The parity excuse for SOTS and Y2Y saves disappearing is the weakest thing ever.

PlayStation owners who have bought this game for over a decade and truly supported the company shouldn’t be penalized for the fact Microsoft built an inferior system. Sony better find a way around this next year or they are going to lose their key fanbase. It’s not all about money. Don’t turn into EASports. I beg you.

Do we know for sure its due to parity?

SOTS is still available in the PS4 version just like it always has been.

Y2Y saves I would venture to say disappeared due to the changes to the core foundation of franchise mode. The trade metric/logic, contract logic, addition of minor league stats which are used in this logic, seems more likely to me for Y2Y saves not being incorporated, especially given the fact they didn't alter SOTS on the PS4, which means they don't appear to be driven by the mindset of keeping features identical across all platforms.

I called it. I knew that original explanation they had on the website was flat out hiding the fact we couldn't use our own custom music. This is becoming so bs with them with hidden info or making us do the tiny detail research to figure things out when they can just answer a simple yes or no through social media or a stream. They used to interact with us (understand why they don't anymore) and care about the customer. That's what surpassed them from all of the others. I can't all but feel it's only about the money now. That wasn't the case until the last few years. Things like this just make it seem like "how can I get someones money without telling them something was removed." In the end we found out but not in an upfront way where they put on a pair and just said hey, this is why it's not in and we are sorry we had to remove it.

I originally thought the move to XBOX was going to be fantastic for this series in getting more income to put more into the product. Now I just flat out hate the fact it happened. I wonder if SOTS is ever going to be back now. If it's truly in the hands of XBOX then it's probably not going to happen. XBOX had all their time with XBOX One to allow the import of music and it never happened. I guess we will see if The Show gets side approval somehow (not sure how that process works) but I can't see them making an exception for one game.

Both the PS5 and PS4 versions downloaded automatically to my PS5 last week. From what I'm gathering I cannot cancel my preorder if it's already downloaded. Is that correct?

Dang that sucks. Still gonna stick with my preorder as I'm sure the game plays great. Hopefully SOTS makes a return in the future, it'll definitely kill the immersion for me a bit

To my knowledge, there has been no formal indication that there is a "requirement" for parity between the systems that has necessitated the removal of features. As far as I know, it's a lot of rumors and hearsay as to WHY these features are (supposedly) being removed. If someone has a link to a formal press release or other communication issued by Sony or Microsoft that indicates this, I'd love to see this.

Does it make sense that this is the case, sure. But the reality is that we do not know and never will (as there are undoubtedly legal restrictions about contractual details not being made public).

I hear all the criticism of the development team and it is deserved for them not getting in front of this with full transparency. But think for a moment, their hands were probably tied due to Microsoft's operating system for XBOX does not allow for custom music. So it's more Microsoft's fault than anything else. This caused a cascade for SDS that was out of their control. First MLB, then Microsoft. I feel bad for the developers and they deserve some sympathy for all these wrenches being thrown at them in all years with a pandemic going on. Hopefully they have some b&&&s and go back at MLB and Microsoft saying enable this feature so we can have SOTS back.

I agree that it would be horrible to remove this, but let’s wait and see first.

Edit: I saw someone had proof that SOTS is not in the PS5 version. I hope it’s not true. I’m trying so hard to keep my belief in SDS, but IF ITS TRUE, they are starting to look and act like every other mega corporation in the business.

I’m already not buying this year’s game - for the first time since 2010 - so at least I’m wavier some money for other games.

...except every other game now is either delayed or released in a broken state. What is happening to video games?

In many cases, I 100% agree with this statement. I wish they were more transparent about their future plans for franchise. I wish they were more transparent about why they made certain changes and so on. I do honestly believe this is more of a Sony issue than a dev/studio issue.

In the case of them removing features and WHY they did so, this truly does smell of legal/non-disclosure more than anything else. The devs may be under legal restriction to not make this public....and that's 100% normal. If the company I work for decided to work with another company to develop a product, I couldn't just go on social media and spew about it. I'd be fired and probably sued.

We can speculate as to the WHY all we want...but it's a futile exercise as we'll never get a definitive answer.

Indeed their hands are tied. And it does stink. A little better transparency though was typical for them....but lately...it has kinda not been so I get some players frustrations.

Oh well. MLB 20 still kicks ***. All is good.

I don't know, could be hardware, how it operates, etc...I really don't know.

But my understanding is that SOTS hasn't been completely removed. Its still available on the PS4 version of the game and there are some available slots on Xbox consoles and PS5 to incorporate music into the game, just not as robust as the PS4.

Pretty much yes Josh. You are correct.

But using my common sense.....I know why some things were removed. It is pretty clear to me. And I called it a while back despite some differing opinions. Which is ok....we all have our own opinions. And there is no need to get hostile with anyone if they differ from yours.

Anyway......this is tough launch already for them. Glad I am sitting it out. I have no reason to buy 21 for a long time, if at all. It does not have what gives me the greatest enjoyment from the Show.

Classic rosters, SOTS.

One of those (classic rosters) may not even be a factor on 21 as I do not think the best roster creators are spending 1000’s of hours with no assurance it can move to 22. So it is all in limbo on that end. And that is a dear shame because the new stadium creator could add a huge level of immersion for classic rosters. Hopefully a few will be created that can draw me in much later in the cycle.

It's a mess right now.....such a shame.

Because the PS4 could not read USB’s yet. They updated the software on PS4 and it returned on 15.

This is a different animal.

It wasn't removed per se, it wasn't as robust in '14 and '15 because PS4 OS didn't support .mp3 files, SDS was only able to allow users to work with music and sounds made available on the disc.
