Yup and its toxic fanboys like you that can't let others have an opinion. No Oatmeal, I only give out real cookies. Why are you posting in the thread if you aren't involved in the topic except to Troll? Did you buy the game? If the answer is yes. Then move on. You are not part of this conversation. Re: The streak is officially over.

Right there with you. For the first time since MLB The Show 10, I don't have this game on day one. Before I get into the negatives, I have to give the biggest positive:

MLB 20 The Show is my favorite game. I play it as much as possible from February-November when I have the baseball itch. It got me through the crazy pandemic summer of 2020 when I was stuck at home everyday. My 30-team control franchise is a treasure to me.

Even with all of the sketchiness and secrecy going on at SDS, especially this year, I would definitely buy 21 if it had Y2Y saves. Gameplay improves every year - that I can't really argue.

However, the neglect to franchise mode, the amount of attention to DD, and the removal of long-time beloved features like Y2Y saves and Sounds of The Show have all made the decision pretty easy for me to not get 21.

      That - and I still can't get a PS5.

I preface my frustration with the state of the game with my adoration for MLB 20. I'm worried, though, very worried. I'm a franchise player. I live for building all 30 teams and editing rosters until 3 AM.

But the reality is that The Show is following a scary similar pattern that we've seen with Madden and 2K. When I was a kid, I bought all three games every single year.

Now, I don't buy 2K. I get Madden maybe every other year, and this is the first time without a day one The Show purchase since 2010.

It sucks. Things I love are getting worse and I hate it. Video games are declining when they shouldn't. Star Wars sucks now. (Opinion*!) I barely watch the NBA. Politics are everywhere. Greed is everywhere. I hate it.

It's the end of an era, but I truly hope to get back on the ride for MLB 22. Even if it's just one purchase, I'm speaking with my wallet.

So im toxic and a fanboy but then u ask if I have tor game and say the stuff you are saying? Dude I really think you nerd to chill a bit.
I explained why I posted. If every negative though is going to be its own thread it's going to be hard to wade through everything. I got a fantastic idea. Let's agree to disagree but I'm sure both of us will continue to post where we want when we want and cheers over a Choco chip cookie. I think you're taking this way too serious and far right now.

I was just wondering how many people out there, who would normally get this game day 1, decided to put it off. At least for the time being.
I have purchased the show every year for the last 16. As a matter of fact I haven’t purchased any other games but the show in many years. It’s the only game I play. However this year I won’t be buying the new version of the game for the only reason I haven’t purchased a ps5 and I don’t feel really the need to. With the 21 rosters being able to be played on the 20 version of the show, and most likely a better roster than what sds would have generated anyway. Don’t get me wrong I will be buying the future version of the show and the new console but I very well might just skip a year.

That's fair. I honestly didn't buy 30 so some of the issues aren't affecting me directly, but as someone that wanted stadium creator I was going to buy this year. Really hope the next Gen hardware gets easier to find spoke rather than later.

I thought my streak was going to be over until I caved and purchased it yesterday, and boy I’m glad I did! The gameplay is phenomenal! And next gen runs real smooth at least on the PS5.

Re: The streak is officially over.

I was a long time XBox owner; I had the original and had a 360. Never expected I'd become a Sony owner until I decided I had to own the Show back in 2014; so I went out, bought a PS4 instead of the X1 and have bought, or pre-ordered every the Show since.

For transparency's sake I was almost never going to buy this launch day simply because I can't upgrade to a PS5 right now, and with no stadium creator on the PS4 version, felt like I could wait for a sale this year to take the jump. '20 is a great game. I was willing to forgive no Y2Y saves in the belief it was a function with the team hoping changing code in franchise that wouldn't allow it. I was even willing to forgive a handful of changes thinking they were working on porting this to a new system and had a lot of extra things going on with the pandemic.

They lost me this week, however with what seems like a lot of shady things going on behind the scenes; not giving players XP if they change slider sets to fit their needs, the RTTS changes forced for DD, not mentioning that there wouldn't be night games with a Stadium Creator...it just feels...a little gross right now. The game has never been perfect, but it also felt like while DD was important to their financials, they allowed the game to stay in it's own corner, not jumping into the rest of the game.

Hopefully changes will be made, to this version and to later versions of the Show. I'm glad the gameplay remains strong. Everyone has their own purchasing power and if you enjoy the game I think you have every right to. But me? I'm going to be sticking with '20 for the foreseeable future with little inclination to upgrade. And I feel a little sad about that; the Show has become a yearly ritual for me. This baseball season will be that much emptier (as the Cubs suck).

Re: The streak is officially over.

