Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

The 2022 Red Sox are two series deep into their quest for the trophy. Although trading away Jeter Downs (blocked for the foreseeable future) and Jarren Duran (see return) hurts, getting Bryan Reynolds and David Bednar from the Pirates turns the Sox into legitimate threats in the loaded AL East.

Rotation - Sale, Eovaldi, Houck, Paxton, Pivetta
Bullpen - Whitlock, Barnes, Hill, Brasier, Taylor, Diekman, Strahm, Bednar
    C-Vazquez, Plawecki
    1B- Dalbec, Casas
    2B - Story
    3B - Devers
    SS- Bogey
    LF - Verdugo-
    CF - Kike
    RF - Reynolds
    DH - JD
    Arroyo, JBJ bench

In the first 6 games I have faced.....5 lefties. Luckily for Boston the lineup is geared towards lefties. Dalbec is off to a hot start with 3 homers, while prized prospect Casas is waiting for a string of righties. Losing the opener and then taking 2 straight from Tampa before sweeping Baltimore. Sale has looked great even though he had a tough luck loss in game 1. Pivetta struggled but the offense helped him out. Next up are the Yankees. Already looking forward to playing all 162 while being excited about the young talent for year 5 (what I sim to after year 1)

Love the new score ticker news but not sure if it's just me or others have noticed. I seem to get the same repeat news. Pitcher threw 11 K's or batter got 5 RBI's or went 5 for 5. Saw it in all 3 games I played last night on the ticker.

I've seen those, but have also seen different news events as well.

It's been a couple of days since I last played where I lost to extend my losing streak to 4 games. Now 3-4 on the season, I'm about to hop on and play at least two more games and finish this series versus the Pirates. It's time to get back in the win column tonight boys.

              San Diego Padres
Game 14: (10-3) Atlanta Braves @ San Diego Padres (7-6)
              Huascar Ynoa vs Joe Musgrove
Atlanta has the 2nd best record behind The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and they were looking to continue the torrid pace. As for San Diego. Machado got a much needed day of rest, unfortunately, no Machado, No Tatis, no offense. Luke Voit although impressive with a towering 9th inning homerun to the roof of The Western Metal Supply building, there was very little offense anywhere else for The Friars. Atlanta wins their 6th in a row 4-1.

Harold Castro Heads to 60 Day IL

Wow, I don't know what Tigers players are doing this day, or maybe it's the training staff, but Castro has now suffered the second fractured shin of the season for the Tigers. He injured it diving for a ball going into the outfieldiin the rubber match against the Red Sox. Like Reyes, he will be headed to the 60 Day IL. A bummer for Castro as he was our best Pinch Hitter, and his contact/OBP will be missed for the next 2 months.

                  Tigers(10-3) take 2-3 from Sox(4-8), finish homestand .500

Detroit stays buzzing after a successful homestand that left them sitting at 10-3 and in the lead of the central 2 full weeks into the season. It was a back and forth affair, but the bats woke up a tad for this series and it definitely was appreciated.

Game 1- Rodriguez and Pivetta exchange blows through 6 and 5 innings respectfully, but ultimately back to back homers by Candelario and Barnhart led to a 6-4 Tigers win in Game 1.

Game 2- Rain rain go away. Literally. After a 90 min rain delay before the 3rd inning got underway, Turnbull was pulled for the second straight start with a rain delay(Never seen that before). Lange came in and threw one pitch and is now day to day with a pulled groin. So that led to the Tigers using a mix of 4 different pitchers over 7 innings to get to the finish. Sale came out and kept dealing after the break, but it did take a toll as a Miggy single and a Baez homer knocked him out of the game. It would not be enough however as Bobby Dalbec would SMOKE a no doubt homer against Fulmer to all but seal it up. 7-5 BOS

Game 3- Pineda kept his hot streak up, despite giving up a leadoff double and 1 in the first, he buckled down and got through 6 with that lone run. 9 hits however though. This was a offensive showcase, with 12 hits for the Red Sox, and 14 for the Tigers. But as was the case the majority of the series, the Tigers capatilized on their baserunners, and the Red Sox left them out there(All 3 games had at least 9 LOB). Javy Baez was masterful once again, with a 2 homer 4 RBI perfomance, as man he is HOT(3 HR 8 RBI in series, hitting .367 at the moment). Can you say MVP? At least a contender 2 weeks in, which we all know is a tell tale sign! 10-3 DET

Anyways, the Tigers now head to the Midwest, to take on KC, another team at 4-8, in a quick four game road trip. A corresponding move was made after the 3rd game as well to bring up Isaac Parades to join the club from Toledo as the need for an utility infielder was created.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Blue Jays are plugging away through spring training trying to iron out their roster for a very important 2022 season.

