Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Finished year 1 of my development franchise, played about 60 games in Akrons season in AA, we went 100-38.

Brayan Rocchio was likely AA MVP leading AA in BA, OBP, Doubles and Triples with 28 HRs.

20 year old Jim Thome Jr lead AA in HRs with 57.

Daniel Espino lead AA with 15 wins, 196 Ks and 4 CGSO.

We won the AA title in game 5 thanks to a Jim Thome Jr lead off walk off HR in the bottom of the 9th.

Now off to the off season to break up the prospect super team. I tried moving the guys up to AAA but some just didn't have the stats to play.

Here's what everyone looks like heading into the 23 season.

    CF George Valera, 22, 73 ovr A
    CF Alexfri Planez, 21, 67 ovr C
    CF Petey Halpin, 20, 66 ovr, B
    SS Brayan Rocchio, 22, 73 ovr A
    3B Nolan Jones, 24, 73 ovr A
    3B Jhonkensey Noel, 21, 71 ovr C
    2B Jose Tena, 22, 69 ovr B
    1B Jim Thome Jr, 21, 75 ovr A
    C Josh Naylor, 23, 74 ovr, B

    SP
    Espino, 22, 81 ovr A
    Williams, 23, 78 ovr B
    Bibee, 23, 78 ovr B
    Allen, 24, 75 ovr B
    Boone, 22, 73 ovr C
    Hankins 22, 71 ovr B

Might move Valera, Naylor, Thome Jr, Rocchio to the Bigs, as I didn't have the money or roster space to make moves in FA this past off season and have holes in those spots. Going to bring up Espino for sure, maybe throw Williams and Allen in the pen.

☆☆Mets lose RP John Curtiss for 1-2 months with an injury in game one of the Dbacks series.

RP will rarely if ever get injured in game because the simple fact they don't pitch much in a single game. So in order to get some I will save my season, simulate my game only and if any RP for either team has an injury pop up I note it down.

Then reload my season, play the game, and manually create the injury after the game. I use random number app to decide how many days injured. Luckily it landed on 37 so just a little over a month. This is the first RP injury I've had in nearly 60 franchise games played and doing this.

We recalled RP Joely Rodriguez (L) from triple A. We really needed another lefty in the bullpen anyway so it works out. He could easily stay in the show when Curtiss returns if he performs well.

Mets RF Travis Jankowski injured in game one of Giants series and is expected to miss 2-3 months.

The injury bug has hit us hard in the first month of the season as another player goes down and on the IL. Thankfully this wasn't a starting lineup player. We recalled CF Jake Mangum from triple A to fill his platoon role.

                  Hey CB, quick question.

Do you set the “sim injury slider” to 8 as well? I know you don’t sim, but not sure if that impacts the CPU games as well.

Keep up the great work, love following along with your cardinals franchise!

I have mine set to 7 and yes it does effect the CPU. I don't think you should go higher than 7 for sim but could probably get away with 8. At 7 there are plenty of teams with 10 or more players on the IL in their organization so putting it at 8 might end up with teams not having enough guys to fill rosters (assuming the game lets you go above 15 injured players).

Cardinals split 4 game series with the Reds in St.Louis

The Cardinals (6-3) split their 4 game weekend series with the Reds in St.Louis. The Cardinals sit atop the NL Central division just 1/2 game up on the Brewers.

The Cardinals won Thursday behind Jack Flaherty who earned his 2nd win of the season. Unlike his first outing in 2023, Flaherty was on point allowing just 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings while recording 9 strikeouts with one lone walk. The offense was supplied by Dylan Carlson who put up 4 RBI's in route to a Cards 6-1 win.

On Friday Robbie Ray looked to follow up his first start with another masterful performance but that unfortunately that didn't happen. Ray was knocked out after 5 innings giving up 5 runs on 7 hits with 6 walks. The offense couldn't produce anything in route to a 7-1 loss.

Saturday the Cardinals recalled Johan Oviedo from Memphis for a spot start and he was brilliant! Oviedo went 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 10 strikeouts. Gio Urshela finally had a decent day at the plate going 2 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBI's as the Cards would win 8-4.

Sunday the ball went to Miles Mikolas and everything was good until the first pitch which ended up as a homerun. It wouldn't get any better as Mikolas struggled thru 5 innings giving up 6 runs on 10 hits with just 1 strikeout against 3 walks. The offense tried to get into it, at least Carlson did, as he recorded 3 RBI's but the Cards would fall 9-4.

The Cards are off tomorrow as they travel to Milwaukee for a 3 game series with the Brewers.

i have my sim slider set to 6 (In game is at 8). For me that feels just about right. Anything above that and I felt the CPU teams were crippled with long term injuries. Purely anecdotal for sure though. I'm curious as to what others see.

Kevin Newman goes down with a Torn MCL which will end his season. Newman was off to a hot start hitting.345. The Pirates will call up Hoy Park from Triple A will most likely be on the bench.

I won't be making that many changes through the season want to wait and see how guys progress. Most likely will be playing the waiver wire and trying to build for the future!

                            Starting nine:
LF: Jake Marisnick – leading him off to start might be more of a bench bat as the season goes
3B: Ke’Bryan Hayes – really hoping he pops off
CF: Bryan Reynolds – Expecting big things from him if I get an offer I can't refuse I'll take it.
                            1B: Daniel Vogelbach - [emoji378]
SS: Oneil Cruz – no way he starts at Triple A
C: Roberto Perez – definitely a trade piece he popped off in Spring Training.
DH: Yoshi Tsutsugo - he's here for now
RF: Dom T- Williams – picked him up in Free Agency, big fan of using him in the show.
2B: Diego Castillo/Michael Chavis – platoon for now

                            Bench:
OF: Greg Allen – fringe guy
UTL – Josh Vanmeter – he’ll play everywhere
                            C – Tyler Heineman – Backup
SS: Kevin Newman – Will play against lefties

                            Starting Rotation:
1: Zach Thompson – hope he can turn into a solid 2-3
                            2: J.T. Brubaker – probably a trade piece
3: Jose Quintana – hoping for something good so I can flip
4: Mitch Keller – does terrible in the show we shall see
5: Tyler Beede – might as well

                            Bullpen:
LRP: Will Crowe – I think he'll be solid
MRP: Dillon Peters – glitchy player
MRP: Chris Stratton – usually solid in Franchise
MRP: Felix Bautista – traded Ben Gamel for him from the Orioles
MRP: Heath Hembree – Will flip
SU: Edgar Santana – brought him back on a 1yr deal
                            CL: David Bednar – stud

                            Transactions:
Signed Edgar Santana to a 1yr deal. Signed Dom T-Williams to a 1yr deal. Traded Ben Gamel to the Orioles for Felix Bautista. Signed C.J. Chatham to a minor league deal.

To add on to topic. I have sim injury slider at default 5. Played games I use 10. I have been posting cpu injuries in simmed games so you can see how many I am getting. Side note, for minor league games I have sim injury slider at 1.
