Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Two years ago this April 15th I was admitted to the T. Boone Pickens cancer center at Baylor Hospital in Dallas and although I don’t remember much of the first two weeks this thread was one of the things I really looked forward to reading for the next two months. This is something that nobody really thinks about when they are posting their franchise details. Being away from your home for 2 1/2 months sucks bad enough but at least when I didn’t doctors or family there, I always had the Franchise discussion thread to read.
Keep on posting, it’s good for the soul.
I always hope to bring joy to people, even if it's just a distraction from the everyday grind. I've used sports and video games as an escape from many a problem, from bad days at work, to breakups, to bouts of depression. I never thought of posting on here, I created this account over ten years ago to get sliders for something...NBA 2k12 or MLB 2k12...I'm not even sure. I don't even relate to my username anymore, I used to go drag racing with my dad but can't anymore due to work. Haven't since I was little..Anyway, it's been that long, but when I started reading people's franchise reports after I bought MLB 22, I thought...hey, this is good for me to do, and maybe people will enjoy it. I was not expecting people to enjoy reading my franchise updates, but I wasn't expecting on making into a second year of a Nationals rebuild either haha.
That being said, stories like this are what make sports (and video games) special, at least to me. I'm not a soccer fan, I've tried, but I can't do it. But I lost my grandma two days before Christmas of last year, and the last few weeks of her life were hell for me. The World Cup kept me sane, it kept me going, the joy and passion of all the fans and players was uplifting for me. I know someone else on this board lost someone several months ago (I'm not going to name names) and they too used this board as a coping mechanism. I think it's wonderful, and I have every intention of keeping it going.
I'm not even sure if I hit the point I was trying to make, but I'm truly touched by your story and I hope everything is going well for you now.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

I am still on the fence of either running with my Mets or taking a rebuild team like the A's or someone. If I go rebuild I would want to trade Brett Baty , Alex Ramirez, and Ronny Mauricio to that team as they are my favorite Met minor league guys just have to find a way to make it look realistic.
So we will see I still have a week :wink:Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

As far as restarting franchises, I’m not really sure what to tell you. I did a Reds franchise and I just never connected to that team. I went ahead and waded through 162 games with them. I probably should have restarted myself on that one.🇺🇸 58,281 🇺🇸Comment

Yes, I really wasn’t sure that there was a bigger Cardinal fan than myself but CB might be. I always looked forward to his updates along with others. Now I look forward to Dragster Nats updates as well.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
The Nationals (28-32) return to Nationals Park after a much needed day off to face the Angels (27-34). Not much to say about the Angels, as they are doing what they seem to do every year, which is not live up to what anyone would expect from a team with two of the best players on the planet. They also added a big bat to their lineup in the form of Kyle Schwarber, who enters this series only batting .215. The Angels are also missing Luis Rengifo, who is coming off a great season but will miss the entire 2023 campaign with a torn achilles.
The Nationals recalled SP Jackson Rutledge from Triple-A once they returned to DC, and made the tough decision to send SS Anderson Tejeda back to Rochester. Tejeda played well, but the Nationals want Brady House to be their starting shortstop for now and Tejeda started the season at AAA and therefore will not be using any options. He will most likely be recalled at some point in the season.
Game One: Griffin Canning (0-4, 7.02) vs Stephen Strasburg (4-5, 1.90)
Both offenses were stifled by the starting pitchers, but the Nationals finally broke through in the sixth when Brandon Nimmo reached second after a dropped third strike and throwing error by Max Stassi. Luis Garcia would follow with a two run home run. The Angels would counter in the eighth when Kean Wong walked and scored on a Max Stassi double. Strasburg would get out of the inning and Trevor Rosenthal would come in to close it out, striking out Mike Trout and getting Kyle Schwarber and Taylor Ward to ground out.
