    September 23-25: ST GEORGE (83-73) @ FLAGSTAFF (81-75)
    Stadium: AutoZone Park (Capacity: 9,486)

    September 23: Hops 7, Archers 7
    September 24: Hops 3, Archers 2 (10)
    September 25: Archers 4, Hops 3

Flagstaff, AZ (AP) - The Flagstaff Hops took two of three from the St George Archers to close out the home portion of their 2022 schedule. Their playoff hops are hanging by a string, four games back with six games to play.

The Hops took the opener in a wild one, 9-7. Robbie Westbrook hit a first inning grand slam and drove in five to help pull the Hops to within two games of the Archers.

Flagstaff jumped out to a 5-0 lead and looked to cruise to victory but it was not that easy. They would blow a 7-1 lead after five innings, giving up five unearned runs as the Archers clawed their way back to tie the game at 7-7 on a Neal Samuels solo home run in the seventh.

But a Roberto Geronimo RBI single in the bottom of the seventh put the Hops back in front to stay as they took the opener of this huge series for both teams.

Russell Fluty (1-0) would pick up the win, despite getting saddled with a blown save for allowing the home run to Samuels. Vic Miller picked up his 40th save pitching a 1-2-3 ninth.

Robbie Westbrook now has 30 home runs and 86 RBIs on the year while hitting .303. He also has 48 stolen bases.

On Saturday evening, the Hops would win it in dramatic fashion as Arturo Mardones hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure a 3-2 victory. The win moved the Hops to within a game of the Archers and just three games of a Wild Card with seven games left.

St George would take a 2-0 lead in the fifth on a Scottie Hager RBI triple and Rolando Powers RBI double.

Donnie Roland would answer right back in the bottom half with a two-run home run to right, his ninth on the year, to tie the game at 2-2.

It would stay that way until the tenth when Mardones hit the walk-off home run with two outs off of Richie Smith. It was his 22nd on the year and kept the Hops postseason hopes alive. Smith (1-4) took the loss for the Archers. Oliver Benedict (5-7) picked up the win for Flagstaff. He pitched two innings, allowing three hits and a walk.

In the finale, the St George Archers rallied with single runs in the eighth and ninth to pull out a 4-3 victory and avoid the three game sweep that would have left the teams tied in the standings. A Mario Parra RBI single with two-outs in the ninth was the difference for St. George as they kept their Wild Card hopes alive.

St George jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third off of Shoe-Lace O’Tying on a Rolando Powers solo home run and a Damon Martens RBI single. Josh Ortega would get one back in the bottom half with an RBI double to cut the lead in half.

Arturo Mardones would hit a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to put the Hops up 3-2. It was his 23rd on the season. But the bullpen could not make that hold up. Aldo Osuna gave up a solo home run to Percy Sievers in the eighth and a two-out RBI single to Parra in the ninth as he took the loss.

Sam Goodman came on and sent down the Hops in order in the ninth to pick up his 42nd save.

Flagstaff (81-75) now heads to Salt Lake (73-83) for three and closes out the season at Colorado Springs (84-72). The Hops are three games back of Colorado Springs in the ML West and 3 1/2 games back of Fort Worth for the second ML Wild Card spot.

Around the League: Fort Worth got a huge ninth inning home run from George Newman as they defeated San Diego 10-9 to move a full game ahead of St George in the Mountain League Wild Card race. Santa Fe scored three in the bottom of the tenth to walk it off on a Donny Craig home run as they defeated Rio Rancho 6-3 to remain 1 1/2 games up on Roswell in the ML Central. Roswell’s Adam Hendricks tossed a complete game five-hitter as the Aliens kept pace with Santa Fe, defeating Colorado Springs 3-0.

Rio Rancho returned the favor on Saturday afternoon as they scored three times in the top of the tenth to defeat Santa Fe 9-6. Meanwhile, Roswell scored twice in the top of the tenth to defeat Colorado Springs 8-6. The Aliens are just 1/2 game back of the Silver Bullets in the ML Central and the Snow Sox lead in the West is just one over St George and three over Flagstaff.

Las Vegas lost to Surprise 10-6 while Long Beach defeated Glendale 4-3. The Surf Dawgs are now just 1 game back of the Nuggets in the DL West and the Saguaros are just a game back of Phoenix in the Central. Las Vegas is the first team to clinch a playoff spot in either league.

