Re: What are everyone's hopes for MLB Next-Gen?

I could make a huge list but I'll keep it to three things.

    1. Expanded rosters.

    2. Grass remains on the field at all times.

    3. 70 fps minimum (0.1%) when playing on 1080p. Hoping for a 100 or 120 average.

Re: What are everyone's hopes for MLB Next-Gen?

              1. Bullpen mangment this has been an issue for like ever. CPU to often will let a relief piture be in the game way to0 long and also CPU like never goes to left hand specialist type of thing. This has been a issue for several console gens.

              2. Graphics need a big big update. On ps3 mlb was hands down the best looking sports game on ps4 not even close nba 2k, nba live, madden all look better.

              3. Franchise mode it's just not had a lot of new things for a long time now and could use a lot of improvements.

Re: What are everyone's hopes for MLB Next-Gen?

For them to focus on game MODE features instead of gamePLAY features.

#1 Franchise and #2 RTTS need a lot of love. Raw gameplay is the best of any sports game IMO, just fix the bugs.

Graphics need to be beefed up. Better body and uniform textures. More uniform templates.

Enhanced roster editing abilities. Expanded minor league levels (aka expanded rosters). Include all of Single A. IRL MLB cutting 40 minor league teams should help this.

Everyone wants a create-a-stadium feature, but can we get a uniform creator like NBA 2K's? And to completely customize the playing surfaces in current stadiums too? If you won't fix Miller Park's field, let us do it ourselves.

Re: What are everyone's hopes for MLB Next-Gen?

                  1. More classic stadiums (Tiger Stadium and The Astrodome) are my top two. I’d like to see each team have a retro stadium.

                  2. Custom leagues/divisions for Franchise mode. I’d like to be able to move team around or delete teams. For example, I’d like to be able to recreate the divisions and teams for a 1988 season. Having classic stadiums for each team would also add to this feature. I’d also like to see custom season lengths in Franchise mode as well.

                  3. I’d like to see umpire crews with viewable attributes for each umpire. In MLB a crew will rotate bases each game of a series. Then they travel to a new location. Umpires are a big part of the game and getting to know each crew member is crucial for each team. There needs to be an umpire central with all the data, not just a one min blurb about about the home plate tendencies.

                  4. Better AI front office management in franchise mode and in game lineup management for franchise mode. I’d like to see daily moves by the AI front office. Adding an extra arm or a spot starter after extra inning games would be a nice touch. Signing free agents as needed in season and/or releasing players in season would also be cool. Daily and/or weekly call ups based on immediate team needs would also be welcomed.

                  5. Lineup and pitching logic needs to be reworked. There should be an actual DH position in general on a roster. Lineups are not a one size fits all. Maybe we could have options for lineups like a classic lineup, speed lineup, power lineup, modern line up or a custom lineup. And for the bullpen there should be six relief spots, a setup man and a closer or a custom bullpen. Back to lineups, as of now only the one, three and four spots really matter to a star player on each team. A star player shouldn’t be penalized for not being able to hit in one these spots. Some teams have more than three star players. A player like Trout should have a three through four lineup attribute. Gallo would have a three through five attribute.

                  6. The commentary needs to be erased and built from the ground up. The commentary should be a mix of straight play by play on one slider, and stories and back and fourth banter about baseball or just general things on another slider. And a third audio slider that has in game interviews with former players and managers in the booth. No cut scenes for for booth members or field reporters.

                  7. Real full MLB coaching staffs. The coaches should have real life attributes and face scans. Managers should have actual managing attributes and so fourth for the other coaches. The attributes for each coach should affect the players on the team. These effects should be viewable for each specific player attribute not just an overall on the player moral screen. Add coaching cards to all modes.

                  8. The catchers need to matter. The catchers should have new specific catcher attributes. The game calling attribute would boost a pitcher’s confidence and if the catcher has excellent blocking skills the pitchers sinker or splitter gets a confidence boost. If the catcher is more of an offensive catcher the the opposite would happen for pitcher confidence and balls in the dirt confidence.

                  9. A new weather system. I’d like to option to adjust the temperature and weather affects for each game. Stadiums that have a complete inclosed environment should be set to 72 degrees. As of now at Globe Life Field it will say its 92 degrees and the commentators talk about how the ball travels farther when the weather heats up yet the roof is closed with the AC on. The weather should have actual affects on the players. Hot days should eat up player stamina and affect attributes to a certain degree, especially for catchers. Cold days should should favor pitchers.
Add weather cards to all modes.

