Thanks man. I find posting this stuff also keeps me more involved in my franchise, plus it's just fun.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Played every game so far with the Angels and currently 47-30 1 game back of the Astros. I’m like 5-15 my last 20 games, can’t hit and been getting roughed up on the mound a bit more than usual. I recently tinkered sliders and getting shelled because pitching was getting too easy. I use classic with no ball marker. Moved cpu contact/power/solid hits all to 6.

      Ohtani- .284 25 Hrs 40 RBI
      Trout- .337 28 Hrs 49 RBI
      Walsh- .250 7 Hrs 28 RBI
      Rendon- .294 13 HRs 41 RBI
      Ward- .267 3 Hrs 25 RBI
      Marsh- .329 0 Hrs 22 RBI
      Stassi- .225 8 Hrs 23 RBI
      Duffy- .212 0 Hrs 15 RBI
      Fletcher- .297 2 HRs 17 RBI

      Ohtani- 2.67 era
      Syndergaard- 2.98 era
      Sandoval- 3.45 era
      Lorenzen- 2.45 era
      Suarez- 4.35 era
      Barria- 3.99 era

Back three of bullpen have been lights out. Detmers had and era over 8 after 6 starts so I sent him down.

Now debating trading Adell and a prospect for Boegarts. I like to keep it realistic but every year we see crazy trades in real life so I may pull the trigger on this around end of July. I haven’t got anything out if second base this year. Thoughts?

I don't know what it is, but I rake with Stassi. I'm in mid June and he's got like 14 bombs for me.

Mariners offense got a boost today behind 3 solo home runs giving them a 3-1 victory in front of a very small Spring Training crowd of around 6,000. Walton, an unlikely power source got the scoring started. Flexen was solid in his debut. Next up the Mariners have an away contest vs the LA Dodgers.

The poor pitching was the story all year. The one bright spot was the offense and some pieces in the pen. Will definitely be making a lot of moves in the off-season probably a whole different team next year.

Why didn’t you let Anderson finish out game 3?

He gave up back to back hits & 1ER. Call it a gut feeling!

                      End of May - 2022

A little more than a third of the season is complete and while things haven't gone exactly as expected some of it has been for the better. We sit in 4th place in the central but we are only 3.5 games back of the division-leading White Sox. We have had a couple of injuries so far. Hard to say how much it's affected us since the offense was struggling before and after. M.J. Melendez hit the IL on May 11th with a Fractured Arm. He was hitting .260/.293/.390 with 3 HR while being perfect behind the plate and in RF. 5 days later on May 16th we placed Adalberto Mondesi on the IL with a Fractured Forearm. He had been better in may but overall had not shown he was worth the contract we gave him as he hit .227/.277/.328 with only 2 HR and 3 SB in 35 games.

We arent the only ones dealing with injuries in the division though. The White Sox have placed 3 separate short stops on the IL so far. Kevin Newman on April 27th followed by Andrelton Simmons on May 5th. They then made a trade to get J.P. Crawford from the Mariners only to place him on the IL 2 weeks later. The Guardians had 4 guys on the IL in April. 3 of them have since come back with only SP Tanner Tully still hurt. The Tigers have CF Riley Greene and 1B Spencer Torkelson on the IL right now. And then you have the Twins who have yet to have someone on the team get hurt.

                      Transactions
                      Spoiler

The offense has definitely been a little rough so far. As a team, we are hitting .245/.306/.397. All 3 place us in the bottom half of the league at 18th/25th/21st. The only things we have done well so far his hit doubles (102, T-4th) and not strikeout (372, T-2nd). Defensively we have been good as well with the 4th best Fielding % in the league at .991.

The only guys I would consider to be playing good are Salvador Perez and Nick Pratto. Salvy is 2nd in the league in HR with 19. But cooled off in May after he hit 14 of those 19 HR in April. Nick Pratto has the highest OBP on the team at .342 while hitting .266 with 9 HR so far. Benintendi hasn't been bad but the power he displayed last year has not shown up so far this season as he has just 5 HR so far. Bobby Witt has struggled to start the season. His AVG and OBP are slightly better than last year at .249 and .318. Like Benintendi, his power has been absent so far hitting just 5 HR so far putting him on pace for only 14 after hitting 25 last year. Kyle Isbel has been the worst hitter on the team to not get sent down. His .596 OPS is the worst on the team for qualified hitters. With the outfielders struggling we decided to pick up Jake Cave out of free agency. And so far he has been a nice surprise. He hit .254/.315/.432 with the Twins last season. And in 16 games for us this year he is hitting .345/.406/.552 with 3 HR. We brought Vinnie up to see how things would go and it didn't go well at all as he hit .128/.196/.234 in 47 AB before we sent him back to Triple-A.

The pitching while middle of the pack so far has been better than I expected. our team ERA is 3.72 (17th) compared to 4.33 at the end of last year. We are tied for 4th with 6 shutouts so far, 2 of those are complete games from Danny Duffy and Jace Vines. We are 4th in Walks allowed with 156 and 6th in strikeouts with 434.