Gilbert (86-70) clinched the DL East with a 3-2 victory over Yuma. Hideo Yoshima’s solo home run in the bottom of the eight sealed the victory for the Barnstormers. It was his 13th home run on the season. Surprise defeated Las Vegas 10-3 and combined with a Phoenix 4-1 loss to Goodyear, the teams are tied atop the DL Central with six games left. Las Vegas remains a game ahead to Long Beach, who also lost to Glendale 3-0. Long Beach has also clinched a playoff berth. It looks like the DL Central loser will also grab a Wild Card berth with Salt River holding a slim chance as we head into the final week.

Fort Worth scored three in the eighth and four in the ninth to rally for a 10-4 victory over San Diego to maintain their slim Wild Card lead over St George and Flagstaff. Roswell completed a three game sweep of Colorado Springs with a 12-2 victory on Sunday. The Snow Sox lead in the ML West has all but evaporated as we enter the final week of the season.

      Sure.

Here is the lineup template I use: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...f=true&sd=true

The colors don't seem to translate as well to Google Sheets, the reds in particular. The darkest red on Rxcel comes out slightly paler in Sheets. But I think you can still get the idea. The colors on the left are just straight up the order of each team's 2022 OPS in that spot, the right is me cleaning it up logically to use as my templates.

And here is the, I guess we'll call it player evaluator? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...f=true&sd=true

vRHP assumes a right handed starter (so the hitters will be facing right handed pitching 85% ish of the time that game), vLHP assumes a left handed pitcher (which assumes they'll face a lefty about 66% of the time that game), and Ovr is, Overall (assumes there will be a right handed starter 75% of the time).

        2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/09-06/11

Overall Record:45-21 (1st NL West, 2.5 over Dodgers)

D-Backs streak reaches 11 with sweep of Dodgers

The Arizona Diamondbacks remain undefeated in the month of June after a three game sweep of their division rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. So far in June, Arizona has swept the Nationals, Padres and Dodgers. Another tough test is upcoming as Arizona returns home for a three game set with the AL Central leading Chicago White Sox (46-20).

Of course, LA didnt go down easily. Arizona won the series' games 5-3, 9-3 and 6-4. The third game was tied going into the ninth inning but in that inning, Michael Brantley led off with a double that was followed up by Josh Rojas' 11th homer of the year to give Arizona the 6-4 lead. Edwin Diaz came in and put the Dodger's hitters down in order to collect his 19th save of the season. Aaron Nola failed to be the first pitcher to double digit wins after he gave up the D-Backs early 4-0 lead but still, he managed the no decision and pitched well overall despite a rocky 5th inning that saw three of LA's runs on a Mookie Betts bases loaded double. the wait wont be long for LA to attempt their revenge as the Dodgers and Diamondbacks play again after their now upcoming series.

          September 27-29: FLAGSTAFF (84-75) @ SALT LAKE (73-86)
          Stadium: Deseret Field (Capacity: 6,860)

          September 27: Hops 5, Chukars 3
          September 28: Hops 7, Chukars 6
          September 29: Hops 12, Chukars 3

Salt Lake City, UT (AP) - Flagstaff completed a three game sweep of Salt Lake to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Hops outscored the Chukars 24-12 in the three game series, hitting eight home runs.

The Hops opened their final road trip of the season with a come-from-behind 5-3 victory over Salt Lake. Leandro Lugo had the big blow, a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hop sin front for good. Lugo went 2 for 4 with three RBIs in the victory.

Salt Lake grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI doubles from J.P. Grant and Larry Butler. Rafael Geronimo would homer in the fourth to put the Chukars up 3-1. It was his 11th on the season.

Emmitt Hampton homered in the sixth to cut the lead to one. It was his 18th on the season.

Arturo Mardones led off the eighth with a game-tying solo home run off of Len Rainey. Two batter latter it was Leandro Lugo with a long two-run homer to put the Hops up 5-3.

Vic Miller would come on in the ninth to pick up his 41st save.

Ryan Pressley (12-11) earned the win. It pitched eight solid innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. He struck out four and walked three.

