In my Braves franchise Acuna Jr. just hit for the cycle with a HR late in the game. I was so nervous my hands were sweating. This was the 3rd game of my 21 season and prior to this game he couldn't hit the ball if he was swinging a dump truck. It was glorious... even though we still lost.

My Rockies are 16.5 back on June 3rd, finally putting it together, and Aaron Judge, acquired from the Yankees earlier is starting to click.

We are pushing hard to bring in another bat (Kris Bryant), and make a run to a WC spot, but my god this team sucks.....

Cubs Wrap Up: 2020 Presented by Jay

Cubs look to right Ship Against NL leading Dodgers

The Cubs (17-11) are in the midst of a 4 game losing streak but were up against a tall task as the Dodgers came to town with the best record in baseball at 22-7. The Dodgers had rattled off 7 straight wins. While it’s early, LA looks to have 3 certifiable No. 1 starters in their rotation as Price, Kershaw and Bauer have ERA’s in the low 2’s or under. For the first game the Cubs would face David Price as he came in with a 4-1 record and an insane 1.13 ERA. The Cubs did not seem as impressed as they tried to jump on the left early. Matt Duffy got the start at 3rd and led off with a triple and Kris Bryant promptly drove him in with a home run to left. The Cubs were able to get men in scoring position later in the 1st and Marinsick got the RBI on a swinging bunt. The lead would not stand for long as Alex Mills was roughed up giving up 4 home runs to take the 6-3 lead. The game came down to the 9th for the Cubs as they would have to get it done against Jansen who came into the game day with a 0.69 ERA. The Cubs would get in business when Pederson doubled to lead off the inning but the Dodgers would get 2 quick outs. Duffy was due up as the line up turned over and was able to smack a double to make it 4-6. Bryant kept the train going as he singled to score Duffy. Javy Baez fell behind early before lacing a single up the middle that moved Bryant to 2nd. Seeing their lead dwindle, Dodger’s skipper Dave Roberts had seen enough and took Jansen out for Joe Kelly; the Cubs would turn to Eric Sogard as the pitchers spot was due up due to a double switch earlier in the game. Nerd power was able work the count to 2-1 but just missed a seeing eye single that could have scored the tying run. The Cubs losing streak would continue for at least another day.

In the middle game Kershaw would face Adbert Alzolay. The youngster was able to keep pace the veteran before disaster struck. Alzolay had been dominate through 3 innings as he had given up just 1 hit and struck out 4 before he came up lame after throwing a slider in the 4th. The trainers would rush out and Adbert would leave the game in considerable pain. With the game tied 0-0 the Cubs would go with Shelby Miller to try and eat innings. Miller has struggled out of the pen but was able to show the stuff that made him a top prospect a few years ago as he would go 3 innings giving up 2 hits, a walk and striking out 5. The Cubs were able to get to Kershaw in the 7th as Baez walked and set up the first run of the game when Pederson was able to drive him in. the bases would get juiced as after a Happ double and Rizzo was intentionally walked. David Bote would break the game open as he doubled to left to make it 3-0. The Cubs would turn to Kimbrel in the 9th and he would make it look easy as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning as the Cubs broke the losing streak with the 3-0 win. The Cubs would turn to their thoughts to their young pitcher and the prognosis was not great. While Alzolay was able to avoid Tommy John Surgery he will miss at least 1-2 months due getting his elbow scoped. With his move to the IR the Cubs will pull Justin Steele up from AAA iowa.

In the final game the injury bug bit the pitching staff again as Kyle Hendricks would only last 3 pitches before having to come out of the game. Steele was the freshest arm in the pen and was able to go 4 innings as he struck out 5, walked 2 and gave up 3 hits of scoreless ball. The Cubs were able to get on top with a combo of long ball and small ball. In the 1st inning the Baez would hit a solo home run to make it 1-0 and in the 3rd they were able to get 2 singles and a walk to load the bases; Chicago pulled off a safety squeeze with Romine and a bunting SF with Steele to make it 3-0. The Dodgers were able to pull within 2 after Dan Winkler gave up a run in the 8th; they would get a step closer after Max Muncy worked a full count and Kimbrel left a curve in the bottom of the zone - Muncy proceeded to hit that ball off the video board in right field. Kimbrel was able to go after the next batter and ended the game by striking out Lux. The Cubs take 2-1 from the NL’s best in the 3-2 win Chicago got much better news than the previous night's game as Hendo was diagnosed with a strained bicep but will be ready to go for his next start. The Cub will get a well deserved off day after playing 16 straight games before they take on the Pirates

          All-Star Break - 2021

A little over halfway through the season and if the last 2 weeks are any indication the rest of the season might not go well. We sit at 43-47 after going 4-9 since June 28th. Now 4th in the Central, 10 games back of the Twins in 1st. And 6.5 games back of the Red Sox for the 2nd Wild Card spot.

