Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Few things I would like to ask this specific forum.

Are any of you guys into Reddit? As a long time content creator (long form writing, pictures, videos, etc) for FIFA, I tried getting on the The Show Franchise subreddit but it’s dead there. If anyone was open to it, we could breathe new life and post all of our stuff there. I only suggest it because you can add loads of pictures, videos, etc.. just a thought.

Now onto my Franchise. I had decided maybe 2 weeks ago that despite my desire for an Orioles rebuild, I was going to go to Oakland. However unsure of how The Show normally updates rosters, patches, etc.. was debating on starting with my favorite team the Mets. Tough decisions to start already lol

Appreciate any feedback guys, hope you all are well!

      2022 Arizona Diamondbacks 03/31-04/02
Overall Record 2-1 (3rd NL West)

Kelly starts hot, leads Arizona to first series victory

Carson Kelly led the way for the Diamondbacks in the season opening series against the Brewers. Kelly went 5 for 12 (.416) while also collecting 5 RBI's.

Game one saw Zac Gallen outlast last seasons CY Young award winner, Corbin Burnes as the Diamondbacks spoiled the Brewers first home game of the season 3-1. Gallen ended up pitching six strong innings while he allowed four hits and one run. He also struck out four batters while walking just one. Contributing to the scoring was Josh Rojas, David Peralta and Christian Walker as each had a single run batted in. The team as a whole struggled offensively, only amassing four hits. However, small ball was the name of the game as Rojas' and Walker's RBI's came on sacrifice flys.

Game two saw Madison Bumgarner struggle for Arizona (6.0 IP 9 H 4 R 7 SO). All four of the Brewers runs came off of homeruns by Tellez, McCutchen and Brosseau. The Arizona bats failed to really produce again with just six hits and a single run leading to a 4-1 loss and a series tie.

Game three is where Carson Kelly got all five of his RBI's. The first came in the first inning off a single and the other four came off a grand slam in the top of the 3rd that broke the game wide open at that point in time (6-1 Arizona). The Diamondbacks would score four more in the 5th bring their run total to 10. The Brewers would fight until the end as four runs in the bottom of the 9th brought the score to 10-7. At that point, Mark Melancon came in to get the last two outs and his second save of the young season.

Arizona will stay on the road with a trip to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers who had a rough four game series against Colorado to start the year (1-3).

Well after a lot of thinking and narrowing my choices down to three; the Astros, who are my team, the Reds, who I would trade their veterans away to become young, and Royals… I ultimately chose the Royals. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to use the #1 prospect in baseball.

My plan is to play all of the home games and Quick Manage the road games. I will also play some minor league games to get a look at the minor league guys. I will look to update as I go along.

Cardinals drop series to Marlins in Miami

The Cardinals (8-10) have dropped yet another series to begin the 2022 season, this time to the Marlins in Miami.

The Cardinals won Tuesday night behind a complete game, one hit shutout by Jack Flaherty. On Wednesday, they got an equally impressive outing from Adam Wainwright, who went 8 strong innings, but fell in 11 innings 2-1 after missing multiple opportunities to win the game. On Thursday, Steven Matz had his best outing of the season, but again the bats were unable to produce as the Cards fell 2-0.

The lack of offensive production is beginning to become a concern for a lineup that consists of the bats it does. Tyler O'Neill and Dylan Carlson hovering around .100 mark in the middle of the lineup and Harrison Bader and Tommy Edman hovering around the .200 mark at the top of the lineup is problematic. If production from these 4 doesn't pick up soon, manager Carlos Marmol may be forced to shake up the lineup and/or the roster.

The Cardinals will now travel to Cincinnati for a 3 game weekend series with the Reds.

A Trip Around the Bases of the League

1st) Jack Flaherty leads the majors in strikeouts with 33.

2nd) There have been 7 complete game shutouts thus far in baseball

3rd) The Guardians lead the majors with 21 stolen bases as a team

Home) Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez is a perfect 17 for 17 at the plate this season for Scranton

It definitely makes sense...not just because of Davis (He has options left and could probably use a bit more time in AAA), but also for guys like Hermosillo and Ortega who would have to go through waivers to be sent down. I think the Cubs want to keep Heyward around cause he is a good leader/clubhouse guy, but at some point I think they will have to make a difficult decision if he still can't hit.