Game Two: Michael Lorenzen (4-3, 4.52) vs MacKenzie Gore (4-5, 3.53)
Gore got through the first inning by getting David Fletcher and Mike Trout to ground out, with a strikeout to Shohei Ohtani in between them, but gave up a solo home run to Kyle Schwarber to start the second. Shohei would go yard in the third, but Gore would rebound and strike out Mike Trout right after. The Nationals would tie the game in the bottom of the third after a Brady House lead off single, and back to back two out doubles by Brandon Nimmo and Luis Garcia. Shohei Ohtani would drive in another run with two down in the fifth when he hit a weak fly ball that dropped just fair between third and left. Mike Trout would follow with a double, making it 4-2 in favor of LA. MacKenzie Gore would go 5 innings, giving up the four runs on eight hits, with one walk and five strikeouts. Jackson Rutledge would enter in the sixth and go two innings, giving up no hits and striking out one. The Nationals had scoring opportunities in the sixth and seventh but could not capitalize. Colin Poche would enter from the pen to pitch the eighth and give up a walk to Mike Trout, who would steal second and score on a Kyle Schwarber base hit. Poche would rebound and strikeout the next two batters, but the Nationals could not score and would lose this game 5-2.
This was an interesting series that definitely favored the pitching staffs as these teams only see each other for one series a year. The Angels did not play Ohtani in game one but did have him bat second in game two, and he played a crucial part in their victory. (I’ll break the fourth wall here and say I actually changed the Angels lineups because Ohtani not in it, this is the beauty of 30 team control. I wish I would have paid attention to this prior to the first game but oh well. Ohtani does bat against other CPU opponents and has 8 home runs and around 30RBI).
The Nationals stay in DC and welcome in the Brewers for four games before heading back on the road.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
The beavers finished the month of April with a 5-22 record currently 14 games back of the Rays lol. I definitely thought we would be bad but not this bad. The team started out 1-16 but finished better at the end of the month with the bats finally waking up.
Offensive Studs:
Anderson Tejada has been leading the way with a .347 and 6 Home runs. Stevie Wilkerson and Mitch Moreland have both been solid as well hitting above .250 and 5 home runs a piece. On the bench Mikie Mahtook has been solid and will look to get him some more at bats.
Offensive Duds:
The bottom half of the order hasn't been great. Aquino, Bradley, Davis, Telis, and Wilson are all hitting below .230. on the bench Nogowski hasn't done much and Jeff Mathis is just there for his glove lol.
Pitching Studs:
No one in the rotation unfortunately. In the bullpen on the other hand James Norwood has a 2.16 Era with Bergen posting a 1.23 and Morgan with a .66 era.
Pitching Duds:
Pretty much the whole starting rotation besides Henderson Alvarez who has been okay. Willis, Stewart, and Bracewell both have era's over 5. Kazmir got moved to the bullpen after having an era over 10 and has been a little better.
Transactions:
The Beavers optioned Felix Bautista to Triple A and Ryan Hendrix was claimed off waivers after acquiring Shane Greene.
Hope to win more than 5 games this month we shall see lol. There will definitely be more moving parts this month as well. I want to try and mix more guys in.Hey guys so i decided to start up my franchise using 22. I will be doing a complete rebuild and relocate the Baltimore Orioles and moving them to Portland and bring back the Portland Beavers! We will be playing at Crosley Field which most resembles the actual ballpark. I have distributed players from the Orioles around the league for instance, Cedric Mullins is with the Mets, John Means with the Phillies, and Austin Hays is with Miami. I'll be using Ridin Rosters with my own tweaks on potentials. My team will be filled with all Free agents and some minor leaguers from the Orioles. I will be Quick Managing the majority of the games but also playing a bunch as well. Extra innings rule is on as well as quick counts. I'll be doing updates every month since there will definitely be a lot of moving parts. I'm going to try and keep this as realistic as possible no crazy trades or singings; waivers are fair game though. Hope you guys enjoy, this will definitely be a challenge!

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
2023 Washington Nationals
The Nationals (29-33) are set to play the Brewers (28-33) in a four game series. The Brewers lost their ace Corbin Burnes for the season in the very first game of the year and that was the death knell of their year. The rotation is now led by Brandon Woodruff, who is more than capable of being their ace, but the rest of the rotation is young and inconsistent. The bullpen has some big names, but in reality they are not the players they once were. Aroldis Chapman is being used as a middle relief pitcher, and they are relying on Brad Boxberger to be their closer. In terms of position players, Milwaukee has added the likes of Trayce Thompson, Adam Frazier, and Gary Sanchez, but none of them are in the everyday lineup. The middle of the lineup has a lot of power, but a lot of swing and miss as well (Keston Hiura, Hunter Renfroe, Willy Adames).
