres (65-46) have 51 games remaining to get to the magic win total of 95. Although the Padres went just 13-12 in July, San Diego still find themselves in 1st place in the NL West. The Padres continue to rely heavily on their pitching staff. Come mid-July the rotation should be back to full strength with the return of Greg Dickerson. The question is will Dickerson be the same pitcher he was prior to the injury. Dickerson was having a career year but suffered a pectoral injury that could hamper his throwing motion. As the season comes to a close the Padres are still hoping to kick their offense up a notch. Increased offensive production will be a key area of focus if San Diego hope to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
- Kole Robertson was the NL Pitcher of the Month for the second consecutive month with a line of 4-0, 0.75 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 5 games. For the season in 23 starts Robertson has a 14-1 record, 1.34 ERA, 228 strikeouts in 161 innings. Robertson is considered a front runner for both the MVP and CY Young awards.
- The Padres pitching still backed by the strongest defense in the league boasting a .991 fielding %, committing only 35 errors.
- With 23 saves so far, Train Lucas has moved to no. 10 on the all-time saves list with 351.
Around the League
- MLB Best record: Boston 70-40, worst record: Cleveland 42-70
- HR Leader Clinton Lake, Dylan Clark, Mason Franklin tied with 33.
- Wei-Sheng Chang leads MLB with 16 wins

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
35 games left in the regular season. Sitting in first (76-51) with a slim 2.5 game lead over the Rockies who seem to mirror every win and loss we rack up. So if I want to hit the magic win total I have to go at least 19-17. So basically don't suck and play slightly above . 500 ball for the remainder of the season. Last year we collapsed in the final stretch of the season going from 1st to 3rd and missing the playoffs on the last day."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Padres Look to Finish Strong
With only 24 games remaining San Diego's sights are locked on making the playoffs for the first time since 2010. As we head into September the Padres are only 2 wins away from matching last years win total. Staying on top won't be easy though with 12 of their remaining 24 games coming against division opponents.
NL WEST:
85-53 | Padres
82-58 | Rockies
75-64 | Giants (Defending World Champs)
70-70 | D-Backs
64-74 | Dodgers
Standouts:
(SP) Kole Robertson continues his pursuit of both the MVP and Cy Young. Through 28 appearance last years Cy Young winner has a line of 17-2, 1.45 ERA, 272 K's and an even 192 innings pitched.
(RF) Percy Hopkins looks to have been the free agent steal of the season. Hopkins is having one of the best seasons of his career. So far Hopkins has a .264 BA, 31 HR (T-6th), 70 RBIs and 27 Doubles in 349 at bats.

Full game against the Cubs. Exciting game from start to finish. The hunt to reach 95 wins continue.
*Editors Note*: Previous mentions of the Padres last playoff appearance stated 2010 the last playoff appearance was actually 2006 NLDS.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
Just hit a 11th inning walk off with Rex West. Speedy McGee hit a blooper then stole 2nd. They had to be careful with Rex because I had Dylan Clark, the league leader in homeruns behind him. Anyway, I get it to 3-1 and guess (although I do not use guess pitch) that they may try to go up and in, which they do with a 92mph cutter, and BOOM!!!! Straight out to left field at 112.2mph.
This game is so fun and Bacon's rosters are amazing!!!Comment

A couple more storyline updates to post and that will be a wrap on my Padres Franchise until The Show '21 comes out. All the games are complete and did some GM work up until the Winter Meetings, thought that be a good stopping point. ⚾⚾"Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

The Drought is Over!
September 28th, 2021 - The season maybe over for most of the MLB but for the first time since 2006 the Padres will be playing October baseball! The Padres clinched the division with 6 games remaining with a 3-2 win over the Rockies. While San Diego could rest easy knowing they were playoff bound the last month wasn't without it's struggles. The infield was dealt back to back blows with Willy Benavides going down with a broken foot and days later losing Jackson Gorzelanny to a torn groin muscle. To further complicate things pitcher Greg Dickerson went down again. Dickerson had just comeback from a shoulder injury and will be out for a few days with a pulled shoulder. Dickerson is expected to be ready should the Padres opening series get stretched to a 5th game.
For the opening series the Padres will face the Phillies. San Diego (97-65) and Philadelphia (98-64) with their nearly identical records and are evenly matched on paper. The series will be one of the more exciting opening round match-ups. The Padres stout defending and pitching with a league leading .992 FLD %, and 2.66 ERA versus the Phillies offensive fire power with scoring 775 runs and .438 SLG %. Game 1 of the NLDS is in Philadelphia, Kole Robertson and Tom Shields get the starts for their respective ball clubs.
Key Players Padres v. Phillies:
Padres:
- Kole Robertson (SP) | 19-3, 1.49 ERA, 324 SO in 223.1 IP
- Percy Hopkins (RF) | .258, 35 HR, 79 RBI ,31 2B

It's make or break time. Facing elimination the Padres hope to extend the series to game 5. The fate of the Padres season is in the hands of 24 year old Michael Money. Coming to you from San Diego, a pivotal game 4 of the NLDS is up next.