                      -Mike Clevinger vs Madison Bumgarner
It was the Josh Rojas show. San Diego had 8 hits to the 3rd basemen and 7 of those became outs with a simple throw to 1st base. Rojas commited 1 error, but thats ok when you account for all of your teams scoring. Two homeruns, three RBI's. Arizona won 3-1.
                      W: Madison Bumgarner 7 Inn, 3 H, 3 K
                      L: Mike Clevinger 7 Inn, 5 H, 5 K, 3 ER

Series: The series was split 2-2 which included a walk off win by Arizona.

                      -Yu Darvish vs Carlos Rodon
Darvish got the better of Rodon in the opening day game but it wasn't to be in this one. Manny Machado got his 1st homerun of the season but The Friars lost 3-2. Rodon went 6.2 inn with 4 strikeouts. Lamonte Wade and Casali both went deep for San Francisco.
                      W: Carlos Rodon 6.2 Inn, 6 H, 4 K, 2 B, 1 ER
                      L: Yu Darvish 6 Inn, 5 H, 5K, 1 B, 3 ER

Series: San Diego took 2 of 3 with 11 hits in the final matchup, winning 6-4. San Diego welcomes the defending World Series Champions to San Diego for a 4 game series next.

                        Cardinals - MTO

Cardinals spoil the Pirates home opener, winning 2-0 behind a gem by Adam Wainwright who pitched 8 innings of 2 hit baseball.

They would go on to win their next 4 games, sweeping the Pirates and Cubs to start the season 5-0.

Back to St. Louis for the home opener vs the Pirates!

Ended up going with the Twins. Great uniforms, awesome looking stadium plus Byron Buxton, Correa and some great looking prospects in the farm with Royce Lewis , Austin Martin and Jordan Balazovic.

Jordan made the opening day roster as the 4th starter. Unfortunately; it looks like Royce is blocked by Correa and Polanco. Desperately need new blood at SP(Sonny Gray as my number 1 is terrifying) , 1B, 3B & LF. Gary Sanchez is a nice stop gap at C with a strong arm and decent power, but, I’ll be looking to draft an up and coming catcher in this draft.

Fun team here that seems well balanced in terms of power, hitting and defense. Will provide an update after I play Opening Day. Lineup looks like this.

                          SP: Sonny Gray

                          1B: Miguel Sano
                          2B: Carlos Correa
                          3B: Gio Urshela
                          SS: Jorge Polanco
                          CF: Byron Buxton
                          RF: Max Kepler
                          LF: Trevor Lamach

On franchise is anyone else having more trouble hitting with the minor leaguers? I like to play with the minor league teams too in my Twins franchise (to help develop those pitchers) but am finding it WAY harder to hit with the minor leaguers. Any tips? I know it’s likely because their stats are much lower and I am still an average player with zone hitting. Thanks all for any feedback!

Tigers(8-2) FINALLY Lose, Drop 2/3 to White Sox (5-4)

The streak ends at 7, as the Tigers would drop the first and last game of this series against the Division Foe White Sox. Pitching was good for the first two games, but hitting really was the sore subject in this series.

Game 1-Giolito exits w/injury after 1.1, so the Sox pen have 5 combine to throw 7.2, give up only 5 hits and one run. Pineda followed up his wonderful no hit perfomance with another good one, but it just wasn't enough as Fulmer would give up 2 in the 8th to seal the deal.

Game 2- An absolute pitcher's duel to the very end, and that end was the end of the 12th. Tigers are now 3-0 in extras this season, as they outlasted the White Sox 1st inning Jose Abreu solo HR with two of their own, one by Candy in B7 to tie, and then the dagger by Javy Baez(Which was his sixth on the season), in the bottom of the twelveth. He also finished a single shy of the cycle, and had 3/5 Tigers hits on the day.

Game 3- Rough, a 5-1 Loss at the hands of 14 hits by the White Sox, Grandal doubled twice, with 4 hits and was the catalyst for their offense. Keuchel went 5 strong w 4H 1ER 0BB and 2K, and the pen held off a Tigers offensive front to easily hold the one. Skubal was hit around as he was responsible for all 5 runs, 10H, with 1BB and only 1K to follow as well. Solo bright spot for this game was Miguel Cabrera FINALLY hitting number 3000, as he creeps towards the HOF and retirement as well.

Going into the Boston series, which is 3 games, the Tigers hold a 1.5 game lead in the Central over the newly renamed Guardians.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but during franchise when a players career stat is shown it says 1 season which for a veteran would not be correct.
