Maybe people’s expectations were too high but I’m finding a big leap between 20 on the PS4 Pro and 21 on XSX. Much sharper, better HDR, much better lighting, smooth 60 FPS and vibrant colours - the blue and orange on the Mets uniforms are popping and the grass doesn’t look nearly as washed out. They also did obvious texture updates to Shea Stadium and Wrigley Field also looks considerably better (only played two games so far).

Room for improvement in animation and models but from a graphics POV they have done a pretty good job.

Those improvements all came under 20 on the generation leap. If you played 20 on the xsx you’d be seeing the same things.

I’m really struggling to see why you’d bother with 21. Stadium creator? That’s not sounding like it’s the amazing feature was hyped up to be! Very limited, day games only etc.

Hard to believe SDS still can’t figure out how to make a hat fit and look good a lot of the players. Also, does the Altuve player model still look like he’s wearing a fat suit under his jersey?

It’s not a fat suit, its a wire under his jersey. This game is as real as it gets!

I'm old. I've owned literally every year and version of The Show to date. This is the most disappointing generational update ever. The jump from PS4 to PS4 Pro was much more impressive than this. 20  PS4 running on the PS5 was nearly perfect - it just felt right. Something just feels off about the physics and responsiveness in 21 in addition to the graphics let-down - for me it's a chore to play rather than the delight that was 20 on PS5. Personally I blame Xbox ;(.

Nba2k21 next gen looks much improved visually on next gen (I think). The same can't be said about The Show 21. Curious wat Ramone has to say about it. Clearly the focus was not on graphics/ animations, which is a shame. Why else would you fork over 70 bucks? Could it be covid? Could it be something else? Hopefully 60 fps across the board, so that includes cut scenes as well on all next gen consoles, XSS included.

Probably can divide up this thread in two camps

1. Bought a next gen system and will be happy with said new features/ game.

2. Couldn’t find/didn’t look for next gen so will try to use this as justification to make themselves feel better.

Let’s see with more time but there is something that feels off about 21... not sure what it is but 20 on the ps5 just felt better. 21 Bat sounds are a step down, and I also feel some of the new batting stances don’t look as good... not sure what it is but I can’t say for certain 21 “feels” better. This was 100% expected. The first year on a new system is always essentially identical.

The first two years of MLB The Show on PS4 didn't look that great. Not until MLB The Show 16 did the game get a huge graphics upgrade.

So next year or the year after I expect this game to get a major graphics upgrade on PS5.

I'm loving the next gen visuals. The crowds seem more vibrant, the lighting seems more real, the players move a little different, the ball seems more alive with it's movement and something I noticed as I was playing DD that absolutely pleasantly surprised me.........

I created a custom logo a few years ago that I store in the vault to use every season. It's shaped like the Phillies bell logo, just a different color scheme. Now, I'm not that good with created logos. Mine are pretty stock and practically 2-D. This never happened on the PS4 but on the PS5 as innings end and the game flashes both team logos on the screen, my 2-d black and red bell turns into a fully rendered, 3-dish liberty style bell. No where in any of my logos description does it say bell. So how would it know that it is a bell...I'm going to record a video of it later and upload it. It blew my mind when it first happened. I thought it was some sort of texture glitch, but nope. The newer system visually rendered my logo for cutscenes. That's pretty awesome.

Huh hold on there buddy. 2k21 on Next gen 1st year is waaaay different graphically and the way it feels. SDS dropped the ball on this one pretty bad. When you see 2k21 between regular gen vs Next gen nobody said I can’t tell the difference unlike this game

You know what? coming from the same background, im 37, been playing The show since 2005... got the Xsx version yesterday, and something feels weird and cheap indeed. Cant get my finger on exactly what but, it doenst feel as good as 20 on ps4 pro that I played last year.. evan the menus look a bit low res.. very weird.

Seriously, im getting a RBI feeling when playing it lol

Yeh, evan Fifa from lazy EA sports got a fairly decent upgrade, u can instantly tell if its next gen or old gen Fifa while playing it.

Also as I remember well the transition from PS2 to PS3 was incredible for The Show, new player models, new animations, new graphics all around, it was really next gen back then. PS3 to PS4 I really dont remember but I think it was more focused on 720p to 1080p than on core graphics.

I know we all, well if you could find one, have these new next gen systems but you have to at least give the developers a whole year before they can go all out for next gen as far as graphics is concerned.

I perfectly understand this and with all Covid situation it makes evan more sense, but in someways I feel the game is downgraded from 20, its weird, cant spot it yet... Maybe its the low resolution menus or maybe I just got to used to next gen FIFA and NBA2k but this doesnt feel as polished as The Show aways felt year after year.

Anyone who doesn't think this game is beautiful is either lying or their expectations are WAY too high.

Someone really said it looks like RBI Baseball? Ya'll are a hilarious bunch and this sub-forum has become toxic as hell.