The team made two minor league moves half way through spring, signing OF Brian Goodwin and RP Ryan Buchter. Goodwin will compete for a bench OF role and brings another left handed bat to the mix, while Buchter adds another experienced lefty out of the pen. Saucedo hasn’t had the greatest spring so far and the Jays lefty depth is limited to Mayza and Borucki.

The 26 man roster is set for the most part but there are a few bench spots available and the bullpen is still up in the air. So far the roster is as follows:

                      Batting:
                      Springer
                      Bichette
                      Guerrero Jr
                      Hernandez
                      Gurriel Jr
                      Chapman
                      Tapia
                      Jansen
                      Biggio
                      Espinal
                      Kirk

                      Pitching:
                      Berrios
                      Gausman
                      Manoah
                      Ryu
                      Kikuchi
                      Stripling
                      Romano
                      Mayza
                      Richards
                      Cimber
                      Merryweather
                      Garcia

That leaves two open bench spots and one open bullpen role that is being auditioned for currently.

                      Players Competing:
                      Fowler
                      Goodwin
                      Fuentes
                      Collins
                      Katoh
                      Lopez
                      Palacios

                      Borucki
                      Buchter
                      Francis
                      Pearson
                      Phelps
                      Thornton
                      Castro

It is rumoured that the Jays will bring in another player who can handle 1B via trade or free agency to add to the competition for the final roster spots. Behind Vlad, there are a few players who can handle 1B on a rest day but the depth is limited. Rumour has it the Jays are scouting Piscotty / Thames from Oakland and Evan White from Seattle. Time will tell if they make another move in spring training.

                        Schedules still don't rotate.

Next year MLB announced that they are completely overhauling the scheduling format so that each team will play at least one series against every team in the league, so it looks like rotating schedules wont be necessary in the future anyway

The team made two minor league moves half way through spring, signing OF Brian Goodwin and RP Ryan Buchter. Goodwin will compete for a bench OF role and brings another left handed bat to the mix, while Buchter adds another experienced lefty out of the pen. Saucedo hasn’t had the greatest spring so far and the Jays lefty depth is limited to Mayza and Borucki.

The 26 man roster is set for the most part but there are a few bench spots available and the bullpen is still up in the air. So far the roster is as follows:

                          Batting:
                          Springer
                          Bichette
                          Guerrero Jr
                          Hernandez
                          Gurriel Jr
                          Chapman
                          Tapia
                          Jansen
                          Biggio
                          Espinal
                          Kirk

                          Pitching:
                          Berrios
                          Gausman
                          Manoah
                          Ryu
                          Kikuchi
                          Stripling
                          Romano
                          Mayza
                          Richards
                          Cimber
                          Merryweather
                          Garcia

That leaves two open bench spots and one open bullpen role that is being auditioned for currently.

                          Players Competing:
                          Fowler
                          Goodwin
                          Fuentes
                          Collins
                          Katoh
                          Lopez
                          Palacios

                          Borucki
                          Buchter
                          Francis
                          Pearson
                          Phelps
                          Thornton
                          Castro

It is rumoured that the Jays will bring in another player who can handle 1B via trade or free agency to add to the competition for the final roster spots. Behind Vlad, there are a few players who can handle 1B on a rest day but the depth is limited. Rumour has it the Jays are scouting Piscotty / Thames from Oakland and Evan White from Seattle. Time will tell if they make another move in spring training.

No love for Kay? He made the opening day roster for me out of spring.

As for position players. I traded Mcguire for Collins and Mendick. Springer and Biggio are both out 1-2 months. I’m struggling mightily with Vlad only batting .200

Well if that’s the case we are screwed.

Sorry! Forgot about Kay as I posted this at work without my roster in front of me! Yea, I like him but he has been knocked around a little this spring. I see him more as a long man and I like stripping, Pearson and Thornton a little more so far based off the week of games I’ve played.

Sorry to hear! You might have to look into getting an OF. Goodwin has been pretty good so far in limited spring action for me. Hit a homer his first game. Would be a platoon option. Espinal can handle 2 while Biggio is out.