                  10. Updated field/stadium interaction and animations. The dirt plums need to go. The dirt should not plum up every time a players feet moves. The grass should look more like real world grass and the dirt should interact more life like with the players feet and the ball. The chalk lines to first and third should show wear and tear. Each stadium should have an updated and accurate home run firework or water spout celebration. Body and ball collisions should reflect more accurate real world interactions. For instance players should react to railings and the walls more realistically. The new extended netting should be present in all scenes. The ball should not bounce as much or as high as it does. There should be no sound effect when the ball bounces on the grass. The grass or field turf should play different from stadium to stadium. Some teams cut the grass higher for a slower infield or outfield. The stadium cards should reflect the fast, slow or normal playing surfaces.

*Plus one more, all the cards should be able to be used in all modes, especially franchise. Add manager cards with attributes and have stadium cards with attributes.

NBA 2K’s PS5 game will be $69.99. No reason to think this won’t be the same with The Show 21.

I would agree but then I remember RBI and it hasn't done anything to get the Sony creative juices flowing, unless you count the retro-mode. did 2K really push Sony? don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my baseball video gaming circa 2001-2005. what a great run that period was.

2k was only a viable threat for a couple years. In 2008 was the biggest leap that franchise mode saw in the show. That year arbitration, renewable, free agency, rule 5 all came into being. Since 2k has went away there had been nothing of substance added to franchise, but token features that have never been fleshed out. Still have legacy issues that have never been addressed.

Financials for one. Salaries are not balanced correctly. Arbitration eligible players make more than free agents. Salaries drop and are not balanced to real contracts.

Trade logic is not balanced to real contracts. Many times trades cannot be completed due to salaries not being matched.

Cannot add players to the playoff roster even though they were on the 40. The rule is incorrect in the game. Players injured in August sometimes do not let you add to playoff roster when they return in September causing you to play short handed.

Roster imbalance. Teams will at times not carry 2 catchers or will carry 3 or 4.

Transaction log is cleared after month or two. Cannot look back.

Players changing teams mid year do not show the teams played on. Instead they list as Tot.

Players are traded multiple times in one season. Players are traded immediately after signing, which is not possible in mlb rules.

Players are sent down with large contracts. Mlb players cannot be sent down after 5 mlb service years without permission. Players like a Pujols should be released not sent down and count against salary.

Players that retire mid contract do not count towards salary obligations.

                          Progression/regression needs to be tweaked.

Drafted players do not reach majors until late age.

                            Base Ball and Playoff Atmosphere

It just has to be there can't make any excuses. Thinking about reaching out to Millenium to see if he can help push for this. Can't say much for if it does not happen in the next gen version in some capacity. We have gone 20 iterations without it! Can't say it's a hardware limitation! Dying to see cpu teammates hang on the dugout rails and grass cheering a base hit in key games. Ideas like this will completely change the engagement scope of MLB The Show! These should be programmed in a organic way! and teams should all react different. No more repeating animations!

                            Organic Teammate Interaction

Please someone bless me with a simple high five other than when a home run is hit. As my runners cross the plate! A base clearing double and everyone walks off as if nothing happened.

Dugout player interactions for the small things! Just watch a full playoff game or mid season game and it will give you all of the data you will need!

The on screen team interaction just feels stale!

                            Base Runners

I play player lock so it would be nice to see CPU players take different leads and be aggressive on the bases as well as cpu pickoff interactions. Did you know that the CPU will never throw over to second to pickoff a player unless you take the standard lead.

                            CPU Run Downs

Never seen a CPU in one in 20 iterations. If a CPU runner does take off and get caught he will continue to run right into the out and never attempt to turn back.

                            More Defense Interactions (INFIELD)

There is only one a flip over the runner as he is sliding into second. Again watch a real life broadcast and the ideas are there. Some how program a way for the CPU outfielder to hit a human controlled player regardless of position on the field in a cut off play! So some sort of programming to outfielder awareness.

                            Better Animations

Most notably running and fielding! Throw some variety in there not every player at every position should move the same.

its PS5 NOW! Either show up or go home!

It’s a shame only one or 2 people mentioned framerate. The game is basically unplayable with a runner on base and in countless other situations. It’s an absolute joke that they trot this game out year after year with this atrocious choppy gameplay and no one even cares.
