Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just fired up Franchise for the first time using my own modified version of RidinRoster's Full Minors and I feel like pulling my hair out because whether I start a Franchise on Opening Day or in Spring Training and then simming to Opening Day the damn CPU adjusts every roster (calling up and sending down players based on their Overall rating), lineup, and pitching rotation. This is hideous. Is there any way to prevent this without selecting control of all 30 teams when beginning a new Franchise? This seriously will make me stop playing this year's game and go back to playing RTTS in last year's game and that really bums me out. What happened to Franchise?

Edit: Actually now that I think about it controlling every team like I thought wouldn't fix this because it adjusts my own team's roster, lineups , and pitching rotation anyways.

        Playing as The Braves

Lost the series to the Dodgers.

First game was a win. Riley hit home run number 5 to lead the team now in home runs. Final score, 4-2
Lost games 2 and 3 both with the same score of 2-1.
Only thing really notable is in game 2, Dickerson hit his first home run of the season. Game 3 was a slog. The Dodgers pitching lineup was so good but at least we weren't blown out. Record now 12-8. We're still first in the NL East though the Phillies are right there behind us.
Next series is against the Marlins who are last in the NL East with a record of 5-14.
        NCAA: Kentucky Wildcats
        MLB: Atlanta Braves
        NBA: San Antonio Spurs

Just started a mariners chise with Ridin's full minors roster, really liking the shape of the roster. Going to make some smaller trades shuffling around some of the minor league depth pieces. With 30 team control on, its a breeze to fix rosters. Plenty of International free agents in the roster so tried to move them around to fitting teams and based it on who has tendencies to sign Japanese players the most, with the Mariners at the forefront for a big part along with other west coast teams. Tetsuto Yamada is in this roster but since he recently signed a long-term deal to stay overseas, I will not touch him.

          International Signings
SP Roki Sasaki (20, 70 ovr, A Pot) to Mariners
          1B Baek-Ho Kang (22, 67, B Pot) to Mariners
          3B Munetaka Murakami (22, 66, B Pot) to Mariners
SP Masaki Oyokawa (21, 65, B Pot) to Mariners

CP Yasuaki Yamaski (29, 69, B Pot) to Red Sox

SP Koudai Senga (29, 75, B Pot) to Rangers
          RF Ja-Wook Koo (29, 68, B Pot) to Rangers

LF Masataka Yoshida (29, 75, B Pot) to Padres

          LF Jung-Ho Lee (23, 69, B Pot) to Giants

SP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (23, 65, B Pot) to Cubs

This is not a bug, or glitch. It is working properly.

What is happening, is that when you start your franchise (whether you start in Spring Training or Regular season) Spring training happens. In Spring Training, every player on your 40 man roster is considered on the "ACTIVE" roster.

When you advance to the regular season (or start at the Regular season) teams must get down to just 26 players on the "ACTIVE" roster. The CPU is simply doing this. Sending down players on the 40 man roster to get down to the 26 man active roster.

The ONLY way to stop this from happening, is to do 30 team control, and trim the "ACTIVE" roster to 26 for each team BEFORE advancing to the regular season.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

One thing I wanted to focus on this year was to take the foot off the pedal on DD, and try to get a Pirates Franchise up and running. It's been a good 5ish years since I did one, and I had a lot of fun with the last one, even though I never got past September in Year 2. I was running away with the Central and had my eyes on World Series Glory. Never finished it.

Oh well, I'm committing to this one. Plus, it gives me something to keep up on during my vacations this year with my Switch.