          Spoiler

The offense hasnt been to bad when it comes to getting hits. We are 4th in the majors with a .265 AVG. 6th in hits overall, 12th in doubles, and 1st in triples. Hitting the ball over the wall has not gone so well hitting just 89 so far this year good for 27th overall and putting us 14th in slugging at .418. Getting on base is even worse as we are dead last in walks and 19th in OBP at .324.

Carlos Santana being on in the IL definitely doesn't help. He still leads the team with a .370 OBP and was leading the team in HR at the time of his injury. He has since been overtaken by Hunter Dozier who has become the best hitter on the team. He has a line of .296/.369/.552 with 18 HR and 43 RBI and 57 Runs helping him earn is first all-star appearance. On the other end, you have players like Adalberto Mondesi who has not been good since coming off the IL. Hitting just .214/.275/.286 with no HR in 126 AB.

          Spoiler

Pitching has been better than I thought it would, though with Danny Duffy being out for a bit it's starting to take a turn for the worse. We are 14th in ERA at 3.99, despite being 19th in Hits allowed. If we weren't 5th in HR allowed, 13th in Walks allowed, and 6th in strikeouts that ERA would be much worse.

Duffy and Singer have been battling for best starter so far. Singer has a slightly lower ERA at 3.20 but a slight higher WHIP at 1.29. Duffy had a 3.29 ERA and 1.20 WHIP before landing on the IL. He takes the lead with a higher K/9 and lower BB/9. He should hopefully be back before September. Ohtani spent 10 days on the IL and has been his best on the mound since. He had a 4.30 ERA at the time and has it down to 3.87. We have also been running more of a 6 man rotation so he has a little more time to rest. But it hasnt been working all that well with Duffy out. Mike Minor and Chance Adams have been garbage with a 5.67 and 6.94 ERA respectively.

Things have been pretty good out in the pen. Especially with Wade Davis no longer being there. Scott Barlow and Josh Staumont were our other 2 all-star game participants. Barlow has been absolutely dominant out of the pen leading all relievers in WAR with 1.6. He has a 2.02 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in 62.1 IP. Staumont has saved 21 games out of 22 opportunities. Putting up a 2.56 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. Though our best reliever so far might be Holden Capps with a 1.75 ERA in 36 IP. All together we have 4 relievers with an ERA under 3. 2 more under 4.15. And then you have Greg Holland at 5.28.

          2021 All-Star Game
          Spoiler

Coming out of the all-star break we have 8 straight games against teams 10+ games under .500. So there is a chance we can cut into the Red Sox Wild Card lead a bit. But we definitely need to come out a lot hotter than we went in. If we don't make up any ground there is a chance we trade Carlos Santana if he can get healthy before the deadline but it would be very close. Could possibly move Michael Taylor as well but the market for him wouldn't be all that great. Maybe someone gets desperate if there is an injury.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just posting a quick update on my Astros rebuild franchise. We’re in the middle of May., Yordan Alvarez went down with a somewhat significant injury, he’ll be out at least another month which is unfortunate because he was batting .364 with 5 HRs.

The Indians came to me with a trade offer, they wanted Yuli Gurriel and were willing to give up Triston McKenzie. Yuli is my second best hitter but I honestly couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get another good young arm so I accepted it. This moved McKenzie into my starting rotation and moved Christian Javier into the bullpen.

On a side note, Christian Javier is probably the easiest pitcher I have ever used. He has some good pitches, his delivery is easy to time and even when I miss he is at least near where I wanted to throw it. The reason I ended up moving him to the bullpen is because he has D potential, which sucks because I could honestly see myself dominating with him.

I’ll post a full blown update after the Draft. I’ll throw in some minor league stats because I have some really interesting prospects down there that I really want to keep track of.

I just lost a perfect game with two out in the sixth when Patrick Corbin of all people doubled off me.

Corbin himself has only given up one hit - an Albies homer.

Edit: And Corbin wound up being the only baserunner. A 9th-inning Ozuna single was my only other hit. So I win on two hits, 1-0.

April 2- A's (me) vs Astros

Behind good starting pitching A's win it 4-2.

                    HRs- M. Chapman (1), K. Tucker (1)

April 3- Red Sox (me) vs Orioles

Kremer had Red Sox fooled all day. Orioles win this one 3-1.

Santander drove in his 100th career RBI with a 5th inning rbi double.

Kremer actually came in the 9th to go for the complete game at 106 pitches. He gave up a single to start the inning and was pulled, rightfully so I thought. Loved to see that AI bullpen management. That runner did come around to score after Valdez allowed two hits before eventually striking out the side to close the game.

