Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Can anyone explain what’s going on with the Dodgers and Dustin May & Danny Duffy?

Started a fresh chise with no injuries and despite both being healthy and rated very highly the CPU wants to remove both of them from the 40-man immediately.

Dustin May in particular I don’t get. He’s like 81 ovr with A-potential, I slot him as their #3 or whatever (30-team control) but next thing I know he’s on waivers again, like the next day.

Why would the AI behave this way?

To be clear I would love to have Dustin May, and indeed I signed him off waivers. But it immediately felt like pure cheese so I was like hold up what’s going on here?

    Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Not sure i have not seen it in any of my 30 team control. But you could give him back that is the best thing about using 30 team you can undo the crazy stuff the CPU does.

Seattle drops game 4 to Detroit 5-4. SP Emerson Hancock got a no decision in his major league debut giving up 4 runs. The Mariners played from behind for a majority of the game and just couldn’t pull out the victory. Next up for the Mariners are Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels for a quick 2 game visit to T-Mobile Park.

Right on I get that part, just seems incredibly bizarre, they’re not coded to keep healthy, 80+ rated guys on the 40-man? And just those two guys? Ok oh well. 👊🏼

Texas Rangers Franchise (Games 1-4, Season 1)

Opening day weekend and the Rangers welcomed in the New York Yankees for a four-game series. It was a wild one as expected.

The Rangers would take 3 of 4 from the Yankees but none of the games were easy and it was a wild series

Game 1- Rangers 10, Yankees 9 (Rangers get a bases clearing triple last in the game and hang on for the win.)

Game 2- Rangers 7, Yankees 6 (Andy Ibanez a late inning defensive replacement gets the game winning walk off hit in the 10th after the Rangers bullpen blew a 3-run lead in the 9th)

Game 3- Yankees 12, Rangers 4 (Yankees hit 7 homeruns, 2 by Judge and Rizzo. Montgomery shuts down the Rangers bats for the win)

Game 4- Rangers 9, Yankees 6 (two homeruns and 7 rbis from Masataka Toshida and the Rangers win the series)

The story of the series was offense, offense, and yes more offense, neither team had good pitching the entire series. The Rangers four starters Gray, Dunning, Heran, and Howard all got hit hard. All four of the starters have an ERA over 7.50 after one start each. The Yankees did not do much better with Cole, Severino, and Tallion all getting roughed up as well. Only decent start in the series came from Yankees Jordan Montgomery who held the Rangers to 2 earned runs over 6 innings.

At the plate both teams hit well. The Rangers had a two homerun game from Masataka Toshida, Corey Seager and Marcus Semien also hit 2 home runs in the series and Mitch Garver had 8 rbis in the series at the plate.

The Yankees either are the greatest homerun team in the league, or my pitching is that bad, or it is a mix of both. The Yankees hit 17 homeruns in the series. Yes 17 that is not a misprint believe me every pitching I threw left the yard. Judge and Donaldson had 3 each and Rizzo had 4.

            Around the League

Twins' catcher Gary Sanchez torn his Achillies and he is out for the season.

The Orioles and the Tigers, I repeat the Orioles and the Tigers are both undefeated 3-0 and 4-0.

            Next Stop

The Rangers (3-1) now will travel to Miami (2-2) for a series with the Marlins.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Unfortunately we lost to the Brew Crew in 6 games to end our amazing run. Brewers eventually won the WS over the Yankees.

Now we head to the off-season with some decisions to make, specifically with the pitching staff.

First lets look at our free agents and how much money is coming off our books.

              FA

OF Wil Myers - $13.8 Million
SP Sean Manaea - $9.7 million
SP Joe Musgrove - $8.6 Million
              CP Taylor Rogers $7.3 Million
SP Mike Clevinger - $5.3 Million
              P Dinelson Lamet - $4.7 million
              OF/INF Whit Merrifield - $4 million
RP Craig Stammen - $4 million
              C Jorge Alfaro - $2.7 million
OF Nomar Mazara - $1.7 Million
RP Tim Hill - $1.3 million

That is $63.5 million coming off of our books.

We have Luke Voit and Austin Adams up for arbitration.

My decisions are centered around my SP. Yu Darvish (17-5 with a 3.09) ERA is in his final year of his contract and making $19.4 million for the year. Due to his age, he is now down to only a 74 overall and will keep declining. Blake Snell is also in a contract year and making $10.7 million. He was also very solid last year and younger and cheaper than Darvish. We have the young phenom MacKenzie Gore who i want to use this year and I want to bring back all 3 of our FA pitchers. Question is who to deal between Yu and Blake if i bring all 3 back. Joe Musgrove is the #1 priority for our FA.

              UPDATE:

Well a bidding war broke out on Musgrove and Clevinger so i couldn't bring mack Manaea who ended up going to the Dodgers. Was able to re-sign both guys above but for much more than i wanted to. Joe Musgrove signed a 5 year $81.5 mil extension while Mike Clevinger signed a 3 year $50 mil extension. We also brought back CP Taylor Rogers on a 3 year $35.1 mil deal and brought in Mitch Haniger on a 1 year $6.5 mil deal. Luke Voit setted for a 1 year $7 mil deal to avoid arbitration. Austin Adams settled for arb at $930 K and Dinelson Lamet is coming back on a $4.7 mil arb deal as well.

