Re: ? ? Class Single A question ? ?
question about Class Single A and how to fill those all too few 15 spots in regard to looking to the future,
as it pertains to the ratio of starting pitchers to relief pitchers.
in Double A & Triple it's easy to know you want 5 or 6 starters to 7 or 8 relievers since you have a full 26 rosters spots but in Single A is it actually better to carry and develop maybe 4 or 5 starting pitchers to a couple relievers?
also FWIW, part of my draft strategy is I almost absolutely refuse to waste a draft pick on a reliever (or a leftfielder for that matter) except in rare and extremely special circumstances
so I guess what I'm basically asking, do you guys find that you have more starting pitchers at the Class A level or more relievers, or maybe even the same amount, evenly split?
Starters I carry 20 in the organization
Relivers/Closers I typically carry 30 in the organization combined
Then depending on how I use those 50 pitchers determines how many are in Single A ball.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I'm still in June in my franchise but I noticed on the scroll that for NL ERA leaders the dodgers were 1 - 2 - 3 between Kershaw Bauer and Price; all under 2.10 and think Kershaw's was something filthy like 1.66.Comment

Minnesota Twins May 2021 Review:A Game of Streaks
Minnesota won 11 of 12 dating back to April 27th, then a 3 game sweep by The White Sox brought The Twins crashing back to earth. In fact Chicago has become Minnesota's kryptonite, because in the 6 games against Chicago in the month of May they managed only 1 win and were outscored 24-8.
Minnesota were reeling and looking for an injection of life so #1 prospect (due to Royce injury) Alex Kiriloff was called up to play a little outfield and spell Miguel Sano when he needed a break. The 15th pick in the 2016 draft got his first taste of major league ball for the forgettable playoff matchup against Houston last season going 1-4. He should get many more at bats going forward and remain up the rest of the season in a platoon role.
Going into June The Chicago White Sox and Minnesota twins sit atop the AL central at 30-22.
Draft Highlights: Help is on the Way...sort of
1.26 C. Oscar Ramos (87 potential)
Compensatory SP Rolando Gradoville (79)
....CONTINUED PG 69
Around The Diamond: The Old Guard sit at the Top While most expected Southern California to be the story this season as San Diego and Los Angeles both looked strong. It has been entertaining with SD at 47 wins and LAD at 50. However The New York Yankees are the best team in baseball, sitting at 53 wins at the end of June.Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC

Cardinals sign Marwin Gonzalez to one year deal
The Cardinals have signed 33 year old Marwin Gonzalez to a one year deal worth $4.5M.
Gonzalez played with the Red Sox last year and struggled hitting just .213 with 8 homeruns and 25 RBI's in 198 at-bats.
But Gonzalez is a switch hitter and a versatile fielder which the Cardinals were seeking this offseason, with the Cardinals letting Matt Carpenter walk and Greg Garcia signing elsewhere.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Minnesota Twins July 2021 Review: It All Falls Down
Minnesota opened July at 50-31, 6 games up on the free falling White Sox. But in a matter of 2 weeks, 11 games to be exact they are 53-39, including a 7 game losing streak going into the All Star break. Two sweeps by Chicago (3 games) and lowly Detroit in 4 games had the Twins reeling. That left Minnesota reeling and .5 game back of The Chicago White Sox in the division and only 1 game up on Cleveland.
Around the Diamond: The Angels Get Their Wings The Angels, with Shohei Ohtani (11 HR's and a 2.90 ERA) have rocketed up the division standings after a slow start to the season. They have 49 wins after starting 5-12.Last edited by Bgrd1080; 06-21-2021, 05:55 PM.Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC

[emoji830]︎Indians SP Zach Plesac and 1B Jake Bauers come off the IL. Optioned 2B Owen Miller and SP Tomoyuki Sugano. Plesac, who only started one game before the injury will be in #1 SP role as Beiber is still on the IL for a bit longer.
[emoji830]︎Padres SP Blake Snell will be off the IL finally and will probably get his return start sometime next series at home vs Cubs.