                    Injuries around the league:

White Sox LF Eloy Jimènez out 1-2 months. LF Mikie Mahtook called up from AAA

Mets RP Seth Lugo out 2-3 months.
RP Jeurys Familia called up from AAA

Cardinals RF Dylan Carlson out for the SEASON with dislocated ankle. Ouch!
CF Lane Thomas called up from AAA

Diamondbacks SP Merrill Kelly out 1-2 months.
SP Jon Duplantier called up from AAA

Giants LF Alex Dickerson out 1-2 months.
CF Steven Duggar called up from AAA

Something I'm going to do as well not have injuries in the minors. I'll sim them separately with injury slider at zero. Honestly from years past I'm pretty sure injuries can and do still occur, just pretty rare. I also turn waivers on manual so I'm not worried about minor league options and stuff. Free to send up and down whoever whenever. Maybe if we ever get a full roster of A ball etc it will be easier to manage.

I won't update until another week has played out and I'll highlight the games played like this. Hopefully not so many injuries to list, geez lol.

                    PotG: Corey Dickerson 2 for 4 1HR 2B

                    April 7: Braves (3 6 0) @ Nationals (2 7 1)

                    W- M. Fried 5ip 5h 6k 1bb 2er
                    L- M. Scherzer 1ip 2h 2k 1bb 1er
                    Sv- W. Smith (3)

*Scherzer left after 1ip with an injury. Ended up being nothing serious, but had to be removed from the game. Unfortunately for him, a lead off single in the top of the 2nd came around to score. Marlins went up 2-0 after 2 innings and never surrendered the lead so Max got a tough loss on his record.
                    * Pablo Sandoval hits his 150th career homerun with a solo blast in the 4th inning.

                    HRs: Freeman (2), Albies (1), Sandoval (1)

PotG: Jesus Luzardo with a 2nd straight dominate start and off to a hot start for his season.

[/B]Injury news:[/B] Only two injuries this week so the league is overall pretty healthy so far.

*Braves SP Ian Anderson out 1-2 months. SP Bryse Wilson called up. Sean Newcomb will take Ian's spot in the rotation as Bryse heads to the bullpen.

*Royals SP Brady Singer out 2-3 months. SP Jakob Junis called up and will be in the bullpen as Ervin Santana will take Singer's spot in the rotation.

Really cool to have played as Greinke opening start for him, then go against him in his 2nd start. Was a different feeling for sure but very fun! Also playing as the team I beat with Greinke made it that much more different haha.

I'll post again to preview next week's games I'll be playing. Again using random number app to decide team playing as. All teams are an option.

Cardinals enter All-Star Break with 48-43 record

The Cardinals have completed the unofficial first half of the season with a record of 48-43 which is good for 2nd place in the National League Central (5 1/2 behind Brewers) and 1 1/2 games out of the wildcard spot.

It was eventful first half that saw the Cardinals deal away Andrew Miller and the arrival of rookie Connor Capel as the club dealt with injuries.

The Cardinals will enjoy the break as they look to start the 2nd half of the season on the right foot and look forward to getting back Tyler O'Neill, Matt Carpenter, amongst others.

The Cardinals will start the 2nd half of the season against the Giants in St.Louis.

Braves take 2 out 3 from the Nats
This was the 1st 3 game series of the year vs. the Nats. Early results are good!
Game 1. We won 4-3. CF Pache gunned down Soto at homeplate. Albies hit a solo blast. It was our first new rule extra inning situation. We took the lead in the 12th and the Nats did not answered.

Game 2. Went to the Nats 3-1. A pitching duel between Morton(Braves) 6.2IP,6H,3R,3ER,1BB & 6K. I tried to get him through 7 innings, but the Nats got to him for 2 runs. The game was tied 1-1. vs Ross(Nats) 6.1IP,7H,1R,1ER,0BB & 2k.

Game 3. We won 3-2. We got our 3 runs early, top of 2nd Inciarte went deep for a 2R Hr.
                          Soroka(6.0IP,7H,2R,2ER,0BB & 4K) out lasted Scherzer(5.1IP,8H,3R,3ER,1BB & 3K).

We are 4-2 on the early start of the season. Back at the Truist for a 7 game homestand. 3 vs. the Phils and 4 games vs. the Marlins.

Damn Countryboy, you already at the all star break playing every game and I’m still procrastinating.

                            I hate myself. LOL!

New to the forums but been playing franchise for a few years. Does anyone know how to handle a bullpen so that you always get a fully rested pitched coming in if they are fully rested before you start warming them up? I always make sure to switch them to “ready and waiting” but sometimes I get the fully rested pitcher sometimes they are already tired when brought in and I can’t figure out why I have that problem. Does anyone else or is that just me?