Game One: Freddy Peralta (3-4, 4.80) vs Josiah Gray (4-5, 2.78)
The Nationals struck first in this series, as Gleyber Torres hit a solo home run in the second. Brandon Drury led the inning off with a single but was thrown out trying to advance to second on a ball in the dirt just prior to Torres’ homer. The Brewers would respond in the third. Jackson Chourio, the highly touted 19 year old, singled and stole second, Kolten Wong would draw a walk and Keaton Hiura would launch a hanging slider for a three run home run. Chourio would add to the lead with a solo home run in the fourth that would take Gray out of the ballgame. His line was not great, just 3.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts (he threw 88 pitches). Jackson Rutledge would be called upon to provide long relief. He would go three innings, giving up a two run home run to Hunter Renfroe along with four other hits, one walk, one hit batter and two strikeouts. Colin Poche would enter with two outs in the seventh and finish off the game without allowing any more runs. The Brewers would go to their bullpen for the last four innings, allowing only one run when Brandon Nimmo doubled to bring in CJ Abrams.
Game Two: Eric Lauer (5-4, 3.10) vs Zach Davies (3-5, 3.47)
The Nationals entered the game with the worst rated offense in all of baseball, but it sure didn’t look like that in the first inning. With one out, Ildemaro Vargas singled, Brandon Drury walked, and Joey Meneses singled to load the bases for Gleyber Torres, who would hit a grand slam, the first of the year for Washington. Milwaukee would cut the deficit in half when Keaton Hiura hit a two run shot in the fourth, but Washington responded in the bottom half when Enrique Hernandez followed Victor Robles’ single with a two run home run to make it 6-2. Eric Lauer’s day would be over after the fourth. He gave up six runs on six hits with two walks and one strikeout. Aroldis Chapman would be the first man out of the bullpen. He was cruising for an inning and a third before hitting Gleyber Torres and giving up another two run home run to Kike Hernandez. Zach Davies' day was over after the sixth, and he only gave up two runs on five hits, with no walks and 2 Ks. Kyle Finnegan, Victor Arano and Aaron Bummer would pitch the last three innings, and the Brewers managed to score two more runs by playing small ball, but never truly threatened and the Nationals won this one 8-4.
Game Three: John King (1-3, 4.64) vs Cade Cavalli (3-5, 4.00)
The middle of the Brewers lineup continued to give the Nationals fits, as Willy Adames started the scoring with a solo shot in the second. Milwaukee would add on when Kolton Wong doubled to score Tyrone Taylor from first. The Nationals would respond in the third when Kike Hernandez and Wilmer Perez hit back to back doubles. Keston Hiura injured a finger diving for the ball at first on Perez’s double and had to leave the game*. It is too early to tell the extent of the damage. Paul DeJong replaced Hiura at first. The Brewers would load the bases in the fourth but would only get one run via a sac fly by Christian Yelich. Cade Cavalli was pulled after going just 4.1 innings with the three earned runs on 11 hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Kyle Finnegan would again be called upon in relief and pitch 1.2 innings of shutout ball while racking up 4 strikeouts. The Nationals got a run back in the seventh after Lane Thomas singled and Kike Hernandez was hit by a pitch. Wilmer Perez would hit a ground ball to short but Willy Adames would throw the ball into right field allowing Thomas to score and putting a man on second and third with just one out. The Nationals could not capitalize on a golden opportunity as Brady House, who has struggled since returning from his injury, flew out to second and Luis Garcia flew out to center. Washington would call upon Carl Edwards Jr to pitch in the ninth in a 3-2 game, and he would give up a home run to Christian Yelich on the very first pitch he threw. The Brewers used a combination of Devin Williams (1.2 innings) and Aroldis Chapman (.2 innings) to close out the game, and the Nationals had chances but it was not to be.
