Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

    Spring Training update:

The Kansas City Royals finished the spring with a 15-17 record and look to turn the page to the regular season.

Bobby Witt showed flashes but finished with just a .226 batting average while showing decent power. Andrew Benintendi had the best production from the plate, hitting .288 with a pair of HRs and driving in 16 runs.

Brady Singer and Jackson Kowar really struggled with consistency and will pitch out of the bullpen while they iron out some things.

The Royals only made one mini move to add some INF depth, sending minor league journeyman SP Jace Vines to the Nationals for former Royals veteran SS Alcides Escobar.

The roster will shake up like this heading into Opening Day vs the new look Guardians:

    SP rotation:

    Zack Greinke
    Brad Keller
    Daniel Lynch
    Carlos Hernandez
    Kris Bubic

    Bullpen

    Jonathan Bowlan
    Amir Garrett
    Joel Payamps
    Jackson Kowar
    Brady Singer
    Josh Staumont
    Jake Brentz
    Scott Barlow

    C: Salvador Perez
    Cam Gallagher

    1B: Carlos Santana
    Ryan O’Hearn

    INF: Nicky Lopez
    Alaberto Mondesi
    Alcides Escobar
    Bobby Witt Jr

    OF: Andrew Benintendi
    Michael A. Taylor
    Whit Merrifield
    Hunter Dozier
    Edward Olivares

Dozier/Merrifield will provide positional flex as they are both able to play on the infield.

I’m sure there will be a lot of adjustments to the makeup of the team due to performances, especially with the pitching slots not exactly set in stone. I can’t wait to see how things shape up.

Starting in game one, I will be playing every pitch of this franchise. Let’s go!

20-11 with the cubs. Struggling lately losing 3 of 4 to start May. Really struggling offensively these past games. The one win was a 1-0 1 hit win an Ian Happ triple off Lance Lynn to beat the white Sox. Just lost 4-1 to the Dodgers tallying only 3 hits. 2 from top prospect Brennan Davis including his first career home run. I get Suzuki back from the injured list in 3 in game days so I’m really looking forward to that as he’s hitting just under .300 with 6 homers.

        HE DOES IT AGAIN!!!

After sweeping LA we are now sitting at 14-7 with a 2.5 lead in the division over LA. Next up we hit the road for 3 vs CIN who we swept before LA. The winning streak now stands at an even 10. Machado and Fernando continue to rake. Jake is finally getting hot as you can see.

Cool franchise you have going. Hate that you’re whipping my Dodgers. Will have to make sure that doesn’t happen in my franchise lol.

              I went with the Reds.

First step was to bring back Johnny Cueto.

Then we pretty much sold the farm to acquire Cedric Mullins to play center. Luckily Hunter Greene was not part of the package.

Finally Michael Conforto was signed to play right.

Won the first series versus the Cubs 2-1.

              Game 1: 9-3 Reds
              Game2: 5-1 Cubs
              Game 3: 8-0 Reds

              Series stars:

              Conforto OPS 1.455
              Farmer. OPS 1.091
              Pham. OPS 1.053
              Cueto. 7 k’s. 0.67WHIP.

              N.L. Highlights

              Mark Canha 3 HR’s
Acuna Jr. 6 RBI and 8 runs

Next series vs the Pittsburg Pirates.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

                Cubs Draft Recap:
                1st(7th): SP David Mcatee (Age:18,OVR: 68, POT: A),
                2nd:SP Pedro Saucedo (Age:18,OVR:63POT:A)
                3rd: SP Domenic Morales (Age:21,OVR: 66,POT: C),
                4th: CF Ken Washington (Age:20,OVR:58,POT:A)

The Cubs look to have selected the ace of the future in high schooler David McAtee. The 6’1 190LB 18 year old LHP from California has 3 pitches (4SFB, CH, CB) and projects to be a high strikeout pitcher. He could reach 98MPH on his FB, and his CH and CB both sit in the low 80s. His downside is his control, and he may have issues walking batters, but his stuff is nasty and electric and should counter his control issues.

2nd Rd Pick Pedro Saucedo is also a high school pitcher, and is a bit more raw than McAtee. He only hits 92-93 on the gun, but his CH and SL are + pitches and he has the potential to be a consistent ground ball pitcher.

The Cubs went pitcher again in round 3 with 21 year old RHP Domenic Morales from the University of Kentucky. He has 5 pitches, good control, and looks to be a groundball pitcher. He does not have strike out stuff, and could transition to the bullpen as he develops.

4th round pick was Outfielder Ken Washington who is one of the best athletes in the draft. His defense is major league ready now, and he led the country in steals at the University of Alabama. His bat has a long way to go to be major league ready, but the athleticism and tools are present.

Overall, the Cubs were very pleased with the draft, as they lacked pitching talent in the farm system and came away with a couple prospects to be happy about.

