Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
Still looking to trade this package for the best reasonable/realistic deal that I can find:
SP Paul Blackburn - 71, 27, C
C Aramis Garcia - 72, 28, B
SS Ray Bolden - 49, 22, A //OR// SS Jeremy Eierman - 23, 69, A
I'm looking to bolster my outfield with a little more offense so looking at the following guys:
Jordan Luplow (Indians) - 75, 27, B
Mike Yastrzemski (Giants) - 84, 30, B
Avasail Garcia (Brewers) - 77, 29, C
Mitch Haniger (Mariners) - 75, 30, C
David Dahl (Rangers) - 76, 27, B
Jordan Luplow is still relatively young but the Indians have Franmil Reyes and a 69 OVR, A POT prospect behind them. Yastrzemski has the highest OVR by far but he's older.
The Giants are actually doing quite well so far and the Indians are killing it. The Rangers are the worst team in the league, and the Mariners and Brewers are both comfortably below .500.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
The Jays currently have Hernandez and Gurriel both on the trade block. What do you think it would take to get Hernandez? Doesn't have to be specific players but rough idea of OVRs and POTs.
Same question for Gallo but I'm guessing he'll be very expensive.Last edited by Mackrel829; 05-02-2021, 02:17 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
These guys are definitely the type of player I'm after but I think they're too good for what I'm willing to give up. I've got some good, young talent that I'm looking to build around and only want to give up players on the periphery of my roster to get marginally better.

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
So I've just been through the draft and have a little more info about the team going forward. I have the following package that I can trade away:
SS Jeremy Eierman - 23, 69, A
C Austin Allen - 26, 69, B
SP Henry Tanaka - 22, 70, C
Would this be enough to get Joey Gallo? The Rangers have continued to be the worst team in the league and are currently 15-43. Do teams trade within division in baseball though? It's fairly uncommon in other sports. Is this enough to give up for him? I tried including a younger A potential catcher but the CPU will only accept with Allen instead for some reason.
The other catcher is 24, 67, A. I also have a higher upside pitcher who I could swap Tanaka out for who is 18, 65, A.
If it's not enough for Gallo, would it be enough for Gurriel Jr or Hernandez? Which are the Blue Jays more likely to trade out of the two?
Appreciate the advice so far!Last edited by Mackrel829; 05-02-2021, 07:50 AM.Comment

You think the initial package is enough for Gallo or should I throw in the better pitcher?Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
The #4 and #16 is too high for Gallo. I think your current package is goodComment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
I feel like a lot of teams would be interested in Gallo if he was available and the Rangers are in my division so I ended up going with the better pitcher. I also felt fine giving up the lesser guy which often indicates the trade is light.
The trade ended up as follows:
Athletics get:
- RF Joey Gallo - 27, 89, A
Rangers get:
- SP Taylor Heard - 18, 65, A
- SS Jeremy Eierman - 23, 69, A
- C Austin Allen - 26, 69, B
Gallo hit a 451 yard bomb on his very first pitch as an A so already paying dividends! Thanks for the help!Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
What sort of trade value do relief pitchers generally have? I'm approaching the trade deadline and would like to add one more solid guy to my bullpen.
I have two good arms in JB Wendelken and Jake Diekman, as well as Trevor Rosenthal as my closer but all of my other guys are old and declining quickly. I don't need anything special, just a solid arm who can be somewhat reliable for an inning or two a game to tide me over until the off-season.
What would a 28 year old, 75-78 overall, B potential relief pitcher on a bad team pitcher fetch in a trade? I'm guessing I should be able to get a guy like this pretty cheap?
I still have this lottery ticket type prospect sitting around:
Ray Bolden - 22, 50, A
Is that enough? That plus an MLB ready rotational player?Comment

-Contract
-Years remaining
-WAR (Essentially a bunch of stats mixed together).
And, if it's a prospect, it's based on their future value (Which is based on their place on prospect lists).
So, for the purposes of the question "How much value does a reliever have?", it's not huge. Consider that the most valuable relievers in the league right now, when it comes to surplus value are guys like James Karinchak, Diego Castillo, Devin Williams, and Josh Hader, none of whom are valuable enough to even get a sniff at a top 100 prospect (Though bigger named guys like Hader may have enough name-inspired clout to get someone, and Williams will likely have a pretty big mid-season bump on his value).
Obviously if it's just some ho-hum reliever with a year or two of control remaining, giving up a lotto ticket probably makes sense. As a Jays fan, I'd compare it to the David Phelps trade (Thomas Hatch), or where the Jays got a fringy prospect for Daniel Hudson.
Long story short, yeah, it probably works.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Yeah there's no way I'm trading either of my top two prospects.
