I go by what is happening in my franchise.

My franchise is my own universe separate from real life. It’s why honestly I was glad the rosters weren’t a 100% up to date because it allowed me to place free agents where I wanted based off my own thoughts and for entertainment purposes.

In my franchise the A’s and Reds didn’t do fire sales. Freeman returned to the Braves, Rizzo returned to the Cubs, Correa went back to Houston and so on.

Very excited to see how season plays out and for the first offseason as some of these guys I did one year deals since you can’t do opt outs

Cardinals designate Ljay Newsome for assignment, select Nick Dunn

The Cardinals have designated RHP Ljay Newsome for assignment and have selected the contract of Nick Dunn from Memphis.

Newsome has struggled this spring. In 4 games of work, and 11 innings, he's pitched to a tune of a 8.96 ERA with a WHIP over 2. He has allowed 5 homeruns in those 11 innings.

2B Nick Dunn was selected from Memphis and will join the team at big league camp in Florida. The 26 year old will get some at-bats here over the course of the final few games of Spring. Its highly unlikely that Dunn makes the big league roster, but could serve a viable option sometime this season should injuries/performance dictate that he be called upon.

Cardinals finish Spring with 15-13 record

Spring Training 2022 has come and gone as the Cardinals finished with a win over the Astros to finish the exhibition season 15-13.

The best thing is that the Cardinals are healthy heading into Opening Day.

Not too many surprises but the Cardinals did keep Anderson Tejeda over Branden Donovan and elected to keep LHP Brandon Waddell instead of LHP Kyle Ryan. It was thought that Waddell would be the top rotational piece at Memphis.

Other than that, its pretty status quo as to what you would expect.

Here is the 26 man Opening Day Roster:

          C - Yadier Molina
          1B - Paul Goldschmidt
          2B - Tommy Edman
          SS - Paul DeJong
          3B - Nolan Arenado
          LF - Tyler O'Neill
          CF - Harrison Bader
          RF - Dylan Carlson

          C - Andrew Knizner
          IF - Anderson Tejeda
          IF - Edmundo Sosa
          OF - Lars Nootbar
          OF - Justin Toerner

          SP - Jack Flaherty
          SP - Adam Wainwright
          SP - Steven Matz
          SP - Miles Mikolas
          SP - Dakota Hudson

          RP - Brandon Waddell
          RP- Jordan Hicks
          RP - Kodi Whitley
          RP - Genesis Cabrera
          RP - T.J. McFarland
          RP - Ryan Helsley
          RP - Alex Reyes
          CP - Giovanny Gallegos

The Cardinals will open the 2022 season on the road against the Pirates for 3 games and then head to Wrigley for 2 against the Cubs.

Since I'm not doing the universal DH I have no need for Pujols.

                      Speaking of upset.

I was going through lineups/rotations just to see who was on mlb roster and who wasn’t and noticed that when I went back to redo my roster due to going to traditional DH rules I failed to add Freeman, Duffy, Castellanos and a couple others to teams……

I’m so damn frustrated. Guess it’s what I get for doing it wee hours of morning and hastily because I wanted to get started. Guess I’ll try this again. Sigh……

The good news is that I hadn’t started regular season. Silver linings I guess

                      Damn

I take it you don't have Drew VerHagen and Aaron Brooks in your team because they are not in the game?? Nick Martiniz would be missing being in japan last year

In my franchise the A’s and Reds didn’t do fire sales. Freeman returned to the Braves, Rizzo returned to the Cubs, Correa went back to Houston and so on.
Oooohhh...this is tempting. I'm guessing we'll get a Day 1 roster update when the online services go live that will take care of a lot of those transactions. But the ability to immediately shake-up the feel of the league right away is still just as tempting now as it was when the lockout was still going on.

But the ability to immediately shake-up the feel of the league right away is still just as tempting now as it was when the lockout was still going on.
Yeah I think I will go with the updated roster, but if the base roster does still have all those players in free agency, then I will at least save it in case I decide to go back and rewrite history
