    Re: Franchise Mode 2021 Edition

    Is franchise trading broken?

I was able to make (didn't actually make them just had the other team agree) to some pretty wild trades.

Using the braves I offered the Angels ozuna, inciarte, and maybe some throw in minor league pitcher? Or either ozuna and Inciarte alone for mike trout and the Angels were good to go.

The Angels would never trade trout and definitely not for that.
Seems like you can go get anyone you want for little value lost.

Also haven't seen the morale page like some have posted. Hopefully it's gone. On 20 Freeman would get mad when I hit him 2nd in the lineup (where he actually hits) because he wasn't the "star". Then certain guys wanted a star spot who had no business wanting it. Hope it's gone.

That Freddie Freeman signing is a little concerning, did the Mets do something with Alonso and Dom Smith?

I said I was going to stick with 20 and keep my franchise going but like I do every year I suddenly have the itch to purchase

Anybody having issues with budget, contract extensions in particular? My player salaries for the next two years is 28M. Projected yearly surplus is 50M and available budget is 55M. I’ve got several players up for contract extensions but my “max offer” is 0 and I’m getting the message “you cannot afford to offer this contact at this time.”

Are you offering at spring training or mid year?

Did a few at spring training, that’s all I was able to before I got the message. Simmed to the contract extensions phase mid year and was able to offer a couple very small short term extensions before it went back to 0 for max offer. Maybe I’m missing something but it doesn’t make sense I have all this available budget with a really low payroll and can’t make any meaningful extensions.

You can't spend all of your available budget. There needs to be money saved for arbitration in the offseason, renewables and they block off a certain amount for coaches and to fill the roster.

It's like real baseball you can't give everyone the big extension. Have to go year to year with some guys and have to let some walk.

Also, I’m able to sign free agents for some reason. Max offer is 31M.

Just have 0 funds available for extensions.

I got it but my roster is full and my coaches are all signed for 4 years. Arbitration and renewables can’t be 55 million. It’ll let me spend it all on free agents but won’t let me extend anyone.

I don't remember Stamina progressing in the past. Some players are seeing a small increase.

                        Re: Franchise Mode 2021 Edition

I worked on progression and long term franchise stability today. The positive is that stats seem to hold pretty close to normal. Team stats hold true and so do individual stats on average.

One issue I see is progression especially at the SS position. I believe the cause is the starting roster has too many high potential players at that position. CF also seems to be a little high in that regard. This is one team's roster at the end of season 6.

Here is a video showing what the roster composition looks like then as well.

Progression in itself is not bad. I ran a test with some players and drafted players and compared overalls over the year and levels they were at. There is the ability to drop potential as witnessed by Jackson a SS.(That may be a product of too many SS)

                        https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...33U/edit#gid=0

The bigger issue came later with strange salaries. The trade logic and budgets changed. Players were signing very low salaries and trades were occurring with high rated players making 100-500K. Here is video evidence I am sending to SDS. I thought the contract was a result of no salary room available which you can see by the picture was not the case. This is disappointing hopefully it can be fixed.

The same could be said about the Rockies with Arenado.

Thanks for crash testing for us! A few questions come to mind

Do you notice players progressing/regressing more based on performance, rather than almost completely on potential like previous years?

Have you seen young players (under 30) regress in overall rating?

Are there other additions (gameplay, announcing, presentation, etc) that make it worthwhile for pure franchise players?

I was pretty sure I'd get the game -- but despite a 'core' update, this looks largely like the same game. I'm sure they'll iron out some of the bugs, but on the surface, progression seems similar, trading still has some issues, contracts are better but still flawed if you play multiple seasons, drafting wasn't touched at all. Admittedly without playing the game, it seems like we're paying for a roster update, pinpoint pitching and a bit more consistent fielding mechanic.

If you are playing on ps5, its def worth the upgrade. And its all in the eye of the beholder but even just the like 100 more prospects that are facescanned makes it a worthwhile upgrade for me.

performance progression has been in for awhile. You will see small gains and losses on attributes based on stats. Power will go up with more HR etc. Remember that in real baseball players don't get better because they hit more homeruns, they hit more homeruns because they improve and alot is based on age and peak.

Progression does not look any different than before. Trading and contracts are better and I anticipate that the devs will look to fix some of these things in a patch.

The game is much better than the past. The contracts alone are enough for me. The trade logic is improved just from that!
