Tigers(44-41) Bats Once Again Not Enough, Drop 2/3 to KC(38-45)
The Tigers continue to play average baseball, and have now dropped to 1.5 GB of the CWS, whom they play after this next series against Cleveland. In Game One, The Tigers gave up 2 Unanswered runs late to drop the game 3-2 despite a good pitching performance by Spencer Turnbull.

Game Two was a good showing by the offense, with some good pop as well, and even though the bullpen tried to blow it, the Tigers held on to win 5-4.

Game Three can just be forgot about as Mize had an inning with two errors that led to a 5 run inning, two earned, which put them in a hole they couldn't get out off. The Royals continued to add on, and beat the Tigers handily despite them scoring the most runs in a game they had all series. A loss, 13-6.

The Tigers do still sit in the second wildcard spot a game up on the Rangers, and just behind the Red Sox, but they continue this critical stretch of divisional games, looking to get back into the lead.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just completed the 4-game series vs. the Reds. We went 50/50 in our 1st home opening series.

It was a good home opening series. Our 2 wins were 5-2 ironic enough! Unfortunately, the blowout game victory belongs to the Reds. They took us to the woodshed Game 3 whipping us (13-3)! I am liking the winning the close ones and keeping my Set-up men (W. Smith(H,2) & Matzek(H,3)) involved in the games. The Starter's pitching that Quality Start and trusting the back of the pen for the rest of way.

Through 10 games played; 1B Olson is leading the team in Avg. .385 5HR,8RBI. 2B Albies is leading the in RBI's .341,5HR,12RBI. SP Fried(15.0IP,15K,1.20ERA) and I. Anderson(14.2IP,9K,2.46ERA) is leading the way with being (2-0) for our pitching staff. CP K. Jansen is 4 for 4 in save opportunities with a 0.00ERA & 5K.

Our record is 6-4, good for the 2nd in the NL East. Trailing the Mets (6-3) by 0.5. Up next is a 3-game series vs the Nats. Gm 1 Fried vs Thompson, Gm 2 Soroka vs Strasburg and Gm 3 Anderson vs Sanchez

          TIGER NOTES

          Haase to begin rehab assignment
Catcher Eric Haass is set to begin a rehab assignment in Toledo on Monday. Haase is recovering from a groin tear. The plan is to have him remain in Toledo through the All Star break, and if all goes well, rejoin the Tigers immediately after.

Tigers have inquired on Starting pitchers, and outfielders
With the trade deadline about 3 weeks away, the Tigers have reportedly shown interested in several Starting pitchers, and outfielders that could potentially be made available. It is rumored that the Tigers have inquired on pitchers such as the Giant's Carlos Rodon (10-3, 2.73), Cincinnati's Tyler Mahle (9-4, 2.62), The Royals Zack Greinke (6-6, 3.27), and the Twins Sonny Gray (2-8, 3.23). Grienke and Gray are both free agents at season's end, and would be seen as rentals. Rodon is signed through 2023, and Mahle would be under team control until 2024 so they would probably command a higher price.

It has also been reported that the Tigers have inquired on a couple outfielders, notably Mitch Haniger (.262, 10, 37) of Seattle, and Ketel Marte (.340, 15, 62) of the Diamondbacks. Both are free agents at the end of the season.

Detroit also is rumored to have reached out to the Nationals about Juan Soto (.261, 23, 62) but were told he was "not available"

MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

After a brief 4-game winning streak that took us to 32-31 and a mere half game out of first, I have now managed to lose seven straight.

It’s been a wonderful little struggle tbh in that the offense is actually picking up a bit, but now my pitching is falling off, so the end result is a slew of 5-4 and 7-3 sort of losses instead of the 2-1 and 2-0 losses I was getting a lot of earlier in the year.