*Keston Hiura avoided major injury as the finger is just strained and he will only miss a few days.
Game Four: Aaron Ashby (1-2, 3.09) vs Stephen Strasburg (5-5, 1.82)
The Nationals got off to a promising start, drawing two walks to start the bottom of the first. Brandon Drury would hit a swinging bunt that would allow both Ildemaro Vargas and Victor Robles to advance before Joey Meneses singled, scoring both. The early offense would be cut short as Gleyber Torres would bounce into an inning ending double play. Washington would add a third run in the second inning when Wilmer Perez grounded out to short, Willy Adames made a great play to get Perez at first but the runner scored from first. Paul DeJong hit a solo home run off of Strasburg in the third to give the Brewers their first run. The Nationals would load the bases with one out in the fourth, which would end Aaron Ashby’s day. He left the game giving up three runs on five hits, but walked five while only striking out one. The Nationals wouldn’t capitalize on yet another great scoring opportunity as Victor Robles would fly out to Hunter Renfroe, who would gun down Brady House at the plate. The Brewers would finally get to Strasburg in the seventh, as with two outs Luis Urias singled and Paul DeJong doubled off the wall, and the ball rolled so far into center that he was able to advance to third. DeJong would score on a game-tying single by Christian Yelich. Strasburg would have to settle for a no decision after having a fantastic start, going 7 innings with three earned runs on five hits, two walks and eleven strikeouts. Aaron Bummer gave up the lead in the eighth when Jackson Chourio doubled off the wall to score Sal Frelick, who came on as the pinch hitter for Hunter Renfroe (he led the inning off with a single). Hoby Milner and Devin Williams would pitch the eighth and ninth and shut the Nationals down to get the come from behind win.
It was a tough series for both teams, as they were pretty evenly matched up and had to use a lot of bullpen arms. The Brewers take it 3-1 because of their offensive production, and the Nationals really need to find their groove back soon as they are slowly slipping in the standings. They are already in last place in the East, but if they can get on a run they can still find themselves in the hunt for a Wild Card spot.
The Nats (30-36) will now travel to Philadelphia to play the Phillies for a three game series.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
2023 Washington Nationals
Game 1: MacKenzie Gore (4-6, 3.77) vs Noah Syndergaard (4-5, 3.96)
The Phillies offense started the game aggressive, swinging early in the count and seemingly not worried about working up Gore’s pitch count. It led to an early lead for them, as Edmundo Sosa would single and Dalton Gurthie would follow with a two run home run in the second inning. J.T. Realmuto singled in the fourth and stole second but injured his wrist in the process. He was in a lot of pain and the Phillies must be concerned that they might lose one of their best players for quite some time*. Rob Brantly would be his replacement, and would score when Brandon Marsh singled. The Nationals finally got to Syndergaard in the eighth. They had several hard hit balls but most of them were line drives or fly outs. Yadiel Hernandez hit a base hit to center and Brandon Drury finally broke out of a slump by hitting a no doubter to left center to make it a 3-2 game. That would knock Syndergaard out of the game. The Phillies would go with Daniel Hudson out of the ‘pen to get the last out in the eighth before turning it over to Seranthony Dominguez in the ninth. He would retire the Nationals in order to give the Phillies the win in game one.
*J.T. Realmuto suffered a fractured wrist and will miss 2-3 months.