We have concluded the 2021 MLB draft and beginning to think about the trade deadline around the league. Me personally I like to manually trade for AI teams based on division standings and list buy or sell teams then make the most realistic trades I can.
I will list the teams who make sense to acquire the player being traded and use random number to decide which team does, even if that team was me the Padres.
I haven't done this in years but remember the last time I did I traded Paul Konerko from White Sox to I think the Mets and he helped get them to the playoffs so I'd like to do similar trades with this. Trevor Story definitely will be traded somewhere as Rockies are 12.5gb and looking to sell in my book.
Anyways, up next is a big four game series vs the Mets who have their ace deGrom (who has been awful in my franchise) lined up for game one. Check below, pretty wild how Carrasco and deGrom have near identical stats. Crazy lol
Up next: Padres (35-22, 2nd NLW 2.5gb) vs Mets (28-27, 3rd NLE, 3.5gb)
Game one: J. Musgrove (6-2 3.50era 51k) vs J. deGrom (1-4 5.32era 81k)
Game two: M. Clevinger (6-2 3.77era 54k) vs C. Carrasco (1-4 5.32era 76k)
Game three: C. Paddack (0-1 4.30era 17k) vs N. Syndergaard (4-2 3.92era 61k)
Game four: D. Lamet (3-6 3.11era 56k) vs M. Stroman (4-4 5.52era 56k)

Cardinals head to Spring Training to prepare for 2022 season
The winter meeting are complete, the rosters are set and the teams are heading to Spring Training in preparation of the 2022 season.
The Cardinals head to Jupiter with high hopes for the 2022 season after stumbling late last year and missing the playoffs.
There wasn't much turnover to the 2021 roster. Adam Wainwright retired, Matt Carpenter moved on, but for the most part the same team returns. The Cardinals did add Starling Marte to the outfield mix to fill the void left by the Harrison Bader trade last July.
The Cardinals projected 2022 lineup:
2B - Tommy Edman
RF - Dylan Carlson
1B - Paul Goldschmidt
3B - Nolan Arenado
SS - Paul DeJong
CF - Starling Marte
Ca - Yadier Molina
LF - Tyler O'Neill
The bench will be contested for who is their this spring, but two people I think you can lock are Marwin Gonzalez and Justin Williams, who played well in 2021.
The pitching staff is relatively the same. Adam Wainwright did retire, but the Cards bring back their big 3 in Jack Flaherty, Carlos Martinez, and Max Scherzer who the Cards got via trade last year. Hwang Hyun Kim will also be in the rotation with the 5th spot being contested by Daniel Ponce de Leon, Dakota Hudson, and highly touted prospect, lefty, Levi Prater.
2022 Projected Rotation:
Jack Flaherty
Carlos Martinez
Max Scherzer
Kwang Hyun Kim (L)
Daniel Ponce de Leon/Dakota Hudson/Levi Prater (L)
Roberto Osuna was brought in this offseason to add more reliability and depth to the bullpen. He's expected to compete with Alex Reyes for the closer role, as Reyes struggled as the year went on. The rest of the pen should consist of familiar names to the fanbase.
There will be some battles in the bullpen this spring but expect Reyes, Osuna, Giovanny Gallegos, Tyler Webb, John Gant, Hanser Robles, and Genesis Cabrera to be locks.
Jordan Hicks, Ryan Helsley, Kodi Whitley, and Seth Elledge, will battle for the final spot.
So again, not much changeover for a team that won 85 games last year despite significant injuries. They will look to improve that record and get back to the postseason this year.
And it all starts in Florida. First game of the 2022 Spring Training Season will be the Washington Nationals.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Dylan Carlson hits for cycle in Cardinals Spring opener
Dylan Carlson hit for the cycle in the Spring opener for the Cardinals who beat the Nationals 5-2.
Dylan Carlson singled in the first, tripled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and then hit a solo homerun on a 2-2 count in the 7th off of Will Harris to cap the cycle.
Carlson wasn't expected to play past the 6th inning today, but manager Mike Shildt left him in to see if could complete the cycle and he didn't disappoint. Carlson was removed after that at-bat.
Carlson struggled in 2021 spending a lot of time in Memphis as his swing was out of sorts at the beginning of the season. After a trip to Memphis, Carlson came back, was slotted in the 2 spot in the lineup behind Edman and ahead of Goldschmidt and Arenado and increased his batting average from .196 to .248 at season's end.
The Cardinals expect big things from the 23 year old this season and if today was any indication, he's ready for the challenge.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread
The Devils have finished the month of April 11-10 with the offense providing the spark while the pitching has been struggling to find its footing.
In the month of April Jake Cave and Greg Garcia have been carrying the offense both providing 4 HR's and hitting above .350. Jedd Gyorko is off to a slow start hopefully he pulls it together. Also Zack Collins and Adam Haseley have been very cold, might look to make some changes at C and CF if they dont start hitting.
On the Pitching side Brent Honeywell has a 2.10 ERA and Heaney and Porcello have been solid. Merrill Kelly has struggled recently which might make Reynaldo Lopez an option in that spot. The bullpen has been okay thus far with Scott Alexander and Daniel Norris giving quality innings. Pedro Strop has been shaky with a ERA over 6.
The offseason and spring training has come to a close as the 2022 Regular Season is about to begin for the Devils.
2021 Retirement:
Homer Bailey, Rusney Castillo, and Edwin Encarnacion
Free Agency:
Early in the offseason the Devils acquired the services of Kyle Schwarber in Free Agency for 1yr 4M to fill in the hole left by Edwin.
The Devils lucked out acquiring Adam Haseley in Free Agency giving him a 2yr 2.6M deal to play Centerfield.
The Devils made some minor moves acquiring Jacob Nottingham, Kyle Funkhouser, Alex Reyes, and Yu Chang on minor deals.
The Devils also improved the rotation by adding Andrew Heaney to the club on a 2yr 36M deal, Merrill Kelly on a 1yr 5M deal, and Daniel Norris on a 1yr 5M deal for the Pen.
Rule 5:
The Devils were able to swoop in and grab Seranthony Dominguez
Trades:
The Devils reacquired Pedro Pineda from the White Sox for Jeremy Jeffress. They also traded Tyler Thornburg to the Rays for Brent Honeywell
Lineup:
SS: Darnell Sweeney
2B: Greg Garcia
DH: Jedd Gyorko
RF: Jake Cave