I plan to write up a full report but will wait until I get to the halfway point. For now I just wanted to share that I’ve lost seven straight bc I have no one else to share that sort of thing with haha.
              Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

So I have a question regarding the settings for Franchise. I'm about to start a Franchise with the Angels but I still want to be able to make transactions with CPU controlled teams such as trades and free agent signings. As a background, in games like NBA 2K, I like to have accurate rosters in my seasons. I purposely start seasons a few months after the real season starts so that the player ratings are up to date and so I can follow any trades or free agent signings that occur. 2K allows you to take control of CPU teams in the middle of the season so that I can complete trades and free agent signings. I found out the hard way with my Franchise in The Show 21 that this is not an option once I start my season as I started my season with the default settings.

One of the Franchise settings is CPU Roster Control and the description is “allows you to manage all CPU controlled teams. When On, trading will be disabled, budgets and injuries will be ignored.” It sounds like this is an option I want On for what I’m looking for, but I’m confused by the trading will be disabled and budgets and injuries will be ignored. So will I not be able to make trades? If yes, can I make trades between two CPU teams? Will there be no injuries? I still want to be able to make trades and I want to have injuries happen for User and CPU teams. Any clarification would be appreciated.

For those that are interested I just completed "Season 1" of my Pittsburgh Pirates franchise.

I do a mix of play and sim. I include all my settings and try to note all the major roster moves and developments as the season goes along.

Braves(23-12) win series against Brewers (20-15)

                    Game 1: W 3-0
Ian Anderson pitched a great game with 10 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. The Brewers only managed to earn 3 hits for the entire game. Adam Duvall went 2 for 3, hitting his fourth home run of the year. Travis d'Arnaud also picked up his second home run of the year. Tyler Matzek earned his tenth save of the season to close out the game in the 9th.

                    Game 2: W 9-4
The Brewers jumped to an early lead with a 3 run inning in the 2nd. However, that lead would not last long as the Braves had what was possibly their best inning of the year with 7 runs scored in the 3rd. The Braves were hot picking up hit after hit. The entire order managed to bat in the 3rd and a few players did twice. Olson was the only one to actually hit a home run in the 3rd to pick up his ninth on the year. That lead would be extended in the 4th when Eddie Rosario would hit his 7th home run of the year also allowing Riley to score. The Brewers managed to earn a run in the 5th, bringing the score to 9-4 and that was the final score.

                    Game 3: L 0-1
Coming off of one of the best offensive games of the year, the Braves were a dud in the final game of the series. Actually, both teams were until Adames was able to steal home to score a run for the Brewers in the 9th. The only player on the Braves who managed to have a decent game offensively was Acuna going 3 for 4 with 3 singles in the game. A.J. Minter takes the loss (3-2).

Important to note that Kyle Muller would suffer a broken hand early in the 3rd inning. He'll be out anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. Muller has pitched a total of 35.1 innings so far this season with an ERA of 2.55
William Woods was called up to take his place while he's out.

I am playing a Franchise with the Tigers on hall of fame difficulty, and I'm 0-13.

Yes, 0-13. The Tigers are not good and hitting is hard. But I still love the game; I love all of the different ways the games play out, even if I've been on the losing end every time.

I worry that if I switch to All Star hitting, it will be too easy. I've played with other teams on hall of fame and can hit pretty well, so I think it's a Detroit Tigers problem. As a lifelong fan of this team, I can say the representation of this year's team with its digital counterpart is accurate.

One day after having their nine game winning streak snapped by the Marlins in extra innings, the Mets scored a 5-1 victory. Pete Alonso went 3-3 and homered for the second consecutive day, he finally appears to be snapping out of a funk that has lasted nearly half a season. The biggest news of the day came after the game as Joely Rodriguez was optioned to Syracuse and Jacob deGrom was recalled from Brooklyn to make his season debut tomorrow. The Mets will be utilizing a six man rotation for the time being.

In other league news, the biggest surprise around the league continues to be the play of the AL East, as the Baltimore Orioles have a one game lead with a 35-39 record

In a sign that dogs and cats may soon start to get along, the Cardinals have traded Jack Flaherty and Giovanny Gallegos to the Cubs for SS Nico Hoerner. The Cardinals currently have a 2.5 game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central

At this rate, I'm going to need to change my team's name to the Atlanta Rays.

