Re: The streak is officially over.

My streak ended in 19. I bought 20. Likely won't buy 21, I'll try it on GamePass on PC first. Game always played great on the field. The gameplay off the field is the issue for me. Franchise mode received a new depth chart and logic changes. Not enough love to an already shallow mode for me to feel it is worth buying at full price.

Once/if franchise mode receives some much needed work I'll be back day 1, but this year was not that year. I'll give it a try on GamePass like I said, if I don't find it good enough to keep me around I can just stick with 2k21 and OOTP for my sports gaming. I'd love to have The Show in my rotation, but I am not the audience they build this game for any longer and I'm able to see that.

Your missing the point most of us don’t care how much it is or even if it’s fee we prefer 20 because of all the featured taken out that most certainly will not be patched in.

I’ll stick with 20 Evan if this game was given to me for free

I bought the JR edition of 21 and I’m heavily leaning towards going back to 20. I agree it’s not about the money... something just off about 21. Maybe if SOTS is fixed on ps4 and bat sounds are patched I’ll try 21 again but at the moment I’m really not sold

A lot of people here on OS helped shaped this game over the years with their input, now the OS crowd is seemingly getting left behind. No Y2y saves, No sounds of the show on next gen, adjusting sliders cancels out XP??!!, those are huge features to people here.
No sounds of the show on next gen??? Thats another kick in the D*@k

Why go backwards?? Thats what has us so confused.

yeah, that's the way 14 & 15 were the first two years on ps4,
at least being with no way to import music into the game.
I'm sure surprised it took 6 steps backwards.
I thought the thing was it was supposed to be a smoother transit for developers going ps4 to ps5 than the move from ps3 to ps4

MLB 20 The Show is my favorite game. I play it as much as possible from February-November when I have the baseball itch. It got me through the crazy pandemic summer of 2020 when I was stuck at home everyday. My 30-team control franchise is a treasure to me.

Even with all of the sketchiness and secrecy going on at SDS, especially this year, I would definitely buy 21 if it had Y2Y saves. Gameplay improves every year - that I can't really argue.

However, the neglect to franchise mode, the amount of attention to DD, and the removal of long-time beloved features like Y2Y saves and Sounds of The Show have all made the decision pretty easy for me to not get 21.

              That - and I still can't get a PS5.

I preface my frustration with the state of the game with my adoration for MLB 20. I'm worried, though, very worried. I'm a franchise player. I live for building all 30 teams and editing rosters until 3 AM.

But the reality is that The Show is following a scary similar pattern that we've seen with Madden and 2K. When I was a kid, I bought all three games every single year.

Now, I don't buy 2K. I get Madden maybe every other year, and this is the first time without a day one The Show purchase since 2010.

It sucks. Things I love are getting worse and I hate it. Video games are declining when they shouldn't. Star Wars sucks now. (Opinion*!) I barely watch the NBA. Politics are everywhere. Greed is everywhere. I hate it.

It's the end of an era, but I truly hope to get back on the ride for MLB 22. Even if it's just one purchase, I'm speaking with my wallet.

Dude it feels like i wrote this reply. I agree and second everything that you just mentioned

                The streak is officially over.

My run was 08-20 but I won’t be buying 21 (at least anytime soon) for a few reasons; personal and lack of new features.

Personal meaning I have a standard PS4 and a gaming PC therefore I wasn’t going to get a PS5 even if they weren’t on back order. My true hope is that 22 comes to PC.

Feature wise, I’m disappointed with not just the lack of updates but rather the stripping of them.

                1. Sounds of the show is a big lost for me. 20 I already have them loaded. (I know PS4 21 has them but hearing it’s not saving)
                2. Franchise doesn’t seem to have anything to entice me enough to update
                3. No Y2Y saves means I might as well keep playing my 4th season Mets franchise.

The show is the best sports game I’ve ever played. Baseball isn’t my first sport but the show captures its sport better then any other game. I’m sure gameplay wise is great but so is 20 with a full set of features.

I do have a game pass trial from purchasing an Xbox controller so it’ll try 21 on PC (you can play Xbox through windows I believe?) but I’m not thinking my mind will change for points listed above.

My fear is some of these elements might be gone for good. More so SOTS if there truly is a parity agreement, another reason I hope 22 comes to PC.

Isn’t xcloud already available with GamePass Ultimate? Streaming and lag with baseball just doesn’t sound like a good idea though. Lol

                        2009-2020

                        Streak is over.

And not even upset about it. Actually feels great just sticking with an already fantastic game in MLB 20 playing on the PS5

And that is where we will be.

And this has been my personal trend with other sports games:

NHL 19 (my last one and before that we played 16 and before that 13).

NBA 2K18 (finished with this series and this is the version I bought but I play NBA 2K11 more on PS3)

Madden surprisingly enough I have bought every year since John Madden Football on the Sega Genesis. And that streak will continue as I know I will be getting Madden 22 on release for PS5.

Of course I hope MLB 22 starts a new streak for me.....but incredibly and sadly I highly doubt it brings me back. The trend is really obvious.

So rediculous. Implementing the game across different consoles has caused this game to regress

Re: The streak is officially over.

I buy the game every single year despite my criticisms and will continue to do so just because I love baseball and there are no alternatives. With that said, it seems most people in here aren't comprehending that those who aren't buying this year's game aren't doing so because the developers have basically abandoned the demographic that built the game. Before DD, it was us franchise players that provided countless hours of game time and feedback so that SDS could continue building on a fantastic product. The problem is that over the years, many of those loyal franchise players feel ignored and slighted because SDS has basically moved on from franchise improvements and instead decided to chase the almighty dollar by focusing basically ALL of their attention on their baby, Diamond Dynasty.

This year's iteration plays a great game of baseball on the field, no one will deny this, even us "comeback code" proponents. With that said, that doesn't change the fact that we franchise mode players feel abandoned and this year's game, with the removal of Y2Y saves and stripped down franchise mode, has basically supported that decision that we've had it.

Installing 20 on the PS5 as I type. I tried to give 21 a chance but nope. I mainly play RTTS and now that it’s infected with DD I’m out. I just want to play MLB games and not any of that online BS.

This game has become a glorified card collecting game. I’d give my copy away for free if I wasn’t an idiot and bought the early release digital game.

The sad thing is SDS won’t care. They are happy just as long as people are grinding for their little cards.