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread
Kansas City Royals recap:
Royals 8 Indians 4
Royals 5 Indians 4
Royals 2 White Sox 8
Royals 11 White Sox 6
Royals 2 White Sox 4
The offense has been paced by the HR ball early. Salvador Perez had five in the first four games but has cooled off and is now hitting .211. Carlos Santana has hit four but that number is inflated by a three HR game. Jorge Soler is starting to heat up, homering in two of three games.
Whit Merrifield has began a dismal .122 and Michael Taylor is .109. I feel confident in Whit turning it around more than Taylor.
The starting rotation has been atrocious, going less than 5 innings in 4 of 8 games, but fortunately the bullpen has been fantastic.
The 5-3 Royals will now face the first bit of adversity. In the last loss to the White Sox, both Ryan O’Hearn and Alaberto Mondesi left due to injury. O’Hearn is day to day with a pulled leg muscle and Mondesi will go on the 60 day DL with a torn groin.
Transactions:
Royals recall Ryan McBroom and Erick Mejia from Triple-A
The Royals begin a 10 game home stand, taking on the Angels, Blue Jays, and Rays.
Division Standings:
1. Twins (7-2)
2. White Sox (7-3) .5GB
3. Royals (5-3) 1.5 GB
4. Tigers (5-4) 2.0 GB
5. Indians (2-6) 4.5 GBComment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread
ROYALS WIN MARATHON GAME AGAINST ANGELS
In game one of the home stand the Royals outlast the Angels in 15 innings, 7-6.
Kris Bubic made his first start of the season and was solid through four innings, but was snakebitten in fifth, giving up solo shots to Iglesias, Walsh, and Upton. Wade Davis relieved him, but gave up a run as well before getting through the inning.
The Royals got two HRs from Santana (second multi HR game of early season), and RBIs from Soler and Olivares. Tied at 5 after nine it was time for free baseball.
Despite the auto runner at second, neither team could get the key hit until the Angels suicide squeezed in the top of the 14 to break the tie, but could get no insurance.
In the bottom of the 14th, Raisel Iglesias walked Salvy and Soler to load the bases for Santana. He hit one near the warning track easily bringing in the tying run again but the Royals were turned away.
Angels go down in order in the top of the 15th. Until this point in extras the Royals had used Nicky Lopez to sacrifice runners to third to try to set up a “runner at third with less than two out” scenarios in extras, but that hadn’t worked previous. The Royals instead straight steal of third with Michael Taylor who just beats the throw. On the next pitch with the infield in, Lopez bangs it into LF, securing the first walkoff win of the season for the Kansas City Royals, raising the record to 6-3.Last edited by Stars and Crowns; 06-23-2021, 07:06 PM.Comment