Focusing more on developing at the ML Level than manipulating service time, Contreras and Cruz are going to be on the Opening Day Roster. I also made a few edits to Ridin's Roster (mainly just making D guys mid C's, and dropping a few players to C potential that I felt were overrated). That said, here's what we're rolling with on Opening Day:

                Lineup:

                1. Oneil Cruz - SS
                2. Ke'Bryan Hayes - 3B
                3. Bryan Reynolds - CF
                4. Dan Vogelbach - DH
                5. Michael Chavis - 2B
                6. Yoshi Tsutsugo - 1B
                7. Jake Marisnick - LF
                8. Roberto Perez - C
                9. Ben Gamel - RF

                Bench:
                Jack Suwinski - OF
                Josh VanMeter - INF
                Diego Castillo - INF
                Andrew Knapp - C
                Kevin Newman - INF

                Rotation:
                1. JT Brubaker
                2. Mitch Keller
                3. Zach Thompson
                4. Jose Quintana
                5. Roansy Contreras

                'Pen:
                LRP: Dillon Peters
                MRP: Anthony Banda
                MRP: Heath Hembree
                MRP: Aaron Fletcher
                SU: Chris Stratton
                SU: Wil Crowe
                CP: David Bednar

Hoping to play a few full games each month, a handful of quick pitch games, and sprinkle in some player control games for the first two years or so. Really Targeting 2024 as the first main year of contention, right now I'm just focusing on developing a core for that window.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Devil’s finish up the month of July sitting at 43-64 15 GB of the division leading Mariners. The team was up and down the whole month playing well and then falling off at the end. The Devil’s made a ton of moves for the future this month hopefully they will payoff.

                  Hitting Studs:

Taylor Motter stayed consistent through the month with Ryan Mcbroom heating up after he got the Starting Left field job. Luis Gonzalez has been sneaky good with 13 home runs.

                  Hitting Duds:

Mitch Moreland and Christian Arroyo both fell off a bit and the bench didn't do much.

                  Pitching Studs:

Again the rotation was not great this month hopefully the acquisitions of Archer and German will fix that. The pen continues to be solid and adding Bradley, Scott, and Betances to the mix will definitely help.

                  Pitching Duds:

                  Starting rotation

                  Transactions:

Placed Julio Teheran on waivers, put Mike Fiers on waivers and Josh Tomlin. Recalled Ben Bracewell from Triple A. Activated Jacob Wilson and Adam Eaton off the injured list. Optioned Stevie Wilkerson and Richie Martin. Claimed Brendan Donovan off waivers from the Cardinals. Claimed Ryan Hendrix off waivers from the Reds. Placed Tanner Rainey on waivers. Claimed Miguel Vargas off waivers from Dodgers. Claimed Miguel Castro and Estevan Florial from the Yankees. Placed Anthony Swarzak on waivers. Recalled Stevie Wilkerson.

                  Trades:

Sent Julio Teheran to the Twins for Chris Archer. Acquired Michael Busch and Dellin Betances from the Dodgers for Anderson Tejeda, Evan Marshall, and Reynaldo Lopez. Acquired Domingo German from the Yankees for Kohl Stewart, Jake Arrieta, and Nick Williams. Acquired Archie Bradley from the Angels for Khris Davis. Acquired Tanner Scott from the Marlins for Tom Eshelman. Acquired Jorge Alfaro from the Padres for Jose Lobaton and Joe Panik.

                  Injuries:

                  Notes:

Taylor Motter and Evan Marshall were our All Stars

Adam Eaton got his 1000 hit.

Signed Taylor Motter, Ryan Mcbroom, and Brandon Brennan all to 2yr deals with options.

Signed Jorge Alfaro to a 3yr deal for 17m

I’ll be combining August and September together in the next update.

There were a lot of moving parts this month and going into July the Devil’s will be trying to build for the future.

MLB Draft 2022: had the 17th pick

1: SS Eugene Keller 73 Overall 79 Potential he’s MLB ready will definitely get a shot in the spring.

2: SP Lane Sabel 72 Overall 91 Potential definitely my best pick, another potential guy to break camp next year.

3: SP William Sanguillen 66 Overall 74 Potential has a 3 pitch repertoire sitting at close to 100.

