Cardinals drop series to Rockies in Colorado

The Cardinals (65-51) dropped 2 games of a 3 game series with the Rockies in Colorado. The Cardinals did extend their lead over the Brewers to 1.5 games after winning Thursday.

The Cardinals were beaten single handedly by Randal Grichuk in the series opener on Tuesday as he hit 3 homeruns with 6 RBI's, in a 8-2 loss.

On Wednesday it looked as though the Cardinals were going to get a victory to set up a rubber match leading 6-1 in the 8th, but the Rockies exploded for 8 runs in route to a 9-6 victory.

Thursday the Cards had ace Jack Flaherty on the mound as he would record his 12th win of the season pitching 7.1 innings with 12 strikeouts and only 3 hits. Nolan Arenado provided the only offense needed in a 3-0 win with a 3 run blast in the 6th.

The Cardinals will travel home for a big 3 game series with the Brewers.

A Trip Around the Bases of the League

1st) The Yankees have lost 16 straight games

2nd) Trea Turner leads the majors with 38 stolen bases

3rd) Tyler Rogers leads the majors with 41 saves

4th) Mike Trout hit for the cycle in back to back games
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

        Current Injuries:
Luis Renfigo, IF (Shin, Day to Day)
Matt Duffy, 2B (Finger, 10 Day IL)
Jo Adell, OF (Finger, 10 Day IL)

        Halo Notes
        • Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani are back to being dominant sluggers. Trout is slashing .340/.444/.660 with 14 doubles and 11 home runs. Ohtani isn't doing to badly either. Ohtani's slash line reads .292/.343/.700 with 12 doubles and 13 home runs.
        • Second year outfielder Brandon Marsh continues to impress. He's hit the ball well .248/.390/.416, played plus defense and stolen 5 bases.
        • Michael Lorenzen has struggled some in returning to the rotation. In 7 starts he's 2-5 with an ERA of 4.83 and a WHIP of 1.44. There are whispers young pitching prospects Griffin Canning or Chris Rodriguez could be called up to take Lorenzen's spot in the rotation. Both Canning and Rodriguez are coming off major injuries in 2020, and have started the season in AAA Salt Lake. Canning is 3-1 with an ERA of 2.75 on the farm, while Rodriguez is off to a 2-1 3.64 start in SLC.

              The Devils make a move

The Devils have acquired Christian Arroyo from the Red Sox for SP Tanner Roark, UTIL Peter Maris and a player to be named later. Arroyo was having a tough year for the sox hitting below .200 and the Devils need to get younger.

The Devils also made another move swapping pitchers with the Padres acquiring Dinelson Lamet and trading away Chase Anderson. Both pitchers have not been good this season and maybe a change of scenery might turn that around.

Expect more moves to happen in the coming months as the Devils are trying to build for the future.

              Hitting Studs:

Joe Panik has returned to form batting .289 at the top of the order. While Taylor Motter has stayed consistent with a .270 average and 11 Home runs.

              Hitting Duds:

Anderson Tejeda still hasn’t really gotten anything going yet hitting at .222 might have to make a move there soon. Jeff Mathis is hitting a cool .135.

              Pitching Studs:

No one in the rotation has been great thus far while the pen at the back end has been superb. Butcher, Brennan, and Marshall all have Era’s under 2.50.

              Pitching Duds:

The rotation has been rough with everyone over a 4.50 Era. Might be looking for some trades soon. Jesse Hahn has struggled with a 7.58 ERA probably will DFA soon if he doesn't turn it around.

              Transactions: 5/4 start

Ronnie Freeman went on the 60 day with a Torn Finger Ligament. Signed a game generated catcher Nate Nolan. Claimed Tanner Rainey off waivers from the Nats. Adam Eaton was placed on the 60 day with a Broken shin. Designated Hunter Wood for assignment and promoted Richie Martin. Claimed Justin Bruhl from the dodgers. Jake Arrieta went on the 60 day with a Fractured Wrist. The devil's signed Julio Teheran to a 1yr deal. Claimed Trent Thornton off waivers from the Blue Jays.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Devil’s finish up the month of June at a record of 36-47 12 GB of the division leading Mariners. The month started terribly but the Devil's finished strong winning 4 out of the last 5. There were a lot of moving parts this month and going into July the Devil’s will be trying to build for the future.

