Angels win their 6th straight game. Angels trailed 4-2 in the 9th but with two on with two out and a 3-2 count Kurt Suzuki hit a go head 3 run home run. The Rangers would tie the game in the bottom half on a few singles and an error. In the 10th Walsh continues to come up big and hit a two run home run his 7th of the year and the Angels win 7-5 in extras. Syndergaard will be on the mound as the Angels go for the 4 game sweep.

Mariners sweep Tigers to kick off 2022 campaign
The Seattle Mariners bats were hot to kick off the new season with a four game thrashing of the Detroit Tigers pitching staff with 7-3, 10-0, 10-0, and 8-4 wins over their AL central foe. Rumors swirled as the season opened that Kyle Lewis was being shopped around the league possibly in exchange for a young, controllable pitcher. Those rumors began to quell after the Mariners nabbed Roki Sasaki and Masaki Oyokawa from Japan as the pair presents the Mariners with two more talented controllable pitchers who should be MLB ready relatively soon. Sasaki will start the year in triple a along with top pitching prospect George Kirby while Oyokawa joins Emerson Hancock on the Northwest Arkansas Travelers AA rotation. However, Lewis put a nail in the coffin of those rumors at least for the time being as he served as the DH for the opening series and teed off on Tigers pitching. He paces the strong M's lineup hitting 10/16 with 3 HR/10 RBIs to go along with the offseason acquisition duo of Eugenio Suarez and Jesse Winker whom both launched two homers in the opening series. On the pitching side, the Mariners look great as well with dominant performances from Logan Gilbert and Robbie Ray. However, the best performance came from Marco Gonzales who took a perfect game bid into the 9th and it was broken up with 1 out on a Spencer Torkelson single to center.
Around the league, the former Mariner James Paxton made his Redsox debut in the opening weekend and thew a no-hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays in a 1-0 win that featured only two hits.[/INDENT]Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
After the February 27th matchup vs the Chicago Cubs, reporters were able to speak with Mariners skipper Scott Servais about the direction of the team for the 2022 campaign and looming roster decisions. Will Kyle Lewis regain his Rookie Of The Year form after a devastating knee injury sidelined him? What are the expectations of young pitchers Matt Brash and George Kirby during camp? Will Emerson Hancock get a look? Servais replied “We’ll have to wait and see. Should be an exciting camp.”

Awesome job! Congrats on the perfect game. Takes me back a few years ago when I pitched a No Hitter with Marcus Stroman with my Jays. It was the first and only one I’ve ever done it and I have played this series my whole life!
Came close one time with JA Happ but was ended in the 9th.