4: CP David Rodriguez 64 Overall 77 Potential has high hits per nine and KS lefty as well

5: SP Peter Cummings 63 Overall 83 Potential sold numbers overall looking forward to developing this guy

6: CF Damon Hamill 57 Overall 89 Potential my project player will probably be a corner outfielder

7: RP Jimmy Miller 57 Overall 86 Potential another project player

                  Hitting Studs:

Joe Panik continued his hot hitting leading the team in average at .286 while Motter still leads the team with 14 home runs. Christian Arroyo has been a big acquisition getting his average up to .255

                  Hitting Duds:

Jose Lobaton and Jared Hoying are starting to fall off will be looking to upgrade at those positions.

                  Pitching Studs:

Rotation has still been a struggle hopefully the acquisition of Reynaldo Lopez will payoff. Otherwise the back of the pen has still been awesome with Brennan posting a 1.50 ERA and Marshall with 20 SV.

                  Pitching Duds:

The rotation has an ERA over 5 which is a big issue and will be addressed at the deadline. I’ll also be looking to add another arm to the pen.

                  Transactions:

Claimed Sebastian Rivero from the Royals and released Nate Nolan. Optioned Anderson Tejeda to Triple A and recalled Anthony Swarzak. Claimed Guillermo Heredia from the Braves. Optioned Nick Williams to Triple A. Activated Kevin Quakenbush from the IL. Designated Jesse Hahn for assignment and released him. Recalled Taylor Davis demoted Julio Teheran. Recalled Josh Tomlin and sent down Sal Romano. Signed Stevie Wilkerson to a 1yr deal.

                  Trades:

Acquired Christian Arroyo from the Red Sox for Tanner Roark and Peter Maris. Acquired Dinelson Lamet from the Padres for Chase Anderson. Acquired Kyle Stowers from the Orioles for Edgar Santana and Ronnie Freeman. Acquired Reynaldo Lopez from the White Sox for Scott Kazmir and Danny Woodrow.

                  Injuries:

Jeff Mathis on the 60 day with a Broken shin, Jacob Wilson on the 10 day with a Pulled Calf

                  Notes:

                  Trade deadline next month

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Think I will stick with the Angels franchise. 9-5 record 5 game winning streak. After starting the season 1-20 Ohtani is up to .262 3 homers and 6 doubles. Trout hitting just .230 but 5 homers 9RBI. And Jared Walsh hitting .404 6 homers 15RBI.

Pitching has been solid Ohtani 2-0 with a 0.95 era. Sandoval and Lorenzen have struggled to give me 5 innings thank god my bullpen has been good.

                    Tied with Astros for first.

Forgot to add: I signed Alex Dickerson in 5 games he hit 3 home runs and 9 rbi but got injured sliding into second on a wild pitch and will miss 2-3 months. I went and signed Jung-Hoo Lee and I’m the one game I played he had 3 hits and an RBI.

Cardinals take key series against Brewers in St.Louis

The Cardinals (67-52) took 2 games of a pivotal 3 game series with the Brewers in St.Louis over the weekend. The Cardinals now lead the Brewers by 2.5 games in the NL Central Division.

The Cardinals won the series opener Friday night coming back after Adam Wainwright struggled only going 4 innings. The Cardinals offense and bullpen would pick him up in route to a 7-5 victory.

Saturday watched T.J. Zeuch get lit up for the 2nd straight start and leave after just 5 innings. Again the bullpen would fight to keep the Cards in the game, but the Brewers would win 8-3 as the offense just couldn't get a key hit.

Sunday saw Miles Mikolas give the Cardinals a start very much needed going 7.1 innings before being lifted.

The Cardinals are off on Monday as they welcome the Rockies to town for a 3 game series.

Jack Flaherty throws perfect game against the Rockies

                              Jack Flaherty was perfect!

Flaherty faced 27 batters and sat down 27 batters. Jack Flaherty needed 103 pitches to get thru the Rockies order 3 times in route to a perfect game. Flaherty struck out 8 and even recorded a hit and RBI in the game. Have a night Jack Flaherty!
