Cardinals take series against Giants in San Francisco

The Cardinals (20-10) took 2 of 3 from the Giants at Oracle Park as they now enjoy a 2 1/2 game lead over the suddenly struggling Reds.

The Cardinals won Monday and Tuesday, but were unable to complete the sweep Wednesday as Matthew Boyd threw his first clunker of the season and suffered his first loss (5-1).

The Cardinals are off on Thursday as they travel to Cincinnati for a 3 game weekend series with the Reds.

The 3rd series against the Reds already. If you can get the sweep or take 2 out of 3 vs them. Can put some distance between you all.

Yeah we’ll have 4 series against them thru may.

Then we don’t see them again until September

          TRADE ALERT:

The Red Sox have struck a deal with the Giants to add an outfield bat to help fill the void until Hunter Renfroe returns from a fractured shin.

          Giants Receive: Matthew Lugo
          Red Sox Receive: Austin Slater

Slater was stuck in Triple-A with a crowded outfield in in San Francisco, and was most likely going to be non-tendered in the offseason. Slater hits lefties quite well which is really what the Red Sox need, even after Renfroe returns.

The return for the Giants was shortstop prospect Matthew Lugo, who currently ranks as Boston's 12th best prospect. The 20 year old wasn't expected to be in the Red Sox future plans as they have another top shortstop prospect in Marcelo Mayer plus Jeter Downs waiting for their turn in the big leagues.

The Red Sox have released catcher Kevan Smith to make room for Slater on the 40-man roster.

The As in my youtube league went full rebuild and started winning and are running for the AL wildcard

Olson went to the Yankees who are faltering in my less HR, Less Ks, less BB league for the 2nd year in a row
Chapman went to the Norfolk Tritons (relocated Miami Marlins) as Kim Ng thought she could catch the WC, but they have fallen back as the Mets HAVE STARTED TO CLICK

For my Orioles we have brought up young talent in Dillion Tate, Rutschman (who got injured for 40 days after 2 weeks) Tyler Nevin, Jahmai Jones, Grayson Rodriguez and Japan import Munetaka Murakami and have done better

Last year of Chris Davis and his contract and he is hitting .162 with 6 HRs in limited time but leads the team in BBs

I refused any offers for Cedric Mullins or Trey Mancini

Braves send Camargo to Kansas City

The Kansas City Royals are hoping to return to the playoffs in 2022. They're looking to a World Series champion to help them get there.

The Royals acquired third baseman Johan Camargo from the Braves in a four-player trade. Camargo asked to be traded after losing his starting role. He was hitting .258 with three RBIs in a bench role after hitting .259 with 21 homers and 52 RBIs last season. Ironically, he started his final game for Atlanta, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

The Braves received hard-throwing right-hander Josh Staumont in the deal. Staumont was 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA in 9.1 innings this season for the Royals. But he touts a fastball that hits triple digits and has the ability to pitch multiple innings. Those aspects piqued the Braves.

Reliever Mychal Givens heads to Kansas City with Camargo while first baseman Ryan O'Hearn joins Staumont in going to Atlanta. Givens had a 8.64 ERA in 8.1 innings for the Braves, but hadn't allowed a run in his final 2.2 innings. O'Hearn was hitting .379 with five homers and 16 RBIs for Triple-A Omaha.

The Braves optioned O'Hearn to Triple-A Gwinnett. They also announced the signing of free-agent third baseman Pablo Sandoval. Sandoval hit .263 with 10 homers primarily as a pinch-hitter for Atlanta last season. He's expected to fill a similar role with the Braves now.

Tommy Edman out until after All-Star Break

Injuries continue to mount for the Cardinals as Tommy Edman has been placed on the 60 Day IL due to a shoulder tear. Edman will not be back until after the All-Star Break and it may be August before he returns.

Edman hasn't been having the best of years hitting just .226 with 3 homeruns and 10 RBIs but he's been a bit unfortunate hitting some really hard line drives right out fielders. Also, while his bat has struggled, his glovework has been exceptional through the first 6 weeks or so of the season.

With Edman out for a long period of time, the Cardinals have a decision to make at 2nd base. They traded away Nick Dunn a week or so ago who many believed would be called up should Edman ever be injured. They could go with Edmundo Sosa who's on the bench currently, or dip in the minors for possibly Devin Hairston or even Max Moroff. Or they could go the trade route or even free agency.

Whichever way they go, whomever takes over the every day 2nd base duties until Edman returns, will have pretty big shoes to fill.

The Red Sox just wrapped up a three-game series against the Blue Jays, taking two out of three, but that loss was an embarrassing one for Boston.

Game one was a one-sided affair until the sixth as the Red Sox scored a run in the first three innings, taking an obvious 3-0 lead one the back of a pair of solo home runs from Rafael Devers and Ronaldo Hernandez.

The Blue Jays would crack the scoreboard in the sixth, but Boston still held a 3-1 lead, adding one more in the top of the ninth, which proved to be crucial as Toronto would try and mount a comeback, kicking it off with a solo blast from George Springer off Matt Barnes, but that comeback would stall out and end with a 4-3 Boston victory.