The Hops pulled off another comeback win on Wednesday evening as they pulled out a 7-6 victory over the Chukars to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. Emmitt Hampton hit two home runs including a solo homer in the seventh to give Flagstaff the late lead.

This one started out looking like it would be a slugfest with the game being tied at 6-6 through four innings.

Flagstaff would grab a 2-0 lead in the first thanks to a bases loaded double play groundout by Rodney Millar and an RBI double from Robbie Westbrook. The Chukars responded with a Hills RBI single and Larry Grant RBI double to tie the game.

An RBI double from Art Mason would put the Hops back up in the second. But two home runs from the Chukars in the bottom half would move them back in front, 5-3. Payne hit a solo homer and Pablo Gomes blasted a two-run shot.

Emmitt Hampton would home in the third to cut the lead to 5-4. Arturo Mardones would homer for the fifth straight game in the fourth. The two-run shot was his 25th on the season. But Buster Park would follow that up with a solo homer in the bottom half to once again tie the game up at 6-6.

That setup Hampton to win it in the seventh with his 20th home run on the year.

Vic Miller would pick up his 42nd save as he tight roped through the ninth, stranding two runners.

Sam Herzog (11-7) picked up the win, going six innings and allowing six rins on ten hits. He struck out two and walked one.

The win kept the Hops alive in the Wild Card race and divisional race with four games remaining in the season.

The finale was all Hops as they pounded out 19 hits in a 12-3 victory. Art Mason led the way, going 4 for 6 with two doubles and a triple, scoring three times.

Flagstaff (84-75) scored four times in the top of the first and never looked back as they cruised to victory. Red-hot Leandro Lugo homered again, and drove in four more runs. The Hops scored runs in six of the nine innings to complete the sweep and win the season series (11-8) over the Chukars.

John Benitez (5-7) picked up the win, pitching six innings and allowing two run son seven hits. Alex Spanos and Samuel Espinoza both got some work out of the bullpen.

The Hops will now travel to Colorado Springs (87-72) to close out the regular season. Flagstaff will need a sweep to force a one game playoff for the ML West title. They also trail Fort Worth by three games in the Wild Card chase. The Kings (87-72) will travel to West Texas (77-82) to finish off their season. They are three games back of San Antonio in the ML East.

Around the League: Surprise defeated Phoenix 7-3 to take over first place in the DL Central. Las Vegas lost 8-5 to San Diego and Long Beach defeated Henderson 10-6 so the Nuggets and Surf Dawgs are now tied atop the DL West.

Fort Worth defeated Amarillo 4-3 to move the Hops one game closer to elimination. San Antonio clinched the first ML playoff birth with a 7-1 victory over West Texas. Their magic number is one to clinch the ML East.

Roswell defeated Rio Rancho 10-5, while Santa Fe defeated Albuquerque 5-2 with both of those teams tied atop the ML Central.

The Phoenix Firebirds rebounded on Wednesday evening as they defeated Surprise 7-6 in 12 innings. Darren McCarty’s solo home run in the 12th was the difference as the Firebirds are now tied atop the DL Central with the Saguaros.

Colorado Springs defeated St. George 6-5 to move three games clear of the Archers in the ML West.

Las Vegas scored three times in the bottom of the ninth to walk it off and defeat San Diego 4-3 to move one game up on Long Beach in the DL West. Those two teams will meet in the final series of the year in Las Vegas. Enrique Lima was the hero for the Nuggets, hitting a three-run home run to walk it off. It was his 16th on the season.

Colorado Springs completed the sweep of St George with a 5-2 victory. With the loss, the Archers were eliminated from both the division race and the Wild Card.

Played the first two seasons on Competitive, but decided to switch to Simulation for season three. I'm curious to see how much, if any, difference there is.

The Mets took two of three from us to start 2023. Top of the lineup with Acuna, Albies and Freeman are off to cold starts. Rodon makes his Braves debut in the first of a three-game series at Miami before we head home for our home opener.

Padres, Dodgers, Cardinals, Cubs and Reds are all undefeated after the first series of the year.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

I've reached the end of June, which also coincides with the halfway point of the season. The Nationals took two of three from the lowly Pirates, but still can't seem to find a way to sweep anyone. They finish the first half with a record of 29-53, making them last in the NL East. I feel like this is a good point to sum up what's going on around the league.