It's mid-June 2022 in my Braves MLB 21 franchise. We hooked up with Tampa Bay on yet another deal, acquiring Yandy Diaz for third-base prospect Chris Guerrero. Diaz is the fourth Ray to join us in the last year. We picked up Diego Castillo at the deadline last season, and Nick Anderson and Kevin Kiermaier last month.

The real story though is that by moving Diaz, the Rays opened up a spot on their 40-man roster. They filled that spot by purchasing the contract of Wander Franco, the top-rated prospect in all of baseball. Looks like they're planning on platooning him with Willy Adames for the time being. But they've made it known Adames is on the block. With Dansby set to become a FA after the season, I've actually thought about Adames as a possible replacement next year.

Drew Waters is now the second-rated prospect. He's tearing it up at Gwinnett for me, but I have nowhere to put him, unless I decide to move Ozuna or Joc at the deadline. But that doesn't seem like a smart move for a team trying to defend its World Series title.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox and D-Backs also have a little something going on. Boston acquired Madison Bumgarner in one deal before going back and getting Caleb Smith from Arizona for Richard Rodriguez.

There is a chance that Skubal's start might be skipped on Sunday, to allow him to pitch in the All Star game, should he be named to the squad.

Well, we tried. Not very hard though. The first 3 games of the month went great as we swept the Twins in 3 games and outscored them 22-6. What followed was not as great. We lost 3 of 4 to Boston. Got swept by the White Sox, took 2 of 3 from Detroit, lost 2 of 3 to the White Sox, and then lost 2 of 3 to the Tigers. We finished the season strong winning 2 of 3 games from the Astros, Twins, and Guardians. But it wasn't enough to get us to .500 as we finished 80-82 and 3rd in the division.

Salvador Perez finished the season with a team record 51 HR on his way to his first MVP award. Joining George Brett as the only Royals to take home the award. (Mike Trout beat him in every single category except HR). He also won his 4th straight Silver Slugger and his 6th overall.

Bobby Witt Jr. continued his strong 2nd half to finish the season hitting .268/.325/.481 with 22 HR and 41 Doubles. In his last 54 games, he hit .322/.378/.607 with 12 HR, 16 Doubles, and 40 RBI.

The 3-year contract we gave to Adalberto Mondesi isn't looking great at the moment. Missed time with injury and just wasn't good when he was playing. His biggest strength has always been his speed and he only put up 6 SB on the year.

M.J. Melendez joins him in being a disappointment this season. After putting up a .760 OPS in 49 games last season its drops almost 100 points to .663 this year. He was a lot better in the first half but will need to really step up next year or he could find himself back in the minors.

The top 3 guys in the rotation did as well as we could have hoped. Keller could have been a bit better early on but was good enough to help us win. Finding a consistent 4th and 5th proved to be too much for us this year. Kris Bubic was decent to end the season after being one of the 2 guys added when rosters expanded. He made 5 starts and put up a 3.27 ERA although his WHIP was a little high at 1.48. Carlos Hernandez made 2 starts after a late call-up to see how he would do after some time in AAA. He went 6+ innings in both and put up a 2.08 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. As for the bullpen, there really isn't much to say other than the majority of them were flat-out bad in the 2nd half. After Maples went to the IL it seems like everyone outside of Seth Elledge and Jake Brentz blew up. At the break, we had 6 guys in the pen with an ERA under 4. We finished with 5 guys over. 4 under with 1 of them at 3.99 and another of missed the last 2 months.

Like last offseason, we still have control of pretty much the entire team. Brad Keller and Chad Pinder are the only guys eligible for free agency. And we have a team option on Danny Duffy for 5.5 million. With the way he pitched this year we would be pretty dumb to not go ahead and pick that up although he will be turning 35. Chad Pinder is an easy decision to let go and we should be able to bring back Keller but things could change there. Looking at areas to improve the rest of the team Starters and Relievers were not good enough. The outfield could be another area we look at with only Benintendi performing like an everyday player this season. And we may look at a 2B or 3B depending on what is available. Hopefully any pick-ups we do end up making turn out like Duffy did and not like Pinder.