I see I am not alone as a MLBTS 20 refugee and yes while my streak of buying the game every year starting in 2012 and extended until now is not as long as the OP of this thread, my reasons for skipping the game this year is pretty much the same. Lack of Y2Y saves was the deal breaker for me. Things might have been different had I been able to secure a PS5 console. But good luck finding a next gen console not sold by a scalper this year. It isn't happening. Perhaps I will pick up the base PS4 MLBTS 21 game when it goes on sale at the end of the season, or perhaps I am simply just going to continue being a PS4 MLBTS 20 refugee for several seasons. Only time will tell.

I am skipping this year, and I am glad I did. I went over to a friends house yesterday. He just couldn’t help himself and got it. He regrets it. I can’t believe how much they have stripped down franchise mode. I am not a big fan of the new UI at all. It reminds me of when madden made the jump to connected careers. It’s just so dumbed down and simplified. I get that they are trying to make it user friendly for all of the new XBox guys, but it just feels like it’s lost it’s life. I don’t know any other way to put it. I just can’t believe SDS has strayed so far. Everything they are doing just screams EA Sports. They want to be Madden so bad it’s crazy.

it ain't over till it's over

my streak is still intact. quit? never!
did Cal Ripken quit when the Yankees bombed Pearl Harbor?
did Lou Gehrig quit just because Yankee Killer Schilling named his son Gehrig?
did DiMaggio quit after his streak hit 40?
did EA or 2k quit whe.. uhn, bad example.

I still have plenty of playing left in 20, not gonna retire it anytime soon by a longshot,
but at the same time, I'm loving 21, it's a breath of fresh air, a new start for a new era.

there are things I wish that were the same in 21 that was in 20.
but then I remember I still have 20, so I still have those things.
and now I have different things in 21 to go with my other things from 20.
best of both worlds. the glass is all full.

Streak of 2006-2013 for same reason, no SOTS in PS4 2014 release. It adds too much atmosphere to play without for me and so much work to load and assign. Also only play all time rosters which is also a game killer for me not being able to bring them over. Haven’t moved from The Show 19, still enjoying that version.

Why don’t you guys just wait until it’s on sale for 20 or less? It’s what I do every year. Plus by then most of the bugs will be patched.

I continue to really blame online for their lack of effort on franchise and single player DD. There’s just not a lot of money in those modes.

For a lot of us, it is not about the game itself. It plays a great game of Baseball on the field. I don't think anybody here is saying '21 is a bad game.

What I am saying, along with others I believe, is that there is very little value in moving on to the next game. I have an Indians franchise that I have been playing since '14 and is in year 2023. I have a dozen or so classic rosters and Franchises going. I have my Bacon Fictional Franchise that I have become obsessed with. So with no more Carry Over saves I would literally be throwing away thousands of hours of Baseball to move on to '21. There is just no reason to do that. '20 is a great game and plays some of the best Baseball I have ever seen in this format. It has not magically stopped working because the next game has come out. If '21 had carry overs or at least the ability to import rosters I would most likely be playing it right now. But sadly this is not the case and I do mean sadly. I would love to be playing '21 right now. But is just not the game for me this year so the streak that started in '06 has come to and end.

Honestly it has been hard. I have a lot of emotion and life tied up in this game. Some of you know the stories I have shared on here about this game. Yesterday was actually I really hard day not picking this up. My Daughter and I had done so every year. It was a shared experience for us both in our love for the game. Part of me really was heartbroken to not get it.

I have been kind of as *** here and there defending folks staying on '20, for that I apologize. But it is more that just a game to some us, and we get emotional about it. I miss my girl very much at this time of year and not getting the game did not make that any easier.

The end of the day bro, passion is passion. It’s all good and I’d rather have an argument with someone passionate about the game than agree with someone else indifferent.

I’m on the other side of you but for the simple reason of stadium creator. I’ve been begging for it for years so I’m just happy to see it make it’s way finally even if it’s not perfect right now. I’m a franchise offline only type guy but I also am really big into deciding to fictionalize the world by swimming a lot into the future for prospects and building a team from the ground up. One of the big things I’ve always wanted to do was change some stadiums to customize it even more. I’m just happy to finally, after years of asking for it, have it here. Hell Iwas even begging Super Mega Baseball to add create a stadium too lol

Anyway, hopefully future iterations of the game satisfy everyone here.

Yeah I was hopeful for it to. As a huge fan of Bacons Fictional Roster set I had plans in place early for converting the entire league to my own world. But I just can't give up all of the Baseball I have. If they iron out the bugs. Patch that you can play at night etc. I may jump on board. Like I said though the value is just not there for me right now. I hope you enjoy it I really do. It looks and plays like a great game. Its just not the game for me.