MLB Draft 2022: had the 17th pick

1: SS Eugene Keller 73 Overall 79 Potential he’s MLB ready will definitely get a shot in the spring.

2: SP Lane Sabel 72 Overall 91 Potential definitely my best pick, another potential guy to break camp next year.

3: SP William Sanguillen 66 Overall 74 Potential has a 3 pitch repertoire sitting at close to 100.

4: CP David Rodriguez 64 Overall 77 Potential has high hits per nine and KS lefty as well

5: SP Peter Cummings 63 Overall 83 Potential sold numbers overall looking forward to developing this guy

6: CF Damon Hamill 57 Overall 89 Potential my project player will probably be a corner outfielder

7: RP Jimmy Miller 57 Overall 86 Potential another project player

                  Hitting Studs:

Joe Panik continued his hot hitting leading the team in average at .286 while Motter still leads the team with 14 home runs. Christian Arroyo has been a big acquisition getting his average up to .255

                  Hitting Duds:

Jose Lobaton and Jared Hoying are starting to fall off will be looking to upgrade at those positions.

                  Pitching Studs:

Rotation has still been a struggle hopefully the acquisition of Reynaldo Lopez will payoff. Otherwise the back of the pen has still been awesome with Brennan posting a 1.50 ERA and Marshall with 20 SV.

                  Pitching Duds:

The rotation has an ERA over 5 which is a big issue and will be addressed at the deadline. I’ll also be looking to add another arm to the pen.

                  Transactions:

Claimed Sebastian Rivero from the Royals and released Nate Nolan. Optioned Anderson Tejeda to Triple A and recalled Anthony Swarzak. Claimed Guillermo Heredia from the Braves. Optioned Nick Williams to Triple A. Activated Kevin Quakenbush from the IL. Designated Jesse Hahn for assignment and released him. Recalled Taylor Davis demoted Julio Teheran. Recalled Josh Tomlin and sent down Sal Romano. Signed Stevie Wilkerson to a 1yr deal.

                  Trades:

Acquired Christian Arroyo from the Red Sox for Tanner Roark and Peter Maris. Acquired Dinelson Lamet from the Padres for Chase Anderson. Acquired Kyle Stowers from the Orioles for Edgar Santana and Ronnie Freeman. Acquired Reynaldo Lopez from the White Sox for Scott Kazmir and Danny Woodrow.

                  Injuries:

Jeff Mathis on the 60 day with a Broken shin, Jacob Wilson on the 10 day with a Pulled Calf

                  Notes:

                  Trade deadline next month

Taking a break from my Cubs franchise. Started one with each the Angels and Blue Jays to see which team I prefer. I played 6 games with the Angels 3-3 with them. Ohtani is 1-20. Walsh hitting .360 6RBI.

And have only played one with the Blue Jays and won 8-3 on opening day. Chapman was 3-4 with a home run in his first at bat and two RBI doubles. Vlad also homered.

Not yet decided which one I will main.

                            2022 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/06-06/09

                            Overall Record:41-23 (1st NL West)

D-Backs extend winning streak to seven in sweep of Reds.

The hardest part of Arizona's four game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds may have been who to pick as the player of the game in the fourth game of the series. Should it be Josh Rojas who went 5 for 6 with a HR, two doubles and five RBIs? Or should it be Buddy Kennedy, the rookie who came up to bat twice with the bases loaded resulting in his first career grand slam and a two RBI single? Or maybe even Nick Ahmed who hit two second deck home runs.

Josh Rojas ended up getting the official player of the game honors which makes sense...five hits in any game is quite an accomplishment...especially as he was 0-9 in the series going into game four. The game ended in a football like score (for Arizona atleast) 18-2.

Games one and three were close battles (3-2 and 6-5) while game two was another high scoring affair for Arizona in the 9-2 victory.

After a rough end to May, Arizona is currently 7-1 to start the month of June. They will look to continue their winning ways in a three game series in Philadelphia against the Phillies (29-34, 3rd NL East)

I am having a lot of fun. The crazy thing is I'm playing on Legend difficulty, both hitting and pitching. Games are very competitive, I just seem to be getting all the breaks thus far. I'm sure it will come back my way though.

Schedule has been ridiculously easy too. Been beating up on bad teams.