                  Arizona Diamondbacks 04/12-04/13

Overall record 7-5 (2nd NL West)

                  Diamondbacks split miniseries with Astros

The Houston Astros won game one of the mini series against the Diamondbacks (3-2). The game was started off with a bang as Kyle Tucker hit off a lead off homer. The game would go into extras and a Alex Bregman homerun in the top of the 10th would score two. The DBacks would score one in the bottom of the tenth but would fall short.

Game two saw another low scoring game as Arizona took the victory 2-1 with Madison Bumgarner collecting his first win of the season and Mark Melancon collecting his sixth save with a shutout ninth.

The Diamondbacks will get a day of rest before starting a three game series against the New York Mets (7-5)

Twins set sights on playoffs after wild off-season

I will play the first game of each series and quick manage all other games. I like to have control over what happens but just don't have the time to get through 162. As we get down the stretch, if I am in the hunt, I may play all AL central division games. Pretty much HOF default with a few tweaks and maxed out pitch speed.

I plan on updating after each week of the season, and I am debating on whether to create a website using Google Sites like I have done before.

Twins take 2 of 3 to start season in Chicago

Here is the link to my Google Site! It will also be in signature as well. More will be added as the season tags along.

                      Game 1 Twins 7, White Sox 6

The Twins jumped out to an early 6-2 lead only to see the Sox coming storming back to tie the game at 6 going to the ninth. Ryan Jeffers then deposited a Garrett Crochet fastball into the seats and Tyler Duffey pitched a perfect ninth for the win.

Byron Buxton and Luis Arraez each had three hits out of the 1-2 spots in the order.

                      Game 2 White Sox 4, Twins 1

Sonny Gray's Twins debut did not go as planned as he was roughed up for all four runs in his four innings of work, and the Twins bats could not solve Michael Kopech's arsenal of pitches.

Luis Arraez drove in the lone Twins run.

                      Game 3 Twins 11, White Sox 4

After a quiet night at the plate in game two, the Twins bats exploded for four homeruns and eleven runs. Gio Urshela hit a grand slam in the sixth to break the game open, and Dylan Bundy was sharp over six innings, allowing just two runs and striking out six.

Jorge Polanco contributed 3 hits but Carlos Correa was held hitless over the three-game set.

Been having a blast playing the Show for the time in a decade and rebuilding the Rockies!
A couple questions: does the difficulty level I play on affect how my team does when I sim games? (I.e., is playing on All-Star any different than playing on beginner when it comes to simming?).

Also, I was surprised to see I wasn’t able to set my active roster at the end of Spring Training, despite everything looking to be on Manual. Instead, the CPU did it for me. Same with warming up relievers in the bullpen. I’ll go to warm up a pitcher and notice the CPU has already starting doing that. Is there a setting I need to change for this?

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

June (44-37): The Cubs posted back to back 16-11 month’s to find themselves at 44-37 through the halfway mark of the season, which puts them on pace for 88 wins. They are 1.5GB behind the Cardinals who are 46-36.

This team is certainly playing better than expected and has the North side of Chicago rocking heading into July.

This month saw the status quo change for the Cubs as the lineup produced in big numbers, while the top pitchers on the staff had a rough patch. The surge in the Cubs lineup saw them jump from 21st in the league in Runs Scored all the way up to 12th. The teams AVG and HR’s also saw them jump 6 teams in the rankings this month.

The Cubs had to deal with injuries this month, as Madrigal missed the first 2 weeks of June with a hamstring injury, and in a longer duration the Cubs will be without rookie outfielder Nelson Velasquez who suffered torn calf midway through June. A month in which he was really heating up despite a poor start to his career.

The Cubs received more bad new on the injury front that the #1 prospect in the system OF Brennen Davis suffered another injury, and will miss the remainder of 2022 with a dislocated ankle. Many fans and the Cubs themselves expected Davis to debut in the MLB this year, but that will now have to wait until 2023.

TRADE: The Cubs did not want to see Heyward (.182) in the lineup, and the Cubs were lacking outfield depth, So
they struck a deal with the Rangers (36-45) for veteran utility man Brad Miller in exchange for 19 yr old OF Prospect Owen Caissie and SP Alec Mills, who had been the AAA for the Cubs this year and will immediately jump into the Rangers rotation.

Miller hopes to provide depth and a solid bat around the diamond in lieu of injuries and other poor performances from Frazier and Heyward.

Miller is .250AVG/.333OBP/10HR/31RBI on the season for TEX.

Not all was bad on the outfielder front this month for the Cubs, as Rookie OF Seiya Suzuki saw his best month yet as a pro, and it was good enough for him to win NL Rookie of the month. His monthly #'s were (.285AVG/7HR/29RBI)

The Cubs will start the 2nd half of the year in a competitive position, one many did not forsee entering the season.

Cubs lose again and have dropped 5 of the last 6 after getting swept by the Dodgers. Once again the offense struggled scoring just 2 runs on 6 hits. Schwindel had 3 of those hits. Miley gave up 2 runs over 6 innings but it was not good enough. Cubs are 20-13 on the season.