Anticipated year 2 line up and starting staff

              LF CJ Abrams
              3B Manny Machado
              SS Fernando Tatis Jr
              DH Luke Voit
              RF Mitch Hanniger
              2B Jake Cronenworth
              C Luis Campusano
              1B Eric Hosmer
              CF Trent Grisham

              SP Joe Musgrove
              SP Blake Snell
              SP Mike Clevinger
              SP MacKenzie Gore
              SP Yu Darvish

In a wild around the league trade. The Yankees traded SP Deivi Garcia, OF Jasson Dominguez and 1B Anthony Rizzo to the Astros for Lance McCullers lol

If front of a sparse crowd of 21,817 fans the Seattle Mariners win in walk off fashion in the bottom of the 10th thanks to J.P. Crawford.
Jared Kelenic started on 2nd base to lead off the frame with Dylan Morris leading off. Morris struck out swinging on a nasty slider but during the at bat was able to advance from 2nd to 3rd on a wild pitch. Crawford sent a deep fly ball to the warning track in his at bat allowing Kelenic to score.
Next up the Mariners face Shohei Ohtani who had 15K’s in the Angels season opener.

Cardinals sweep Yankees over the weekend

The Cardinals (64-49) swept the Yankees in a 3 game series over the weekend extending the Yankees losing streak to 13 games. The Cardinals maintain their 1 game lead over the Brewers.

Jack Flaherty recorded his 11th win of the year in this series and Paul Goldschmidt is now one homerun away from the 300 club.

Next is a day off on Monday as the Cardinals travel to Colorado for a 3 game series with the Rockies before flying back home for a pivotal 3 game weekend series with the Brewers.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Kyle Lewis shows why he was a former Rookie Of The Year recipient by taking Ohtani deep (414ft to CF) in his first at bat since being called up to take the place of injured Jesse Winker. 3 hits total between the Angels and Mariners. This game was a pitchers duel from the beginning and lived up to the hype. The Mariners took the mini 2 game series 2-0

Tigers Split 4 Gamer with Guardians

The Tigers played a four game series home versus Cleveland and could only manage bookend wins as the middle two games both barely eluded them.

In Game 1, Cleveland jumped on Spencer Turnbull, as he gave up 6 runs in 4 innings, but the Tigers would claw their way back with three unanswered runs late, to pull off the 7-6 victory.

Game 2, was a back and forth affair, headlined by the Back-Back-BACK Homeruns by the 2-3-4 hitters in the Detroit Lineup, Baddoo, Candelario, and Baez. That would be in the third however, and late, despite scoring 3 in the last three innings to send it to extra's, they wouldn't be able to finish it out.

Game 3 the Tigers offense just couldn't muster anything against Civale who dominated through 6.2 of 2 hit no run ball. Despite Mize matching and going 7 with 3 hit, and one run, the Tigers fell 3-1/

Game 4 the Tigers struck back, with the exclamation being Greene's first career homer, a solo shot that helped put the game out of reach. Skubal also played well, as he limited the Guardians to just 2 runs through 5.2. They would win 5-2.

The Tigers, with just a one game lead over CWS, now welcome Minnesota to Comerica Park for a 4 game mid week series that will also see the end of the month pass by as well.

So I finally gave in and bought 22 and decided to scrap my 20 franchise. I’m going to carry over one of my prospects from the 20 franchise since they didn’t include both Mets first round picks in the upcoming draft, edit deGrom’s contract to make him a free agent after this year to act as if he’s opting out and then I’ll sim to todays date since I play at such a slow pace. The last thing I need to do before I get started is decide if I want the free runner for extra innings. I hate the rule but at the same time I like the added strategy. I wish they’d let you decide before every season whether you want that rule and the universal DH instead of locking you in for the duration of your franchise.

Season 2, Game 1 of spring training vs the Mariners and they were loaded lol. Faced off against Aaron Nola. They also had Tre Turner, Brian Reynolds, Ji man Choi and Aaron Judge. I’ll have to see their entire roster when I turn my game on next.

☆☆Mariners narrowly avoid the rare 4 game sweep by taking game four at home vs the Rays. Newly recalled veteran Steven Souza Jr was the hero to give us the only win of the series.☆☆

*Souza with a full count, 2 out, 3 run HR bottom 8th in scoreless game. A throwing error on strikeout previous AB cost the Rays dearly as all three runs were unearned.

☆☆Mariners look to gain momentum back after a tough series vs Tampa. Certainly been nothing but a .500 ball club this year at best. The team really needs to string together some wins somehow. Unfortunately the next four series are vs the Phillies, Mets, Blue Jays, and Red Sox. If we can at least win three of those series I would gladly take it.☆☆