Cardinals place Tyler O'Neill on 10 Day IL, recall Juan Yepez
The Cardinals have placed OF Tyler O'Neill on the 10 day IL due to a shoulder injury suffered Tuesday night in a game against the Rockies. O'Neill was tracking down a ball off the bat of Elias Diaz and dove to make the catch, but couldn't haul it in and also suffered the injury. He's expected to be out 2 weeks.
To take his spot, the Cardinals recalled 1B/3B/COF Juan Yepez from Memphis. The 23 year old is hitting .345 with 3 homeruns and 12 RBI's in a limited stint with the Redbirds as he started the year in Springfield (AA) and has been injured. It came as somewhat of a surprise the Cards didn't recall Lars Nootbar, but Lars struggled lately in St.Louis and his bat isn't coming around in Memphis either. So the organization decided to leave him there and recall Yepez who provides a new look and a right handed power bat off the bench.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Angels bars go cold and the win streak is over after a 3-1 loss in 10 innings to the Astros. The Angels managed only one hit a solo home run from Rendon. Angels struck out a season high 16 times. Ohtani took a no hitter into the 7th but Alex Bregman said not today and tied the game with a moonshot. In the 10th on the first pitch Kyle Tucker hit a walk off home run.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
2022 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/10-06/12
Overall Record:43-24 (1st NL West 4.5 over Dodgers)
Arizona takes two of three from Philly
The Arizona/Philadelphia series was a hard fought 2-1 victory for Arizona. Game one was won a walk off double by Bryce Harper, 4-3 in favor of the Phillies.
Harper and the rest of that powerful middle of the Philadelphia line up gave Arizona's pitchers fits throughout the series. Harper had three extra base hits in the series including the walkoff and a homerun in game two. Rhys Hoskins was on fire with five extra base hits that included four home runs, three of which were in game two. Lastly, Nick Castellanos chipped in as well with a homer in game one and a double in game two.
With all that production for Philadelphia in game two, it could be hard to imagine Arizona being able to pull it out but they did with an equally impressive offensive showing. In game that saw 28 total hits (14 for each team) David Peralta had two doubles and Jordan Luplow, Buddy Kennedy and Nick Ahmed each had one of their own. Along with the doubles, Carson Kelly had two homeruns and Seth Beer added one as well to assist in the 8-7 victory for the Diamondbacks.
Game three was a close game that ended in Madison Bumgarner's MLB leading fourth complete game shutout of the season. Arizona took the victory behind Bumgarner's performance and a two run HR by Daulton Varsho in the fifth inning.
Arizona will return home for another series against the Reds (31-35) who they swept a week ago in Cincy.
**
Couple of things...does anyone else get what seems like a lot of batters HBP? We have 45 while the next team I switched to (Colorado) has 21 and the Dodgers have 8
Secondly, I dont know why but the CPU seems to swing at everything Bumgarner throws...doesnt happen that way with all my pitchers but he finished that complete game throwing just 71 pitchesLast edited by Itsma806; 05-13-2022, 09:28 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Very unusual that I’ve had a franchise going for a while and haven’t posted in here yet, but here I am.
Yankees Franchise, May 7th Update:
After struggling through the first half of April, and then catching fire later in the month, the Yankees sit at 21-12. Tampa Bay flew out of the gates with a hot start, at one point holding a 4 game lead in the division. They’ve since cooled down as we got hot, allowing us to take a tiny half game lead in the division for the first this season.
Top Performers:
Giancarlo Stanton 254 AVG, 356 OBP, 675 SLG, with an MLB leading 17 HR’s.
Josh Donaldson 286 AVG, 346 OBP, 630 SLG, with 12 HR’s.
Gleyber Torres 277 AVG 368 OBP, 564 SLG, 932 OPS.
Gerrit Cole 1.79 ERA, 0.75 WHIP.
Lucas Luetge 1.88 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, 14.1 IP.
Miguel Castro 0.00 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 13.2 IP.
BREAKING: On May 2nd, Yankees Trade OF Joey Gallo, SP Jordan Montgomery To Padres For SP Blake Snell, Prospects.
The Yankees and Padres teamed up to make some unusual early season noise on the trade market as the Yankees sent slugger Joey Gallo and pitcher Jordan Montgomery to San Diego in exchange for SP Blake Snell, and SP prospects Mackenzie Gore and Ryan Weathers. Rumors leaked that New York and San Diego had discussed Gallo during the spring, and the two sides circled back now.
For the Padres, they land the stud corner OF they needed. Elite defense, with big lefty power. In San Diego, Gallo shifts back to his usual spot in RF full time. Gallo hadn’t quite lived up to expectations since coming over at last years trade deadline, and after just over a month in 2022, the Yankees had seen enough of his sub 200 AVG, and would not have been resigning him in the offseason. The Padres also land a struggling Jordan Montgomery, swapping out Blake Snell in a change of scenery move. Both 29 year old LH SP’s, under contract for one more year beyond 2022.
For the Yankees, on the MLB side of things, they acquire Blake Snell. Snell has been hit hard so far this year, worse than Montgomery, pitching to a 6.37 ERA. Snell has fallen off since his solid but short 2020 COVID season. His ERA and WHIP spiked to 4.20 and 1.32 last season, and it’s gotten worse. The Yankees and pitching coach Matt Blake must see something they think they can fix.
On the Minors side, the Yankees get two solid starting pitching prospects. Mackenzie Gore and Ryan Weathers. Weathers broke into the majors last season and was given a rough welcome, sporting a 5.32 ERA over 94 IP, and has been battered again in the majors early this season. Hopefully with more seasoning at AAA, he can finish developing.
Gore, the headlining piece of the Padres 3 player package, is a 23 year old left handed starter who is regarded very highly. Unlike Snell and Weathers, Gore isn’t struggling in the slightest, pitching to a 2.59 ERA so far this season at the AAA level. He could make his MLB debut later this season, but the Yankees won’t rush him, looking to avoid a Ryan Weathers situation.
News:
May 6th: Yankees Sign OF Brett Gardner, 1 Year 2M.
With Gallo out, the signing everyone had been expecting all spring has finally come, much later then expected. Gardner reportedly received interest from the rival Blue Jays, but turned them away. Now, he reunites with the only team he’s ever known, almost guaranteeing his status as a career Yankee and going out on his own terms.
May 2nd through May 4th: Yankees Sweep Wounded Blue Jays
With Vlad JR down for 1-2 months with a fractured arm, and Gurriel Jr missing the series with a sprain, the Yankees took full advantage.
Up Next:
The Yankees continue their 3 game set at home against the 11-21 Texas Rangers. Blake Snell makes his Yankee Debut, facing off against top prospect Jack Leiter in his MLB Debut.Comment