The standings aren't too surprising, except for the AL Central.

              AL East
              Rays 47-33
              Yankees 45-38
              Orioles 42-41
              Blue Jays 39-42
              Red Sox 37-44

              AL Central
              Twins 46-36
              Tigers 39-43
              Royals 38-42
              White Sox 37-44
              Guardians 35-46

              AL West
              Mariners 49-33
              Astros 46-34
              Angels 42-40
              Rangers 34-47
              Athletics 28-54

              NL East
              Braves 51-30
              Phillies 47-34
              Mets 42-39
              Marlins 40-41
              Nationals 29-53

              NL Central
              Cardinals 55-27
              Brewers 45-37
              Cubs 34-46
              Reds 27-53
              Pirates 25-56

              NL West
              Dodgers 58-22
              Padres 53-29
              Giants 40-40
              Diamondbacks 38-43
              Rockies 30-51

In terms of awards, Shohei Ohtani leads the AL MVP race with a .282/20 HR/52 RBI line. He is currently second in the Cy Young race as well (9-3, 2.11 ERA and 72 Ks). Luis Severino leads the Cy Young candidates with a record of 13-2, an ERA of 2.11 and 72 Ks. On the National League side, Paul Goldschmidt is the front runner for MVP (.342/22/63) and Corbin Burnes leads the Cy Young race (9-0/1.58/121).

In terms of Rookie of the Year, Jose Miranda leads the AL (.288/19/42) and Heliot Ramos leads the NL (.284/13/36).

There's still a few weeks to go before the All Star Break and the Trade Deadline, and I haven't seen any major trades so far. I believe the biggest trade thus far was between the Rangers and Marlins, where Nick Solak went to Miami in exchange for Jon Berti.

And speaking of the Marlins, they are coming to DC for four games to start the month of July. The Nationals will then travel to Philadelphia and Atlanta for some tough divisional series.

              The grind continues...

                2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/13-06/15

Overall Record:47-22 (1st NL West) 3.5 over LA Dodgers

D-Backs streak comes to an end

The Arizona Diamondbacks winning streak stopped at 11 games after a 4-2 loss in their first game against the Chicago Whitesox. Lucas Giolito was masterful for Chicago through most of his start but did end up giving up six hits and two runs in the end. Those runs werent enough for Arizona to overcome home runs by Austin Meadows and Andrew Vaughn however and their perfect June was gone.

Arizona did however come back to win the series, winning game two 3-1 and game three 8-1. Daulton Varsho homered in both of the last two games and a Corbin Carroll home run gave Arizona the lead that they would not relinquish in game two.

Arizona will stay at home to face off against the Dodgers yet again as they try to extend their NL West lead.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

It's been a while since I posted an update as I've been just playing along and getting lost in my franchise during the difficult holiday season after the recent passing of my Dad.

I have completed the 2025 season and the conclusion to our season hurt so much considering how successful we were. We finished the season with 104 wins and dominated the NL Central winning by 20+ games. We had the best record in the National League. But our season would end at the hands of the defending World Series Champion Padres who beat the Phillies in the Wild Card round. The Padres won 98 games this year and limped into the playoffs with injuries. But wouldn't you know, those guys would get healthy during our 5 game dramatic NLDS series. We lost in 5 games after blowing leads in Game 2 and Game 5 late in the game.

The Padres would go on to repeat as World Series Champions defeating the Mariners in 5 games. I have played 4 full seasons and the White Sox went back to back in '22 and '23 and now the Padres have gone back to back in '24 and '25.

The upcoming offseason will see a lot of major decisions being made by us. Nolan Arenado has a $32.5M team option and has struggled with injuries and performance recently. Our bullpen depth needs to be addressed as does starting pitching. We have Tyler O'Neill becoming a free agent and the likes of Joshua Baez pushing for playing time on the big league roster. So much to figure out during the winter as we look to get to October in 2026 and passed the damn NLDS.

Here's the video for the 2025 season wrap-up for anyone who's interested

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ru5a5YRBdhc" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'm going to try to stay more engaged in the write ups of my franchise as I enjoy it and at this point of life, with all that's happening, I need it.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                    Cardinals re-sign Tyler O'Neill to a 5 year deal

                    The Cardinals have re-signed Tyler O'Neill to a 5 year $80MM deal.

