Cardinals drop 2 of 3 to Pirates
The Cardinals (24-23) dropped 2 games of a 3 game weekend series with the Pirates in Pittsburgh. The Cardinals are now 4 games behind the Cubs in the NL Central.
The Cardinals were shutout Friday night and Sunday afternoon, totalling 6 hits in the 2 games. On Saturday they recorded 11 hits that produced 9 runs. Unfortunately for the 2nd start in a row, Jack Flaherty left with the lead only to get a no decision as the bullpen couldn't hang on.
The Cardinals will head home for a 10 game homestand starting Monday with the Blue Jays.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Now that the new roster update is out, do people plan on starting their franchises over? I’ve got a lot of free time today and want to play a lot of franchise . Just don’t know if I want to stick with the Twins or start anew

Why did they get rid of the count down of things to do, like 44 days til draft and other things. They dedicated a whole stream to a couple of years backComment

Cubs 2022 Season
September/OCT (85-77):
The Cubs gave it everything they had in the last month of the season by posting their best monthly record of the whole season going 18-10, but they finished 4GB of the division winning Brewers (89-73) and they fought until the very end for the Wild Card race which opened up with a struggling Braves team, but it was also to little to late as the Braves (87-75) grabbed the last WC spot and finished 2 games better than the Cubs.
Manager David Ross was proud of his team this year, he said they defied expectations and can only look ahead “It is a tough one to swallow, being so close and missing out. Lets not take that away from what we accomplished and that was playing damn good baseball.”
The pitching staff and lineup both got hot at the right time and it showed the team had a lot of heart and grit this season, especially when many expected a below .500 Cubs team. This club fought until the very last game of the season, and had the fanbase feeling refreshed and energized seeing a lot of the young talent on the team.
MLB 2022 World Series: LAD(4) VS HOU (0)
Season in Review/Offseason Outlook:
The Cubs enter the offseason with a few questions, with most important being what happens to longtime Cubs Willy Contreras, who in his contract year had his best year as a pro (.267/.332/30HR/95RBI) and will be looking to command a pretty big payday, the Cubs elected not to deal him at the deadline.
The Cubs likely will eat the remaining 22 million on the last year of J.Heyward’s contract as he really has no place on this roster next year with the young promising outfield the Cubs are hoping to employ, including the arrival of top prospect Brennen Davis, who missed nearly all of 2022 with injury.
The bullpen is an area of concern that the Cubs will likely address in the free agent market. The Cubs will likely have to fill 1 rotation spot with the departure of Miley, it seems as if rookie C.Kilian has secured a spot in the rotation next year with his short but successful debut in the bigs. That leaves the Cubs at 4 (Stro, Hendricks, Alzolay, Kilian) heading into the offseason.
The Cubs look secure in the OF, and if they do look for a bat in free agency its likely to be a corner infielder, as Schwindel (.251AVG/.293OBP) struggled last year, and Wisdom (.225AVG/.297OBP) was not much better. Wisdom still generates power 26HR in 373AB’s and Schwindel had 76RBI’s but the Cubs would like more consistency from those spots.
The Cubs will also have to solve the behind the dish issue if Willy does leave, Yan Gomes is under contract for next year, and performed really well for the Cubs last year (.264AVG,14HR,44RBI), and he may be the internal answer the Cubs were hoping for, but hes 35, and they could look to add some more depth there.Comment

Lost a close one this morning to the Mets, took 11 innings, 1-0.
Decided to manage a full game with the next one, right now I’m at the bottom of the third, and I really like that option. Sometimes I get a bit in my head and just can’t hit to save my life. I might go back and forth every few games

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Edit: After further inspection, he hits in games that are simmed. But, when you actually play the games against the Angels, he doesn’t DH. Whoever they have set in their lineups as DH does. Is there any way to fix this, other than 30 team control? Because I really don’t want to bother with that.Last edited by bronxbombers21325; 04-16-2022, 12:50 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
So I went back to some of my older franchises I had started, from the day 1 roster update, and he was being used correctly. He was DH every game he wasn’t pitching. However with the new live roster, he apparently never hits, only pitches. *♂️

When the game starts go to the team select and move that controller to the middle so that the CPU takes control of the Angels.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
What you could try is when you play the Angels and want him to DH the same as he does in simmed games is play with 2 controllers connected and then set the Angels lineup, adding him as the DH.

San Diego Padres: New Faces, Same Results
Game 27: (11-15) San Diego Padres @ Pittsburgh Pirates (12-14)
Mike Clevinger vs J.T. Brubaker
The Padres looked like they had found the cure in Pittsburgh for the 6 game losing streak, and were going to runaway with this game early. 3 hits in the first and 1 run. Then nothing for 7 more innings from either side. Mike Clevinger pitched a gem through 7, then newly called up Ian Krol did what is starting to look like a requirement for Padre relievers. He gave up 2 hits and 1 run to tie the game at 1 in the bottom of the 8th. The Padres looked to right the ship in the 9th. Grisham was hit by a pitch and quickly stole 2nd. Machado hit a single to get runners on the corners with no outs, but a double play to short by Jake Cronenworth and an infield pop up by Luke Voit kept it tied at 1. Pittsburgh however on the other side of the Sprectum got a single by Hayes with 1 out, who was then bunted over to 2nd by Ben Gamel. Bryan Reynolds then came up to the plate and San Diego actually pitched to him! Bad decision...A double to walk it off for Pittsburgh and a 7th straight loos for The Friars. San Diego have now lost 7 straight and 5 of those the starting pitcher left with the lead or a tie.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Ok I restarted one more time loaded a roster without Cano and Marquez (cubs prospect)
Cubs win opening day 8-4. Hendricks was scratched during warm up with a pulled muscle. Cubs went with Smyly to replace he went 4 innings allowed 3 runs. Seiya Suzuki hit 2 home runs and had 5RBI in his major league debut. Top prospect Brennan Davis had an infield single for his first hit. Madrigal went 3-5 in his cubs debut.Comment