Brady Singer has been the #1 pitcher we have been needing for who knows how long now. 7-2 with a 2.36 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 68.2 IP. His biggest improvement has been home runs. Allowing just 3 so far for a 0.39 HR/9 compared to 1.27 last year. Just behind him is Danny Duffy bouncing back from a couple of injury-riddled seasons putting up a 3.18 ERA in 70.2 IP. He has been very good at not allowing walks so far with only 13 for a 1.66 BB/9. Almost half of his career AVG at 3.22. The back half of the rotation hasnt been as good. Jace Vines has been good enough with a 4.34 ERA in 64.1 IP. His FIP is 3.53 so he could improve on that ERA a bit as the season goes on. Brad Keller slightly worse at 4.65 despite his K/9 being up compared to last year and his BB/9 being almost half of what it was. His HR/9 is up at 1.60 compared to his career AVG of 0.98. The 5th spot has been the biggest hurdle. Kris Bubic was not good at all putting up a 6.27 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 33 IP. Carlos Hernandez hasn't faired much better since taking his spot. A 5.85 ERA and an identical 1.70 WHIP in 4 games so far (20 IP). Of his 13 ER allowed 9 of them came in his first 2 starts. His last 2 have been much better with just 4 allowed for a 3.60 ERA. He will get a couple more starts to see how things go. Bubic has been very good since being sent down with a 1.93 ERA in 23.1 IP. Jonathan Bowlan is on the IL at the moment but he also has a 1.93 ERA to go along with a 0.93 WHIP in 28 IP. And Daniel Lynch has a 2.80 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP in 54.2 IP. Our 5th round pick from last season Alfonso Rios has made his way to Triple-A taking Bowlan's spot on the roster. He has a 4.05 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP in 26.2 IP so far. Down in Double-A, he had a 2.78 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 22.2 IP.

The bullpen has been excellent as well overall so far. No one in the pen right now has an ERA over 3.27. Josh Staumont blew a couple of saves in the first couple of weeks but has settled down picking up 18 saves with a 2.84 ERA. Dillon Maple has the lowest ERA in the pen at 2.30 with Joel Payamps putting up the lowest WHIP at 1.05. Dylan Coleman was sent down after pitching 7.1 innings with a 6.14 ERA. And we released our Rule 5 selection, Juan Minaya after he put up an 11.88 ERA in 8.1 IP. Taylor Clarke was brought up to replace one of them as we decided to go with a 12-man pen instead of 13. He has a 2.92 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP in 12.1 IP.

                      2023 MLB Draft
                      Spoiler

This was one of those times where letting the CPU draft did us no favors. While the top 2 picks have great potential. They will need to work very hard to get there. We went with HS outfielder Richie McCoy with the first pick. A home state kid with good speed and baserunning ability. Our 2nd round pick Alfonso Maldonado is very similar just a couple of years older. Good speed and good base running. Switch hitter coming in at 6'3, 210 pounds. Injuries could derail his progression. The safest pick is probably our 3rd pick reliever Hector Rosado. Not the greatest arm ever as he struggles to hit 90 on his 2-seamer. But he gets good movement on his pitches (also throws a changeup and slider) which helps limit his contact and punch people out. And after that there isnt much to say about the other 4 guys. Carlos Lopes our 5th-round pick has a lot of pitches to work with throwing a 4-seam, 2-seam, Slider, Change and a Curve. And our 3rd round pick Anthony Martinez does a great job staying healthy. Thats about it.

46 days with 41 games left until the all-star break. 21 games at home, 20 on the road, 15 against the division, and 23 against teams at or over .500. M.J. Melendez will be back in the next 2 to 3 weeks. I'm kind of confident with the SP situation. If Carlos Hernandez does keep playing well I think we will get it under control with Lynch, Bowlan, or maybe Bubic if he keeps playing well. Some of the guys like Witt and Benintendi have been heating up so hopefully, that continues and the offense can provide some help for the pitching.

Well, I accidentally over wrote my Cincinnati Reds franchise save. I was about 25 games in playing every pitch and now I’ll have to restart.

I’m thinking to run with the Jays now using the play 1 sim or quick manage 5 method. At least until I can catch up to the current schedule. Starting all over playing every game feels too daunting now.

I just have a couple questions for those of you who use quick manage.

Do injuries occur when quick managing?

And are sliders still in play when quick managing?

I quick manage my minor league games and yes injuries occur.

I cannot answer the sliders question as currently mine are at default
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Not exactly the Spring Training debut Marco Gonzales had in mind when he took the mound today. Giving up 4 runs (3ER) on 4 hits, including back to back to back home runs by Betts, Turner and Muncy in the first inning of work throwing 17 pitches.

In the 2nd inning Marco had a pick off play executed perfectly, after throwing to first a delayed throw by France allowed Turner to steal second. Freddie Freeman then absolutely crushed a 476ft HR to RF with a exit velocity of 105.6mph

After a mound visit from pitching coach Pete Woodward, Justus Sheffield replaces Marco Gonzales on the mound.

Tigers increase lead in the Central
The series win against the second place White Sox increases the Tigers lead in the A.L. Central to 14 games. It shows, however, that the White Sox aren't going away any time soon.

Shortstop Javier Baez had just one hit in the three game series, and saw his average fall to .272.

                              Cabrera resurgence continues
Miguel Cabrera had 5 hits in the series, including a pair of home runs, and drove in 6. Cabrera has enjoyed a resurgence at the plate this season, hitting .306 with 17 HR and 58 RBI (both lead the Tigers) in 69 games.