O'Neill had a good 2025 season hitting .249 with 29 homeruns and 78 RBI's despite missing more than a month of the season.

With O'Neill signed to actually a team friendly deal, the Cardinals now have the option to keep Bader as they were concerned about having too much tied up in the outfield. O'Neill, Bader, and Dylan Carlson will be the expected starting outfield this season for the Cardinals with depth being important considering the injured prone Bader and O'Neill.

Cardinals decline Nolan Arenado's club option

Not surprising from within the organization, the Cardinals have declined Nolan Arenado's $32.5 team option for the 2026 season.

Arenado who played in 99 games in 2022, 4 games in 2023 before staying healthy the past two years has seen his production decline at the plate. Arenado hit .244 last year with 31 homeruns and 82 RBI's which is good from a power standpoint, but his strikeout numbers continue to rise. Arenado hit just .230 last year in a full season.

The Cardinals are of the mindset that they want the 34 year old to return to St.Louis but couldn't justify paying him that type of money considering his recent injuries and declining production. If they don't get Arenado to re-sign, it will be interesting to see what the Cardinals do for 3rd base, as its expected Nolan Gorman will move to first base this season like last year, where he played the position after injury at the Triple A level in Memphis.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

We're five games into the new season and I'm already tinkering with my roster. The computer teams updated their trade blocks, so I made some inquiries and decided to make a few deals.

The Rockies put Sam Hilliard on the block. He signed with the Braves in real life, and he made sense for my Braves as well. When the Rockies asked for Roman Quinn in return, I pulled the trigger. Hilliard gives me a better left-handed bat for the bench and can back up all three OF positions.

Michael Chavis was also on the block. He's an Atlanta native who can play first, second, third and the corner OF positions. Trey Mancini was never our first choice in free agency as a right-handed bat on the bench, so we asked about Chavis. The Red Sox wanted center fielder Gabriel Maciel, who is at Gwinnett, in addition to Mancini. They also insisted we take back Jackie Bradley Jr. (in AAA) to offset some of Mancini's $5M salary. We were good with that.

Chavis gives us a more versatile player for the bench and we think a better right-handed bat. Mancini takes over as Boston's every day first baseman. He'll go down as the Braves all-time leader in batting average, since he was 3-for-3 as a pinch-hitter. We'll look to flip Bradley Jr.

Cardinals re-sign Genesis Cabrera to a 4 year deal

The Cardinals and LHP Genesis Cabrera have agreed to a 4 year $58MM deal with a player option for the final year.

the 29 year old dealt with injuries last year but he still pitched 38 innings recording 36 strikeouts with 19 holds and pitched to a 2.84 ERA.

Cabrera will likely again be the 8th/late inning left handed option to get the ball to closer Giovanny Gallegos.

This is a big re-signing for the Cards as they look to bolster not only their bullpen but their entire pitching staff.

Cardinals sign RHP Matt Barnes to one year deal

The Cardinals have agreed to a one year $8M deal with RHP Matt Barnes.

The 35 year old pitched with the Red Sox last year and had a good season with 59.2 IP and a 3.02 ERA. His WHIP was 0.96 and he struck out 77 hitters in his 59.2 innings of work.

Barnes is the newest addition to the Cardinals pitching staff as they continue to work this offseason to improve their pitching staff overall. Thus far the bullpen is:

                              LHP Genesis Cabrera
                              LHP Daniel Norris
                              RHP Jordan Hicks
                              RHP Diego Castillo
                              RHP Matt Barnes
                              Closer Giovanny Gallegos

The Cardinals have offers to Ryan Helsley and Alex Reyes in hopes they re-sign.

The Cardinals are expected to continue to try and build depth this winter for their pitching staff.

We swept the Marlins to move back into first place in the East at 4-2. Phillies and Mets are both 3-3.

Cardinals, Dodgers and Red Sox are all still undefeated at 6-0. Rockies are still searching for their first win at 0-7.

Got to use Chavis as a pinch-hitter. Love his stance in the game. Glad I made that trade. Mancini hit a two-run homer in his Red Sox debut, so Boston is happy too.