Game two was the embarrassment mentioned above, mustering all of four hits in a 3-0 shutout. Their first hit didn't come until the sixth inning when rookie Ryan Fitzgerald blooped a fastball into left field, he would end up as the Red Sox best hitter in this one, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and a walk. Nick Pivetta was the pitcher of record for Boston, working six innings surrendering all three runs on eight hits.

The Boston bats got the Sox back on track in game three, led by new addition Austin Slater who cranked two home runs in just his second game with Boston. Toronto had a pair of home runs for themselves but that's all they would have as they would fall 6-2 in the series finale. Though they won, they would also lose in a sense, as J.D. Martinez landed on the injured list as he came up limping after sliding into third base, it was diagnosed as a pulled calf. He should only miss a couple weeks.

Rookie Tanner Houck was excellent for his league leading 15th victory, throwing six innings of six hit ball, striking out six. Houck is easily considered the leader for both the Rookie of the Year and Cy Young award.

Boston will head home as they get set for another four-game series against the rival Yankees. Connor Seabold (1-2, 8.69) will take the mound against Jameson Taillon (8-6, 3.56 ERA) as he looks to right the ship in his debut season.

I've been just reading a few pages, getting caught up on what everyone's got going on and its so fun to read and see whats all happening.

With that being said, I haven't posted in a long time and when I did last, i'm sure I was on a different Franchise than what I am now. (I get bored fast because I burn myself out lol)

Right now, i'm playing with the Twins - Using a off-season roster where I randomly selected teams for the top 40-50 free agents. I'm playing in the metrodome, and playing every 6th game. I want to Get through a season faster but still play quite a few games.

Anthony Rizzo was assigned to the twins so they added a little fire power for their offense. Max Kepler and Mitch Garver are leading our offensive, each hitting well over .320 respectively. Guys like Donaldson and Sano are providing some power in the lineup. Jorge Polanco is also helping the offense, hitting around .300 and 5-6 homers.

Currently sitting in second place, with a 22-14 record. We're approaching the amateur draft soon and got some eyes on a couple power hitting prospects. Thinking we may lose Sano and Rizzo at the deadline if we're sellers.

I like following this thread, and noticing how people play franchise differently than others. A lot different than how I play it. But that's great.

After about a two month hiatus the Tigers Franchise is back. Being a fulltime student-athlete as well as just getting a puppy a month ago has put a limit on how much I can hop on. But I am happy to say I am back! Especially to build momentum towards 22, since the Guardians are in my division of choice, I feel the need to get the updated version lol. Anyways I am 2 games into the Seattle Series, we've split the first two, with Game 3 coming down between a struggling Casey Mize and an even more struggling James Paxton. I hope to get that done tonight so that I can get back to more regularly scheduled Tigers updates!!

                          Tigers(17-27) drop 2/3 to Mariners(16-28)
After winning the opening game 6-3 off of a big game by Spencer Turnbull, the Tigers turned around and lost the next two 3-8 and 0-1. The lack of offense really hurt them in this series, and really the lack of hits with RISP. After a 7 run 5th for the M's against Skubal, the Tigers couldn't muster any runs and would go on to lose. In Game 3, Paxton and Mize were both masterful, but after a bloop double to lead off the 4th, Mize would give up the only run of the game, and in somewhat of a role reversal from this season, his offense let him down. As he now drops to 1-7 on the year, against another team under .500, the KC Royals, in the division.

                          Probable Starters are Boyd(1-2)vKeller(2-4), Manning(0-1)vBubic(3-3), and Turnbull(2-4)vLynch(1-2)

Pablo Sandoval has now seen one pitch in 2022. And he crushed it for a pinch-hit, two-run homer.

I have no idea why I hit so well with him.

Edit: Staumont made his Braves debut in the same game. He’s going to be fun. He touched 102 MPH.

                                Haven't updated in a few...

We are currently 23-13 after taking another 2 of 3 from the Reds but then followed up losing 2 of 3 to the Brewers. We still sit atop the NL Central by 2 games over the Reds as we host the Diamondbacks for a 4 game series.

Losing Tommy Edman has been tough as we try to determine how best to fulfill the everyday 2nd base job. I keep bouncing various ideas around and just cant' land on one. Edmundo Sosa is currently handling the duties but his lack of offensive production is hurting the lineup because of how its structured, he's hitting the 2 hole. Only other option is to move up Dylan Carlson, but he is playing great hitting in the 7th spot as he gives up pop down in the lineup that can drive in runs when the likes of Arenado, DeJong, or O'Neill get on base.

We really don't have anyone in the minors who's shown they are ready to step into this role, especially with it being a lengthy IL stay for Edman.

We claimed 1B/COF Seth Brown off waivers from the A's to help with the decimated outfield position. We lost Tyler O'Neill for 10 days due to ankle sprain but he's due back in the next day or so. We will then have a decision to make on how to structure our outfield at the MLB level as Brown, Plummer, and Sierra cannot all be kept as bench players, and all 3 are out of options.

                                Decisions...decisions...
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
