Sorry to hear! You might have to look into getting an OF. Goodwin has been pretty good so far in limited spring action for me. Hit a homer his first game. Would be a platoon option. Espinal can handle 2 while Biggio is out.

Yes. Espinal is a decent replacement. Surprisingly Tampia and Fowler have been playing well. I’m struggling to come up with a plan for a backup 1B while Biggio is out. I don’t want to use Chapman over there, so I have collins taking that spot, but he doesn’t have a great bat.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

After two "false starts" with my franchise (one with Oakland and another with Cincy) I finally settled on my franchise team for this game: the New York Mets.

I dismissed them pre-launch because I thought they'd be "too good". But once I dug into them in-game, they're actually an interesting franchise team.

While they certainly have talent, they're in a tough spot in a lot of ways....

      - Tough division
      - They are relatively old with few top-end prospects
      - They are massively over-budget in year 1 and have several clunker contracts. This is going to hamstring our efforts to improve in-season. Year 2 is a bit better but with Alonso due for a big bump in arbitration, finances are still going to be touch-and-go.
      - The lineup has some pop but a lot of lower vision guys - which is going to lead to inconsistency.
      - No true ELITE hitter. There is no one I'd feel comfortable sliding into the 3-hole. (this is actually going to be a fun story arc to follow)
      - OK bullpen

We're basically a team in a "win-now" mode and I am not confident we have the horses to do so. We HAVE to stay healthy and I need DeGrom/Scherzer to really dominate. On offense, we'll need to develop consistency and not be dependent on big blasts by Alonso and company.

First two games (vs the Nats) under our belts; both low-scoring games which were a split. We'll play game 3 and then move onto a series vs the very tough Braves.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I thought about the Mets as well and passed for the same reason you stated. Maybe I’ll have to take a second look.

Fun team here that seems well balanced in terms of power, hitting and defense. Will provide an update after I play Opening Day. Lineup looks like this.

          Opening Day, March 31st 2022

Minnesota Twins (0-0) @ Chicago White Sox (0-0)

The Twins traveled to the South Side of Chicago to battle division rival White Sox on opening day in the MLB. Twins fans are optimistic to challenge the Sox for the AL Central crown this season so all eyes were on this game. Specifically, new signing Carlos Correa, and to see if star CF Byron Buxton can take that next step to superstardom.

The first 5 innings were all about pitching, though. Opening day starter Sonny Gray showed that Twins fans can have faith in him to anchor the rotation. He didn’t give up a hit until the 5th inning, and finished the day pitching 7 full, 4 hits, no walks and 6 strikeouts with 0 ER. He put on a pitching CLINIC today and the Sox could barely touch him.

It wasn’t all good for the Twins at the start of the game. Lance Lynn of the Sox had then looking foolish through the first 5 innings , racking up 3 strikeouts and holding the Twins to 1 hit.

Then, the top of the 6th came and the Twins found their bats. A hit by lead off man Byron Buxton (who was 0-2 with 2 strikeouts at this point) , followed by a single from Luis Arraez brought Jorge Polanco to the plate who proceeded to stroke a 2 run single to center to give the Twins their first points of the season.

Gio Urshela hit the first Twins HR of the season in the 8th, and the Buxton got his second hit of the game in the 9th to bring in Jake Cave for a score after he walked.

Taylor Rogers came into the game in the bottom of the 9th and shut the door on any Sox comeback to secure the win for the Twins on Opening Day!

          Buxton: 2-4 , 1 RBI
          Jorge Polanco: 2-4, 2 RBI
          Gio Urshela: 2-4, 1 HR
          Carlos Correa: 0-4

          Sonny Gray: 7 IP, 4H, 6SO

Will be back for an update after the conclusion of the Sox series !

Not sure if anyone has answered your question yet, but in the Red Sox franchise that I started on the early release, I've stacked my team with both superstars as well as many of the league's top prospects.

I'm actually considering doing a Red Sox franchise dynasty update if anyone would be interested. I'm only three days into spring training, but I've kept track of everything I've done so far.

Not a great workaround, but you could always lower the hitting difficulty for minor league games. Or, something that I absolutely cannot do, be more patient as a hitter. Worse pitchers won't have the same level of control so they will be more wild and then have to groove a pitch down the middle. The PCI anchor helps me in that regards; I lock it into one area and don't move it until I have two strikes on me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses excel for keeping track of my franchise. Immensely helpful when trying to evaluate a trade, or track which players from each team I can get for the same players from my squad.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just finished the first series of the season, split 2-2 w/ SF. Should have won 3 but my BP blew a game late. To start with bad news, Mike Clevinger was pitching a gem allowing 2 hits through 7 1/3 innings when he had to leave a game with a hand injury. He is now out 1-2 months. Luckily we have a lot of depth to use. Nick Martinez will look to slide into Clevingers spot in the rotation and Craig Stammen was recalled to fill the open spot in the bullpen.

Tatis is off to a scorching start hitting .346 with 2 HRS through the first 4 games. Luke Voit and Brent Rooker both went deep last game for their first HR's of the year.

Jake Cronenworth is struggling hitting only .200 to start, Wil Myers is also off to a slow start to the year.

Our bullpen has been shaky for the most part, sans Pierce Johnson, Tim Hill and Taylor Rogers.

Next up, a short 2 game series vs the Rockies who are 0-4 to start the year.

2 days left in april. Houser era in the 4s. Kelenic is struggling hit just above .200. Brewers in 3rd Seattle in first.

ya thats a head scratcher. Ive had some questionable trades happen in mine but when i look at the timing of them and the stats of the teams and players involved it kind of made a bit of sense

Finally finished with my roster changes and ready to start my FANTASY DRAFT! I'm gonna do a 30 team draft (so I'll be drafting for everyone) using mostly recommended pick for CPU teams and limiting myself to a certain number of A, B and C potential players. I also make it so I half my total roster is at least 27 yrs old and older.

Will update tomorrow how the draft goes.

                                Wish me luck!!!
