This would be cool for sure. The Show is definitely lacking in some of the more advanced stats. WAR was a nice addition a few years ago, but there's a lot of metrics--especially on the defensive side of the ball--that would be cool to see implemented.Chicago Cubs

Re: MLB The Show 22 Technical Test Starts on February 17 - Download Available Now
So I played about two games. Thoughts. First, man I hate having my gamertag plastered on the screen. Just because it makes one of my preferred cameras unusable for me because a right handed pitcher's release point in the name.
Second, and I know there's a ways to go, but pinpoint feels a little better. I was on Hall of Fame, and hitting my spots felt about as hard as playing on Legend with control and consistency both at 0. I'll probably go to legend and see how that feels. But it's a step in the right direction. I even walked a couple batters.
Third, hitting. Kinda did the new anchor thing with zone hitting. That said, I still suck. I settled on using Pure Analog last year; this year they seem to have renamed it "timing" and made it so it's compatible with button swinging for a pure timing input method. I'll probably just use that this year. Felt pretty good to me once I tried that.
Fourth, bunting. Feels a little better this year. Drag bunts are harder to connect with and don't just rocket past the P/1B most of the time. And non drag bunts seem to vary more; they don't seem to come off the bat quite as hard either.
Fifth, the Guardians uniforms look so similar to their Indians uniforms. I get that that was what they were going for, but man it's so disappointing how bland they are to me.
Sixth, Swanson's and Riley's stances are much better this year. And I like that Tyler Matzek got a head scan it seems.
Seventh, outfielders are still way too fast, I know I'll be turning that down in sliders pretty quickly.

Yeah not sure why they need to have gamertags all over the screen this year since Ramone practically encouraged every body to talk about and share the tech test online. It made sense in previous years when they didn't want stuff leaking out, but now it kind of seems like a nuisance

Played one game. Game felt and looked exactly like last year. Almost no difference to my eyes, maybe a touch sharper, but almost negligible. Legend hitting is still laughable in that you can be right on a pitch and it just consistently goes right to a fielder. Hall of Fame hitting yields far more realistic results.

I think I’m gonna stay away from this tech test. I’d properly just set myself up for disappointment. They often add quite some improvements in the last month so I’ll sit it out ‘till launch."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Technical Test Starts on February 17
Thus far (3 games) the gameplay of the pre-release version of '22 doesn't jump out as significantly different than '21. Last year there was a very noticeable difference in the fielding/gameplay of '21 in the BETA than '20.
The new scorebug is nice (win percentage is dumb), there are new gameplay options (lock PCI in zone when hitting, fielders name/ability icon under fielder) but they aren't for me, and the crowd seems more energetic (hard to tell because with no commentary they are enhanced), but other than that, I'm not noticing anything really different when I play.
Really looking forward to March 3rd with the gameplay stream and also the March 17th stream (MtO/Presentation and possibly franchise mention) to see whats new.
Yes I understand its early and its a work in progress but the game just doesn't have the same differentiating feel to when playing the BETA like '21 did over '20.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

So besides no graphical upgrades gameplay also feels pretty much the same? Man I hope they kept some new gameplay elements out of this built otherwise I really don’t see any reason to buy this year’s game. Would be the first I skip since ‘08 [emoji53]Last edited by LastActionHero; 02-17-2022, 10:12 AM."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Technical Test Starts on February 17 - Download Available Now
I decided to download the test and give it a go on my PS5.
Most here know my feelings on 21 and how I prefer the gameplay in 20.
I played a game on 22 playing as Atlanta. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by the gameplay. It felt closer to 20 than it did to 21. Obviously a tiny sample size, but it was less home run or bust in this game, though I did get a solo shot from Albies. Outfielders move a bit too fast still and need their speed lowered by sliders.
The check swings seemed to be a bit better than they were in 21.
There is still some random ball bobbling on easy ground balls then the usual recovery to either make the out or result in a hit instead of an error. This happened 3 times in the game for me.
Yankee Stadium's scoreboard seemed glitched. The bio for players seemed to be pasted daigonally over the scoreboard. Maybe it is meant to be that way. Playing as an AL central team I don't play much at Yankee Stadium.
I am going to play another game tonight but after that Horizon Forbidden West comes out and well that takes priority.
Better than 21? To me, I would say a little better.
Better than 20? Nope.
Overall? It is still not enough to convince me to move on from 20. They need to make some serious upgrades to franchise (they won't, this is just my need). The gameplay is a bit better than 21 but 20 still feels better.Funkycorm

There may very well be changes that I haven't encountered or noticed, which may be explained in the gameplay premiere, but it doesn't jump out at me like '21 did over '20.
That not necessarily a bad thing as the gameplay was great in '21 in my opinion.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

The game looks and plays almost identical to 21 on the PS5. The only difference I noticed was a relay from RF to SS to C was much quicker and much more smooth than in 20.

True but I would love new things like perfect throws to bases from the outfield as well instead only to homeplate. And my personal wish is a marriage between button accuracy and analog throwing. The analog throwing mechanism with the meter from button accuracy."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

To this point, are the Indians uniforms now going to be classic uniforms where you can still select them or do you think they will just be removed completely?Comment
