Re: MLB The Show 21 Stadium Creator Leaked Via SDS YouTube Page
If CAB is "Next Gen" only, that'll stink, but I'll understand why.
Either way, I don't think it's going to be as big as people think. Im thinking it's going to be a bare bones kind of editor with already implemented options. Like for example, you'll have the option of the taking one of the minor league parks and raising the fences, changing the distance to the fences, and moving the bullpen around from foul territory to behind one of the bleacher sections in the outfield. Change around the grass pattern from a diamond cut to a swirl cut, chose dirt or clay for the bases, circle or a square section around the batters box...stuff like that. Nothing to elaborate this year.
It'll be next year, MLB The Show 22 where that feature really starts to come to life.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Stadium Creator Leaked Via SDS YouTube Page
Ok, so I don't want people to freak out over this, because I still think this is fake, but it is possible that the PS5 and Xbox Series made it way easier to implement a custom stadium creator.
Keep in mind that I'm more of a hardware expert, and know very little about the software side of things.
The SSD on both systems could make creating this feature easier.
On the PS4, assets that the user assembled into a custom stadium would have to be rendered and pre-baked into a large file or else load times would be insane. Lighting would either be terrible or again would have to be rendered, which would take the PS4 hours, or maybe even days, and would probably still look terrible. This stuff was possible back in the olden days because things like light sources, shadows, and reflections didn't exist. They were all faked using textures, and they'll always looked tacked on or fake, no matter how high the resolution is.
Now, on the PS5/Series, the SSD is fast enough to not have to pre-bake assets. Instead custom assets could be loaded to a small save file that just contains coordinate data. Lighting, Shadows, and Reflections don't have to be pre-rendered because both systems are capable of Ray Tracing. All you need is a light source/sources identified and the material properties of each surface (which each custom asset would contain) and the Ray Tracing system takes care of the rest.
Now just because it can, doesn't mean it will, or even should. Just because the PS5/Series CAN ray trace doesn't mean they are any good at it. For those systems to do globally ray traced illumination, it would come at a severe framerate cost. I'm pretty sure the series S would explode. There is a reason why developers are pissed it exists.
Fun tangential anecdote: apparently working on lighting is a huge bottleneck for video game development. You may or may not care about ray tracing, but developers care a LOT. Usually, lighting, shadows, and reflections had to be faked, and meticulously hand done across an entire video game. With ray tracing, all you need to do is add it your light sources, make sure all of the material values in your surfaces are correct, and the ray tracing system takes care of the rest.
TL;DR: it is possible that the new generation of consoles allowed this feature to be made thanks to ray tracing and their SSDs, but I still think this "leak" is fake.

Also keep in mind when you compare PC spec hardware to the original PS4 that the PS4 in 2013 was basically a bottom end PC that was already outdated when it first arrived and the new consoles are well above average / top end PC's component wise. There's a pretty big performance capability gap between any of the PS4's and the PS5. Technology has come a long way since then.YouTube: MLB The Show 21 Atlanta Braves FranchiseComment

Yeah but if you look just at The Show sales it gets tricky. The Show sold around a million units the past couple of years with a ps4 install base of a little over 100 million so that’s 1%. Take 1% of 8 million next gen consoles and you only come to 80.000 units. Ok by the time the game out there will be a little bit more consoles sold but still.
Don’t get me wrong I hope we will get great (graphical) improvements for the next gen consoles this year but the ps4 version will still be the most important this year sales wise.

I'm hoping they pour resources into the new-gen. I know this here there's a lot of $ to be made catering to last-gen, but having both Xbox/PS platforms should help make up for that.
There's enough new systems (especially when you combine both) and a severe lack of new-gen games. I feel like this bodes well for 21.HE'S GOT ONE FLAP DOWN!Comment

What sort of stadia would you guys make? I'd want one with 600' walls to all fields. Or perhaps no walls at all! I'd put trees in the outfield as well, just to make things interesting (there was once a cricket stadium in England with a tree in play).Comment

I will admit though, as much as I'm glad it's gone in real life for the sake of player safety, I do miss Tal's Hill. Unique stuff like that would intregue me.

I would push the walls as far back as possible, and raise the walls to the highest point possible, and create an "Arena Baseball League" of sorts, where the only home runs are inside the parkers.-the least famous person you've never heard of.Comment

If it's a full fledge feature, which I doubt it is, I would like to try and create Ebbets Field, Old Comisky, Old Tiger Stadium, and if possible, I'd love to make some changes to some existing classic and minor league stadiums like dimensions, seating, adding upper decks, name, logo, advertising, etc.
That being said, I would be pleasantly surprised if the feature is anywhere that deep.

I don't play DD but I can see why custom stadiums would be a concern in DD guys would make crazy dimensions in DD and just hit bombs.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Stadium Creator Leaked Via SDS YouTube Page
put a dome on Wrigley.
make an almost exact replica of Fenway, sans the Green Monster & push the new 9 foot high Little Monster back 30 feet.
tear down Mount Davis in Oakland.
build a new Olympic Stadium for Washington.
take all the seats out of Miami, no ''stadium'', just a ballfield set against a South Beach ocean backdrop.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
