Re: MLB The Show 21 Impressions Thread
What I don't like
1. The Rosters: These are a dumpster fire. I'm really shocked at how bad. Dan Winker of the Cubs is a prime example. Winkler is listed as a SP. His last start was in AA...in 2014. The Cubs were not talking about starting him. He's been really bad, too, over the last 2 years prior. Like really bad. He's an 84ov SP.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Impressions Thread
Dan Winkler must have compromising photos of somebody at SDS. He's been overrated since he was with the Braves. I noticed he was an 84-rated SP this year. He was rated high enough on 20 that the Cubs used him as their closer. And he was rated in the 80s with the Braves a few years ago. Just really odd how overrated he is year after year in the game.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Impressions Thread
New presentation screens, new presentation wipes, stats, etc....
Quite a bit is different this year in franchise. Its nothing sexy, but its different and for the better.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 21 Impressions Thread
If you look at his stats for hits/innings pitched, strike outs, etc. they are quite good. His ERA though, in the 5’s for a couple years. Not sure how SDS formulates for these guys but his stats don’t look like a 5.00 era pitcher. Go figure.Comment

Are you having problem with rosters for single player or are you referring to the broken roster vault?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Impressions Thread
My only issue with presentation is that the commentary is almost exactly the same and it seems totally pointless to me most of the time. It is way too repetitive as well and you would think after years of this franchise better and more random dialogue would have been added.Comment

MLB The Show 21 Impressions Thread
I love pin-point pitching but the fears that I had with it from the tech test are evident. Some pitching gestures particularly sliders and splitters from the stretch are just not fun to throw. Yes, they have the feedback meter but I really don't think that helps much as far as making timing adjustments. It's like I have to pick my poison when throwing those pitches and others with certain pitchers. Do I have a well-timed gesture and flub the accuracy or speed through the gesture to make sure I have good accuracy.
I made a comment early on, in which I described my wish to have the gestures reversed when using a lefty, to make it even more uncomfortable, and harder to “beat the mini game”.
In my opinion PPP is the best addition in years, and the fact that you’ll have to work it it makes it so much more likely to have staying power.
Too often, we are able to figure out Meter, Pulse, etc... and once you “get it”, the thrill is gone.
This is tough, and to make it even more fun, turn off all the ball maker helpers, and you’ll really start to get sweaty palms trying to deal filth in the late innings with guys on base.
The key is to watch the cadence on the preview for the pitch prior to making it. The great thing they did was give you real time feedback, via the colors on the gesture animation while you are pitching.
For a circle change to be super-effective, you need to start at 9 o’clock, swing clockwise all the way to 3 o’clock, back to 12 o’clock, and then down to the left/right market based on where you aimed. It’s not easy, but all along the way you get colors and tracings to see if you have followed the gesture perfectly.
Watching the gesture meter go full blue (perfect) and having that pitch dip down and catch the edge of the black for the K, is just way too rewarding. Okay find myself rushing through my offensive at-bats, just so I can get back out on the hill and deal my filth.
Work on getting comfy with each pitch, and some days you’ll have the “feeling” with certain pitches (like real life) and some days you’ll feel totally lost (again, as it is).
As you nail your gesture perfectly, your confidence goes up with that pitch (make sure it’s turned on) and the precision of your gesture gets a tad more forgiving for that offering.
It is simply the most fun I have had playing this game, and coupled with sliders to make the game more realistic, I can’t get enough.
Practice, get your comfort level up with each pitch, and go dominate!!

I just mute the tv and put on a podcast in the background.Comment

I’d like to see them steal how 2K would make some pitches better or worse through the game based on how well you are throwing them.
But I’ve really enjoyed the PPP a ton.Comment
