Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Started a Mets franchise with most up to date live rosters. Plan to edit players as live rosters come so I'm not feeling like I want to restart after every 2 or 3 updates lol. Will probably continue my Mariners franchise but simulate a lot of it however. First few series I have played already with Mets and will post updates soon.

Cardinals sweep Pirates in mini 2 game series at Busch

The Cardinals (4-1) swept the Pirates in a mini 2 game series at Busch Stadium in St.Louis. This was the first series played after the Cardinals lost both Nolan Arenado and Harrison Bader for the season.

Monday afternoon was the home opener with Miles Mikolas getting the ball on the bump. He was terrific going 7 strong innings allowing just 4 hits and 1 ER in route to his first victory of the season. The Cardinals bats didn't have much, but enough to earn the 3-1 win as Gio Urshela delivered a 2 run double in the 6th that would break a 1-1 tie.

After being off Tuesday, the two teams met again Wednesday afternoon with 41 year old Adam Wainwright getting the ball. Wainwright would go 6 innings pitching shutout baseball and scattering 5 hits. Dylan Carlson's RBI double in the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs would be the only run the offense would score, but that would be all it took.

The Cardinals are back at Thursday night (first night game of season) as they welcome the Reds to town for a 4 game series.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Mets star 1B Pete Alonso goes down with injury. Will be out for 2-3 months.

A huge loss in the middle of our lineup with the former homerun derby champion. The injury occured in game two of the series in Philadelphia. Dominic Smith will get the starting 1B role in the lineup. Recalled C Patrick Mazeika, who can also play 1B if needed.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

I’m back with the 2022 Pirates using Ridin Rosters. The pirates finished in first place in Spring Training somehow lol. I won't be making that many changes through the season want to wait and see how guys progress. Most likely will be playing the waiver wire and trying to build for the future!

                  Starting nine:
LF: Jake Marisnick – leading him off to start might be more of a bench bat as the season goes
3B: Ke’Bryan Hayes – really hoping he pops off
CF: Bryan Reynolds – Expecting big things from him if I get an offer I can't refuse I'll take it.
                  1B: Daniel Vogelbach - 💣
SS: Oneil Cruz – no way he starts at Triple A
C: Roberto Perez – definitely a trade piece he popped off in Spring Training.
DH: Yoshi Tsutsugo - he's here for now
RF: Dom T- Williams – picked him up in Free Agency, big fan of using him in the show.
2B: Diego Castillo/Michael Chavis – platoon for now

                  Bench:
OF: Greg Allen – fringe guy
UTL – Josh Vanmeter – he’ll play everywhere
                  C – Tyler Heineman – Backup
SS: Kevin Newman – Will play against lefties

                  Starting Rotation:
1: Zach Thompson – hope he can turn into a solid 2-3
                  2: J.T. Brubaker – probably a trade piece
3: Jose Quintana – hoping for something good so I can flip
4: Mitch Keller – does terrible in the show we shall see
5: Tyler Beede – might as well

                  Bullpen:
LRP: Will Crowe – I think he'll be solid
MRP: Dillon Peters – glitchy player
MRP: Chris Stratton – usually solid in Franchise
MRP: Felix Bautista – traded Ben Gamel for him from the Orioles
MRP: Heath Hembree – Will flip
SU: Edgar Santana – brought him back on a 1yr deal
                  CL: David Bednar – stud

                  Transactions:
Signed Edgar Santana to a 1yr deal. Signed Dom T-Williams to a 1yr deal. Traded Ben Gamel to the Orioles for Felix Bautista. Signed C.J. Chatham to a minor league deal.

                  Prospect Watch: 👀
SP: Roansy Contreras Triple A – couple months then up to the big club
                  SP: Quinn Priester Double A
C: Henry Davis Double A – Definitely a chance to be in the bigs by season end.
                  C: Endy Rodriguez Double A
                  2B: Nick Gonzalez Double A
SS: Liover Peguero Triple A – possible call up in September
CF: Travis Swaggerty Triple A – will be up sooner than later

I'll update every two months and any major issues.

Cardinals place Dakota Hudson on 15 Day IL

RHP Dakota Hudson has been placed on the 15 day IL due to a strained pectoral. Hudson left the game in the 2nd inning Sunday with the injury. He's expected to miss 2-3 weeks with the injury.

The Cardinals have yet to make a corresponding move.

Ouch…..Those are some serious injuries and probably hurt your chances of success unless you have a good farm system to pull from.

                          Mike Clevinger vs Freddy Peralta

Brewers bats go wild and win 14-3. Nothing else to say really. Hunter Renfroe, Severino and McCutcheon all homered.

                          W: Freddy Peralta 6.2 INN, 6 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 1 ER

                          L: Mike Clevinger 6.0 INN, 10 H, 5 K, 4 BB, 3 ER

Series: A split, 2 each but both losses for SD were ugly blowouts. Ramon Laureano started his career with The Friars. So far after his suspension to start his 2022 season, 5 with Oakland and 4 with Milwaukee, he has yet to register a hit.

Game 61 (28-32) San Diego Padres vs New York Mets (28-33)

                          Yu Darvish vs Max Scherzer

The Mets teed of in San Diego 10-3. Yu Darvish was rocky from the start. The 2nd pitch of the game, Jeff McNeil left the yard, going 3 for 5 with 2 homeruns and a triple. Yu Darvish left the game with no outs in the 3rd and down 6-0. The Mets racked up 16 hits and San Diego will hope for a goldfish memory after the series opener.

