When they've broken something as bad as they've broken it, I could imagine it taking longer.
I suggested rolling back to the last patch while they work on these issues so we could at least still play. Right now it's unplayable.

I just turned on Auto fielding so I don't have to deal with it. I still make the throws.

Certainly a good workaround for the moment. If you love baseball, and I think this years game is an improvement, letting the cpu go get the ball and you throwing

certainly beats shelving the game.

This might be part of the problem.

I don't see any issue there. The indicator is where the ball is going to land, not where you should be to catch it. The ball was going to land there, the fielder got in front of that spot before the curve took it and went for a high catch.

Those are from the most recent patch but they're not really the issue because they're mostly triggering on standard flyballs that you're gonna catch anyway, it just locks on early and throws off the indicator but doesn't cause negative outcomes (on the whole) -- just looks odd visually.

Here's why this is still an issue, because the game is sucking you into the catch animation from too far away and keeping you from moving to correct the fielder in time.

This is awful, just sad.

Just wasted hours of my life on the horrible March to October mode, only to have it completed by ending on not one, but three of these instances in the playoffs. Can't even play a 5 inning end of a game in the playoffs without constantly being sucked into animations that are nowhere near the ball, or have it refuse to enter an animation or acknowledge the ball in other instances.

I'm talking about perennial gold glove fielders, too. Like Kevin Kiermaier, for instance, won't even scoop up a ball. So much hesitation in throwing the balls back in, allowing extra bases.

Just broken to the extreme. The worst part, I really didn't even see any of this myself while playing until after the latest update. I believed those who were struggling with it, but assumed that maybe I was exempt from experiencing these issues. Not the case!

This game is about to be shelved, and I may not come back to it. My gaming time is precious, and with nothing done to franchise mode and no real baseball to mimic, I find myself wondering what the allure will be with a broken game this year.

Honestly, I could imagine Sony upper management is absolutely appalled and probably embarrassed given the catastrophe that the MLB Players Tournament had turned into with the fielding mishaps.

Welcome to the club nobody wants to be a part of. I feel for you man, I'd bored to tears grinding March to October which would be bad in and of itself, but add in the factor of the terrible fielding and you've got a recipe for disaster lol.

I would gladly go back to the crappiness before the last patch. The games in complete shambles now.

All of these happened in the same game. It's hard to tell by the video but in the first 2 videos my player locks on and can't move over to get the ball and then the 3rd video he just lets it hit him in the chest.

I reaaaaallllly don't want to play auto fielding but I can't go on like this.

I'm a little late to the party having just gotten the game this week. I've played four games, and at least once in each game I've had my outfielder positioned correctly just to watch the ball fall through him or bounce behind him. Atrocious. The occasional error is one thing, but this is bad.

Another humiliating outfield error today. I had Gregory Polanco lined up on the ball indicator and as soon as the ball touched his glove he dropped it. WTF!

Yep I have seen all of this in my games too.

I have never seen the fielding this bad since playing MLB The Show
