Got a question for all you franchise players. How do you all complete a full season?

There's no way I'll be able to play all 160+ games before I get bored, so I'm looking for some tips on how everyone else gets through multiple years in franchise mode.

I was thinking of playing one month, summing the next, etc. But that still may be too much.

Any ideas from you franchise vets out there?

The Portland Black Racers open the season at 3-3 taking 2 out of 3 against the Red Sox and loosing 2 out of three to the Yankees

          Red Sox Series:
          Means VS. Sale
Offense carries the Orioles with Santander leading the charge with a solo shot as they plate 5 in the top of the 6th to win 7-6.

          Harvey VS. Rodriguez
Harvey goes a solid 6 and Mullins has 4 hits as the O’s get a 6-2 win.

          Zimmerman VS. Eovaldi
Solo shots from Bogaerts and Gonzalez carry the Sox to a 3-2 win.

          Yankees Series:
          Kremer VS. Kluber
Kremer goes seven strong innings and the Orioles take the 3-1 win.

          Akin VS. Montgomery
Yankees offense carries the team to a 9-5 win with Stanton and Sanchez going deep.

          Means VS. Cole
Big offensive day in the Bronx as Hays and Stewart both hit a pair of Homeruns. But its not enough as the Yankees get the win in extras with help from Gary Sanchez and his pair of Homeruns as well 10-8

The Black Racers will head home to open up the 2021 season there to take on the Red Sox for three and the Mariners for 4.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

We've played the last full series of April, so now seems like a good time for an update on my Braves.

We're 16-9, good for second in the East. The Mets lead the division by half a game at 16-8. After an 0-8 start to the season, the Nats have climbed back to .500 at 12-12. The Phillies are 12-14 and the Marlins are 10-15.

The Brewers lead the NL Central with an MLB-best mark of 17-8. The Dodgers lead the NL West at 16-10.
In the AL, the division leaders are the Yankees (16-9), Royals (14-10) and Astros (15-10).

Acuña and Freeman lead the way offensively for us, no surprise. Acuña is hitting a team-best .343 with an MLB-leading 12 HRs and 23 RBIs. Freeman is at .340 with 11 HRs and an MLB-best 26 RBIs.

We're hitting just .243 as a team, but make the most of our hits as we're third in runs scored with 125. We're also second in homers with 45.

Ian Anderson is our top pitcher at 4-1 with a 2.10 ERA. Max Fried has struggled with a 1-4 record and team-worst 4.67 ERA.

The bullpen has been dominant (unlike IRL) which has helped us to a league-best 2.48 ERA.

We signed Tyler Flowers to a minor-league deal (at $4.2M) after Alex Jackson started 0-for-18 at the plate. We were going to add Flowers to the 40-man and call him up for upcoming road trip, but Jackson went 3-for-4 in his last game, so we'll stick with him for a bit longer.

If the season ended today, Freeman would edge out Acuña for NL MVP with Corbin Burnes getting NL Cy Young. Clint Frazier is just ahead of Mike Trout for AL MVP with Gerrit Cole the leader for AL Cy Young,

Going to be starting my Franchise today and i'll be doing an Expansion draft with the Oakland A's Moving them to Las Vegas.

I'll be filling the team with all free agents and moving the players on the roster already to different teams. i'll only keep players in single A and Double A and no one that has a B potential or higher

i'll be playing the first game in every home division series and games against teams that have a winning record. all other games will be simmed and i'll be playing all Critical Situations as well and Quick counts will be on for all games.

I play every game. Normally just get one season done and maybe half of another if I’m really on it, but don’t expect that this year.

I tried a few play/sim options but then just give up as I lose interest in my franchise. The only way I can keep interest / not feel disconnected to it , is if I play every game so that’s what I do.

I know a couple of people that will play 1 game and sim 5 thoughout the season, so that you're essentially going through the rotation as you normally would, but are playing 30ish games as opposed to 162.

I'll have a recap of my franchise posted soon, but I just wanted to say that I got clobbered by the Marlins 13-3 giving up nearly 20 hits and then the very next game saw Mike Soroka take a perfect game into the 7th inning and I ended up winning a pitcher's duel.

I also walked 9 times and struck out 9 times one game and then went on to walk just 1 time the next game. Maybe this fits in the impressions thread better, but I love how dynamic and random the sport of baseball can be.

For you franchise vets, how big is the jump in difficulty against the CPU?

I think All-Star is going to end up too easy for me, but I'm worried Hall of Fame will be too hard.

I've been on HOF for years. Just go to HOF and stay there for awhile. You'll eventually get good at it. Just work the count and when you're pitching dont fall in to any predictable ruitunes.

And don't just pitch just in the strike zone. Throws balls sometimes even on first pitch. CPU will chase sometimes.

Yankees Sweep Rays, Move To 7-2

The Rays drop to 1-9 after a devastating sweep at the Trop.
                            Game 1 Kluber Vs Yarbrough
Kluber would have a huge rebound from his ugly first start tossing 6 scoreless innings with 8 K’s holding Tampa to just 2 hits. Yarbrough would nearly match him throwing 6.2 innings of 2 hit 1 run ball with 9K’s. A Stanton Solo HR in the 4th would be the defining swing. Yankees Win 2-1.

                            Game 2 Tallion Vs Hill
Tallion would follow up his solid debut this time going 7 strong innings allowing just 2 runs. A Stanton HR would once again be the driving force for the Bombers, this time a 2 run HR in the 3rd. After a Rays RBI in the 6th, LeMahieu would add extra cushion with a Solo HR, which would be needed as Tampa clawed back with 1 more. Yankees Win 3-2.

                            Game 3: Montgomery Vs Wacha
After a Hicks Solo HR in the 3rd, Giancarlo ‘The Ray Killer’ Stanton struck again with another 2 run bomb in the 3rd. Derek Dietrich, starting over Torres, would swat a Solo HR of his own. Higgy would end the scoring with an RBI single.
                            Yankees Win 5-2.

                            Next up:
We head to Toronto to take on the 4-6 Blue Jays, with Game 1 featuring an early rematch of Opening Day with Cole Vs Ryu.

                            News:
Padres 3B Manny Machado Dislocates Ankle, Out For Season

Yankees Option Miguel Andujar, Recall Deivi Garcia
After a dominant first start of the season in AAA where he tossed a complete game 2 hit shutout with 8 K’s, Garcia will get the call to replace German as our 5th starter, and hopefully permanently lock down his spot in the big leagues.

                            Derek Dietrich
Starting over Gleyber Torres in the series finale @ Tampa, Dietrich would go 3 for 4 with a solo HR. Dietrich could become a solid piece of the roster if he can continue to hit, providing another lefty swing and versatility capable of playing quality defense at 1B, 2B, 3B, and the corner OF.

What I’ve wound up doing now is, I play the first game of each series, then quick manage the next two. With quick manage I feel like I’m still maintaining a little bit of control, like pitcher usage, steals, etc, as opposed to simming, but still progressing through the season quicker.

You still manually use all of your rotation plenty throughout the year, and end up playing 1/3 of the season. I still feel plenty in tune with my roster, who’s hot / cold, etc.