                          W: Max Scherzer 8 INN, 5 H, 7 K, 1 BB, 1 ER

                          L: Yu Darvish 2 INN, 8 H, 2 K, 6 ER

Series: San Diego takes 2 of 3 afte rthe ugly opener. San Diego welcome The Rockies to San Diego for 3 games and the return of Fernando Tatis who will slot in at SS with rumors speculating a move to outfield still possible. C.J Abrams will move to 2nd and Cronenworth to 1st which puts the 20 million dollar contract of Eric Hosmer to the bench. Ha-Seong Kim .165 avg, .278 slg will head to El Paso to make room for Tatis.

Game 64: (34-29) Colorado Rockies @ San Diego Padres (30-33)

                          Kyle Freeland vs Joe Musgrove

San Diego opened the game with back to back homeruns from Abrams and Machado. A 6-6 game in the 9th, 2 outs bases loaded and Trent Grisham comes up to bat, a triple shy of the cycle and he strikes out. Colorado gets the win 7-6 in the 11th after scoring and then catching Cronenworth out at the plate after tagging up. A disappointing result and worse after Tatis goes hitless in 4 AB's although to his credit he had 2 walks.

Series: Padres take 2 of 3 despite a single hit from Tatis in his 1st series of the season.

****Luis Campusano, the Padres top prospect heads to the IL for 4-6 months with a torn achilles. Many predicted he'd get his callup in the Summer. Now they just hope he comes back healthy with no setbacks.

A lot of moving parts but seems like you have a good grasp on the roster.

                            Start of September - 2023

The final month of the season is upon us. And for the first time since 2016 or 17, the Royals have something to play for. The team sits at 66-68. 7.5 games back of the White Sox in the division and 6 games back of the Yankees in the Wild Card. It won't be easy. But at least there is a chance.

The playoff races around the league look to be a lot more exciting than last season. The AL East seems to be the only division where you can pick a winner at this point with the Blue Jays holding a 12-game lead with an MLB best 85-50 record. The White Sox are only up 2 games on the Guardians, The Angels have half a game lead over the Astros with the Mariners and Rangers 3.5 and 4.5 games back. Over in the NL the Marlins lead the Braves by 2 games with the Phillies 5 games back. The Cubs are up 3 games on the Cardinals and the Dodgers lead over the Padres went from 9 games at the AS break to only 1.5 games now. The Rays and Yankees lead the AL Wild Card at 73-62 ad 72-62 with another 6 teams within 6 games. Over in the NL, the Padres and Braves lead at 78-56 and 75-60 with 4 teams within 6 games. Meanwhile, the Pirates look to be picking #1 overall next season sitting at 40-95. Their 114-loss pace would be the most in team history.

The offense overall hasn't changed much. Bobby Witt on the other hand definitely has. After hitting .242 with a .726 OPS through the first half of the season he has turned it around and put together the best stretch of his career. Over the last 28 games, he has hit .340/.406/.670 wth 8 HR and 9 Doubles. For the season he is now hitting .260/.320/.468 with 18 HR and 34 Doubles.

Salvy has continued to destroy the ball with a league-leading 44 HR and 106 RBI now. He is also the favorite to win AL MVP at the moment (Trout is getting screwed). M.J. Melendez hasn't hit well at all since the break. Going from .250/.287/.411 to .230/.290/.375 and has 2 HR in 33 games.

We are still struggling to find 5 consistent starters. Daniel Lynch pitched well the first few weeks then blew up before getting sent down. Jonatha Bowlan was sent to AAA after his ERA hit 5.63. Asa Lacy took his spot to make his MLB debut and gave up 8 ER in 3 IP (a game we lost 9-7 after getting 17 hits to Colorados 9). It hasn't gone much better since then giving up 13 runs in his next 20 IP.

The bullpen has also been a mess all of a sudden. Dillon Maples suffered a Torn Rotator Cuff on July 23rd. Domingo Tapia replaced him and has an ERA of 7.41. Staumont lost his closer role and has an ERA of 4.26 now. Taylor Clarke got sent to AAA. Dylan Coleman took his spot and then got sent back down with Clarke coming back up.

                            Spoiler

We have 28 games to go before the season is over. 12 games at home and 16 on the road. With 21 division games and 15 against teams at or over .500. I would be surprised if we ended up in a playoff spot. If the pitching could get its **** together we might have a shot. But it's not looking likely. Alfonso Rios our 5th round pick from last season could get a look here soon. He has a 3.11 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 81 IP in AAA. Lacy will get one more start along with Kris Bubic who we just called back up as well.

Texas Rangers Update Season 2 MOM

Well we are at the start on June and the Texas Rangers sit at 29-39. Last place in the division an 11 games out of first place. We are playing a lot better then last year but it is still disappointing. My starting pitching has really let me down. Joe Musgrove has been an absolute bust. I brought him in to be my Ace and he pitched so bad the first 2 months with an ERA over 7 that i finally sent him down to AAA. Martin Perez has also been terrible. ERA over 6. Taylor Hearn, ERA over 6. Dunning ERA over 6. The only pitcher who has been Ok has been Arihara. Jon Grey after a horrible season last year has rebounded and pitched well. I just don't understand why I have so many terrible starters. There are only so many different options to look at.
Around the league, the Dodgers have rebounded and are now in 3rd place. Injuries and the loss of FA's left them in a bad spot after last years World Championship.

Loving all the reads they are better than playing for me. I have restarted my franchise like 15 times still not sure on what team to use so I stopped posting. Its now June and still have not started. I have narrowed it down to 2 or 3 teams and likely have played 162 games already just from trying each team for 3 to 15 games. Maybe one day soon I can start posting again. I will wait until I get through an entire month of a season. But the reads are great. I love seeing how many people play and challenge themselves so that if and when they make the playoffs they actually can feel like they worked for it. Lots of sim style guys in the forums makes it a blast to read.
