I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Update 1.05
Appreciate the explanations on the trading thing tabarnes and Josh. I'll probably pull up the default roster and play around with it a little.
Do either of you know why this same thing occurs after a fantasy draft, where teams should be able to draft for their needs? They did actually fix that logic this year so that MLB teams will actually have a bench, but the trading thing in the first two months still happens.Comment

Re: Update 1.05
Everyone's going to have differing opinions on this (see the 1.04 thread), but I don't feel like any of that will affect offline play. I actually thought a DD Extended Play (VS. CPU) game I played felt different at first, but after thinking about it some and playing a while longer I'm willing to chalk that up to confirmation bias. I didn't realize the notes were only talking about multiplayer at first - I thought it was referring to all of Diamond Dynasty.
This game will mess with your head sometimes.
The confirmation is what's stated in the notes, to answer your main question.
I am a little disappointed because I feel the CPU throws too many meatballs and as result Human HRs are up this year. I have got it down to respectable levels with sliders, but I hate having to play "God" too much, especially considering how well the game plays (IMO) otherwise.Comment

Re: Update 1.05
Team rosters need to have proper positional balancing before firing-up franchise (they will stay balanced afterwards); if they don't, then wonky stuff will happen as they attempt to fill those positions. It's the same reason why rosters should not be created with no closers assigned, it disrupts the CPU logic (i.e. they will prioritize closers in the draft as they see it as a "need" position).
Garbage in, garbage out....
I'm just trying to make sure/understand how the CPU will keep things in order if I start again with a better roster.Comment

For the Carry-over bug, do I have to re-import my '19 franchise to have it fix ?Comment

Btw my roster is off the latest live. I play as close to default as possible. I made position changes based off mlb.com and added a handful of players that were missing from Houston's thread in rosters.
Too many sp in some rosters and free agent list full of real prospects affects retirement logic and too many sp later on that are high rated.

Re: Update 1.05
The cpu is always trying to balance the roster. That's why some trades are based on an injury. If a ss is injured the CPU will trade from an area of depth to fill the ss position. That logic has always been there.
This roster though never adjusted players positions and it breaks the logic. That's why trade sliders and everything do not work.
The cpu trades prospects to balance needs in april. If you watch it's the same teams and positions traded and always happens April 1 and 3.
Took me a while to figure it out and I adjusted the roster and have no issues now. I actually think the trade logic is better this year. I'm seeing more trades for bigger names and good quantity. I turned budgets off too. I became frustrated with real contracts messing with trade logic.
They really need to address salary demands and trade logic in regards to contracts if they added real contracts. With budgets on, and with it iff to an extent the CPU tries to trade salary for salary. And values players with 10 million plus much lower because the logic says 10 mil. B rated player is over valued.

Re: Update 1.05
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the issue as I understand it is that the CPU needs at least one player at each position at the MLB/AAA levels. So if it doesn't have a true RF at AAA, it will make whatever move it has to to get a RF there. So later on in the franchise, will the CPU just refuse to trade that one RF in order to stay balanced? Is it better then at calling one up from AA?
I'm just trying to make sure/understand how the CPU will keep things in order if I start again with a better roster.
Now...when evaluating if trades make sense, I ignore names. I look at potentials/ratings; because that is all that matters. So, if the Rays were to trade Franco (which I haven't seen...just saying); I evaluate it as them trading a XX OVR shortstop with X potential....not "OMG they would never trade Franco!!!". Not saying that you're doing that, but I just wanted to elaborate a bit on what I consider "an issue" vs how others might interpret one.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: Update 1.05
Not really noticing much of a difference in hitting which for me is a bad thing. It still seems too easy to hit even on legend difficulty. Ball is continuing to travel too much for my liking, and the home runs have become tiresome.
Maybe that was the approach for this year idk, but this is the first time in playing the show that I might actually have to handicap myself with sliders which i hate. Such a shame because I had been really enjoying playing the game on default the past couple of years.Comment

Re: Update 1.05
Bug report filed.
Now back to playing.
I had to vent. And it is not like me to pout. But the last 4 weeks in my own work life has been the most challenging since 2008. I am in wealth management. So you can imagine.
My rant was 4 weeks of utter **** coming to a boiling point.
But this game has never let me down. I just want to be able to enjoy it like I have for 15 years.
I am sure the guys at SDS will get it right.
My apologies for coming off obtuse. I think we are all on the edge these days.

Mike Lowes sliders play great, but if you don't really want to adjust too much, then raise the pitch speeds and lower the timing.YouTube: MLB The Show 21 Atlanta Braves FranchiseComment

Re: Update 1.05
BTW, this bug:
"Fixed an issue where an Outfielder would not lock in when trying to set up for a routine high fly ball, which resulted in the user losing control of the player."
Was REALLY bad. Consider yourselves lucky if you never saw it.
I only saw it once, and it was in an online game. Felt so bad for the guy that I just stepped off of first and held that spot until he tagged me - unfortunately a run scored on the play because there were two outs and the other runner was off on contact and past home plate before I realized what had happened.Comment

Had a few Hunter Renfro fly balls become a adventure 🤦🏾*♂️

Re: Update 1.05
Thanks Josh and tabarnes19 for the explanation. Appreciate it.
It probably wouldn't have bothered me as much if it was A prospect for A prospect. But when a top prospect is getting dealt for a D prospect, that ruined the immersion for me.
I guess the irony for me is, for both The Show and Madden, I've always stuck with the default rosters because they're more balanced.Comment