Game Two: Josiah Gray (4-6, 3.12) vs Zack Wheeler (4-7, 3.00)
Zach Wheeler tends to have success against Washington, but they scored first in this one as Luis Garcia and Yadiel Hernandez hit back to back singles before Joey Meneses came through two batters later with an RBI knock. The lead would not last long, Rhys Hoskins would double in Jean Segura with two down in the bottom of the first, and Brandon Marsh would follow up with a double of his own to score Hoskins. Lane Thomas responded by leading off the second with a solo home run to tie the game again. The Nationals would continue the pressure with a base hit from Keibert Ruiz, and an error by Scott Kingery that allowed Brady House to reach base. Brandon Nimmo would hit into a double play, but Washington would regain the lead when Luis Garcia singled to right to score Ruiz. There were more injury woes for Philly in the third as Jean Segura injured a his hand sliding into second*. Philadelphia is already missing Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto and Bryson Stott for a lengthy period, so this could be another in a growing line of injuries. They would still tie the game in the third when Rhys Hoskins singled to right to score Amed Rosario. The Phillies would load the bases with one out in the fifth, which would be the end of the day for Josiah Gray. Kyle Finnegan would enter and give up an infield single to Scott Kingery to give the Phillies the lead. Adam Engel would follow with a sac fly and Matt Vierling singled to make it 6-3. That would close the book on Josiah Gray who would finish with 4.1 innings pitched, six earned runs on nine hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Washington came right back in the sixth; Lane Thomas and Keibert Ruiz connected on back to back home runs on back to back pitches to chase Wheeler from the game. Kyle Gibson, the former starter, would come in with one out and get out of the inning without further damage. The Nationals nearly tied the game in the seventh but Brandon Marsh made a fantastic diving catch to rob Joey Meneses of an RBI single. That may have been the key play of the game as neither team would score afterwards.
*X-rays show that Jean Segura broke his hand and will miss 1-2 months.
Game Three: Zach Davies (4-5, 3.43) vs Joe Ross (5-1, 2.80)
Joe Ross gets the opportunity to start against his former club, the same club he spurned in free agency. The last time he faced them was in a relieving role and the Nationals let him have it. He has since moved back into the rotation and has found success.
The Nationals would have the first real scoring opportunity in the third, when they managed to load the bases with one out, but Yadiel Hernandez and Brandon Drury both flew out to end the threat. They would get another chance in the seventh when there was a man on first and third with only one out but CJ Abrams struck out and Brandon Nimmo flew to center.
The Phillies would finally have a scoring opportunity in the bottom of the seventh and would take advantage of it. They would get singles from Brandon Marsh and Scott Kingery before Dalton Guthrie would hit a two out base hit to drive in Marsh and chase Zach Davies from the game. Both bullpens would do their jobs and the Phils take the game and sweep the series.
Another disappointing series for the Nationals, and they have lost each of their last four games but just one run a piece. They need to really turn things around soon as they are now nine games under .500 . They will have to play the Cardinals next, a team that looks like a real title contender this year.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
The beavers finished the month of May with a 11-45 record currently 25.5 games back of the Rays lol. At least we won one more game then last month, hopefully we'll keep improving. Lots of moving parts this month trying to see who is going to stick.
Offensive Studs:
Anderson Tejada still is my best hitter leading the way with a .299 and 8 Home runs. Stevie Wilkerson and Mitch Moreland have both been solid as well hitting above .250. Mikie Mahtook is now the starting left fielder and has been solid so far. On the bench Yoshi, Nick Heath, and Juan Lagares have been pretty good.
Offensive Duds:
The bottom half of the order still hasn't been great. Still trying to figure out whose going to stay longer than this year.
Pitching Studs:
No one in the rotation unfortunately still. In the bullpen AJ Cole has been great in the long relief with a 3.05 Era in 62 innings of work. Shane Greene was a solid pickup and Adam Morgan has been the best now In the closer role.
Pitching Duds:
Pretty much the whole starting rotation still besides Casey Lawrence who might be okay. Everyone else has been bad just trying to find guys to give us quality innings of work.
Injuries:
Henderson Alvarez Fractured Forearm 2-3 months.
Transactions:
Designated Scott Kazmir for assignment. We recalled Matt Carasiti to the pen. Claimed Jared Hoying and Casey Lawrence off waivers. Designated Khris Davis for assignment. Recalled Nick Heath from Triple A. Claimed Yoshi Tsutsugo and optioned Bobby Bradley. Claimed Kent Emmanuel and optioned Kohl Stewart. Recalled Erich Uelmen from Triple A optioned Luis Escobar.
I hope to keep improving and seeing who's going to stick around. There will definitely be more moving parts this month as well. Looking forward to the draft this month and maybe some early trades.
