Re: MLB lockout
I don’t play season/franchise mode.
I only play games in exhibition mode (in addition to RTTS) every year.
The fact that we can’t toggle DH on and off in exhibition mode is honestly a bad look for Sony. They had that in All-Star Baseball/MVP Baseball games over a decade ago. How the hell is that not an option in todays age of video games?PSN: MrMet2488

Re: MLB lockout
The only thing impact if it lasts into the season would be opening day rosters and maybe coaching changes. Attributes are calculated on previous stats.
I'd like to see the owners resist the universal DH but I doubt they will. I expect the season to start on time.≡Comment

Re: MLB lockout
Most sports games stick to a regimented yearly schedule, but the next installment in the MLB The Show franchise could be in unexpected trouble.

One, Sony has an agreement with the MLBPA. The Show is not just an MLB game....its an MLB/MLBPA game. All the writer has to do is look at the back of the box to see the MLB Players logo which indicates that they have a MLBPA license.
Assuming Sony's license is still active (which it likely is), Sony has the right to use the player's image and likeness in the game....no matter if there is a lockout or not.
Two, the lockout has no connection to the game. MLB no longer has a CBA with the MLBPA. Thats why you arent seeing MLB use player images right now. Sony has an agreement with both so they will likely be able to use both the MLB IP and the MLBPA IP and player likenesses no matter what.
Three, if the game is delayed, it will be because Sony doesnt want to release a game when baseball is dark not because they cant release the game.
Ive never seen a game cancelled because of a threat of a lockout. NBA 2k12 released on time during the 2011 lockout.
Madden 12 regularly announced features and previewed the game during the 2011 NFL lockout. Even though the lockout ended 2 weeks before release, EA never indicated that they were planning to delay or cancel that version.
NHL never released during a lockout but they released multiple games days before a lockout was announced and when the entire world knew one was coming.
I would bet my house that Sony still releases the game on time even if there are no games. It may not have a ton of updates. It may focus more on classic teams, players and stadiums (like 2k did during the NBA lockout) but the game is coming out.Comment

Re: MLB lockout
yes the article is clckbait however.. we are gonna have some issues with this years game.. none of ANY new CBA rules will be in the game this year because their simply isn't enough time.. so no new playoff wild card teams. extra innings rules if changes are made to that. the DH rule isn't a issue as we can choose now anyway. and then of course the franchise part of it with service time etc who knows what changes are there. do the Cleveland Guardians have new uniforms yet?? that is another thing that has to be put into the game. I don't think they have official jerseys yet
I have decided to stop playing MLB 21 and take a break for a while so that it builds up my excitement for 22 and not burn myself out on 21 before then and not worry about if Y2Y saves are in and just get 22 on day one this time.Comment

And the lockout is preventing the Guardians from announcing uniforms? I know they can't have players model, fine just put the new unis on mannequins.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: MLB lockout
I can't remember a year where MLB have actually patched in and changed rules. the one that has been annoying the crap out of me the last 2 years is the 8 pitchers minimum rule. it screws the Angels up with Ohtani. they basically have to keep a 25 man roster not 26 man because of it because he is counted as a pitcher not a position player so can't have a 6 man rotation so have to play the send up and send down manual way workaround.. We can't blame the game on this though the last 2 years that was actually suppose to be the rule but they didn't have it in because of Covid. but they didn't patch it in at all and could have which makes me doubt that they would patch any new rules in.Comment

Re: MLB lockout
The lockout could be affecting the the Guardians unis but not why you think it would. The team owns the unis and the marks/logos so they can announce it when ever they want. The issue is likely that they wont be able to sell jerseys with player's names on it until the lockout ends.Comment
