Speaking of presentation, I also miss being able to mute individual commentators. Not sure why they removed that either. I guess they thought it would be too jarring to hear Matty question "D-RO" into dead air.

But it's the color commentary that gets stale in a hurry, so reducing it to strictly PBP was much better imo.

Re: Were we ever told why Real-Time Presentation was removed?

I love the on field game (I am still on PS4 with 20). Greatest sports game I ever played and I go back to when it all started in the 70's and 80'.

What I don't understand or like is the current leadership who seemingly turn their nose up to many valid suggestions here at OS. The major one being the HR cam. As stated, they won't even make it an option. It's like they are thumbing their nose at the folks who request this, and seem to have taken a "we know better" attitude. There are other examples, but this one sticks in my craw.

There is a lot of whining and such on any board, but there are also many really good, really useful suggestions that just go ignored. I have never seen a product that once they got into that mode, succeeded in the long run. I hope this is not the case with this game. The "we know better" thinking never works (ex: new Coke, Edsel, Delorean, Betamax, etc).

Ironically, they let you turn off the HR cam in the HR Derby Mode if you go into options.

I agree the HR Cam should be a turn on or off option. However I don't know why so many folks do not like it at all. I am an old school player and I still enjoy that sudden feeling (good or bad) when the scene immediately cuts to the no doubt home run camera. Not crazy about the celebration sometimes so I change one when the celebration/bat flip is over the top (i.e. Kris Bryants celebration in McNaulty's roster).

Understood...that's why making things an option makes so much sense. Many prefer the Broadcast element look and feel when playing, and turning off HR cam is really required for that.

I thought I was going crazy last night trying to turn the slow motion plays off. That option was removed also? You could turn it off in the past.

              Why remove options like these?

The reason many do not like it is because the game presentation is setup to replicate television broadcasts. The commentary, camera angles, perspective, ambience, replays, etc...are all geared towards creating a feeling of immersion in a MLB televised game. They even went to great lengths to include real MLB Network overlays and ball tracking. And then suddenly they shift out of that so you can see a WWE camera angle from right behind the hitter watching him flip the bat, or slow down time to watch a pointless tag attempt at third base. It breaks the immersion and sticks out like a sore thumb.

I sometimes feel like that's the reason SDS has not included the option to turn it on/off during a game. It's like they're trying to shove their hard work on all those bat flip animations down our throats whether we like it or not.

Also, wtf did they do to the postgame highlights?? It now doesn't even show the entire play. It's just the batter making contact and cuts from there.

Yep. And I've mentioned this multiple times over the years but it really sucks hitting a tape-measure shot, only to not being able to see where it lands.

Re: Were we ever told why Real-Time Presentation was removed?

The last version of this game with real-time broadcast/presentation from beginning to end was MLB 11. You should check it out for reference if you haven't or forgotten. Since then, it's been unmentioned but they've forced us to live without it and as the years have went they've been even more aggressive about it. For me, this type of approach is a deal breaker as we have gone through generations of technology the emphasis has shifted toward marketability and away from its simulation gameplay aspect that was widely adored over a decade ago.

I preordered PS4 for the sole purpose of this franchise and haven't bought a copy of the game since 2014. I've played as recently as MLB 19 so I'm no dinosaur and I'm glad feedback like this exists.. As you're eluding it's even worse that they have been trying to sweep that part of things under the rug. It would only generate negative publicity from hardcore baseball types so it's kind of just understood, it's the decision that has been made..

It's never all aesthetic either, its effect on gameplay is my concern where I made my decision to stop.

MLB 2K was all about RTP. Can you tell I'm an Xbox user lol. I think more Show users would be open to RTP if some more overlays were put in about the season. Like when they bring up the Standings etc. I am more likely not to skip if I'm given some good information during the game. it could be a leaderboard, a stat comparision, upcoming schedule, etc. I'd also like to see where foul balls end up in the crowd if I want to. All that stuff needs to be brought back to Broadcast Presentation. if someone wants to skip ahead they can X (A) through it, or set it to another Presentation style.

This is the exact thing, self-fulfilling prophecy stuff. You know what I skip every friggin’ time? *puts bat under arm and claps twice*
Doss that mean I don’t want cuts between pitches? If you listen to the excuse out of SDS camp it means I don’t.

Another thing I think about a lot is WHEN I most aggressively skip forward: it’s when I’m not having any fun. I’m most interested in watching everything play out when I’m the most enthralled, and mashing thru everything when I couldn’t be less interested.

They’ve rewarded the button mashers every step of the way on this. That’s literally backwards imo.
