I’m still playing 21, but if there aren’t any objections I may move my franchise reports here since the 21 thread has pretty much run its course.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
2022 Arizona Diamondbacks 04/25-04/27
Overall Record (17-8) (1st NL West)
Diamondbacks win series VS. Dodgers, take over division lead
The Diamondbacks finally overtook the Giants as both teams continue to surprise the baseball world early on in the season. With one series left in April, the Diamondbacks and Giants sit atop the NL West as the division and league powerhouses, San Diego and Los Angeles are bringing up the rear.
In game one against the Dodgers, Trea Turner led off with a first at bat, first pitch homer to give LA the early lead 1-0. The game would stay at that score until Gavin Lux hit a single in the third inning. That single would be followed up by Trea's second RBI of the game as he hit a double of his own, knocking Lux in. A Mookie Betts single would knock Turner in and quickly. the Dodgers took a 3-0 lead.
David Peralta got one of those runs back as he hit a solo homer in the bottom of the third (99th of his career) to bring the score to 3-1. The Diamondbacks would take over in the middle innings as two runs were scored in the 5th to bring the score even at 3-3. Two more in the 6th brought the D-Backs in the lead 5-3.
LA would continue to fight until the end as they were able to get a run off Mark Melancon but he would be able to hold off the rally for a 5-4 victory.
Arizona's winning streak would come to an end in the second game of the series with LA winning 6-3. That would be followed up with a series clinching victory for the D-Backs as they won 4-3 in game three.
(forgot to save my notes for games 2 and 3).
Arizona would head to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals (13-11) to end the month of April.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Cardinals are swept by Rays in Tampa
The Cardinals (33-31) were swept in a 3 game series with the Rays in Tampa. The Cardinals now lead the Cubs by just a single game in the NL Central Division.
Jack Flaherty got the ball on Tuesday, but had one of his worst outings of the year going just 5 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits (2 homeruns and 2 doubles) with 4 walks to only 2 strikeouts. The poor outing would earn Flaherty his first loss of the season (8-1). Albert Pujols made his Cardinals debut on Tuesday night going 1 for 3 with a walk, a RBI single and 2 strikeouts.
Adam Wainwright took the ball on Wednesday and despite being hit hard, he last 6 innings but ended up with a no decision. Ryan Helsley would earn the win coming into the game in the 7th, after in the top of the 8th, the Cardinals offense exploded for 7 runs to blow open the game after being down 4-3 to being up 10-4 when all was said and done. Helsley would pitch all but the last out after giving up back to back walks. Nick Wittgren would get the final out.
Thursday afternoon, T.J. Zeuch pitched a phenomenal game but earned a loss as the Cardinals were blanked 1-0. Tough to take for Zeuch who is trying to prove that he can maintain a spot in the big league rotation as the trade deadline/season approaches. Pitching is the primary area that the Cards look to be focusing on.
The Cardinals will return home for a 3 game series with the red hot Reds. The Reds have won 7 straight and only trail in the division by 5 games.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
We're in May of 2022. Spoilers for length.
Quick recap from 2021:
Spoiler
We rallied from down 3-1 to beat the Dodgers in the NLCS, then took out the Yankees in 5 to win the World Series. Ozzie Albies was the WS MVP.
Joc Pederson and Diego Castillo were our major trade acquisitions. Joc was a beast, winning NLCS MVP honors. We re-signed him for one year at $19.5M. We also brought back Freddie Freeman, giving him the six-year deal he was looking for. Pretty much all the main contributors are back for the title defense.
We're off to a hot start at 32-9. But we've played a bunch of games against the Giants, Reds and Pirates - the three worst teams in the NL. At this point, the Padres, who added Michael Conforto in the offseason, are probably the biggest threat. We've already completed the season series against them, going 4-3.
Joc got off to a terrible start, but a trip to Coors seems to have helped. He raised his average from .160 to .219 and now has six homers after belting four there over the weekend.
I've been an impatient GM, not waiting until July to make moves. May has been a busy month.
Trades we've made:
Spoiler
Traded Johan Camargo (and Mychal Givens) to the Royals for Josh Staumont (and Ryan O'Hearn).
Wanted to commit to Austin Riley at third after he and Camargo split time there last season. Staumont is a bit raw, but he consistently hits triple digits on the radar gun with his fastball and has topped out at 104. Yeah, he's fun.
Acquired Nick Anderson and Kevin Kiermaier (and Xavier Edwards) from the Rays for Luke Jackson and Cristian Pache (and Andrew Chambers).
Anderson is a luxury, but when the Rays put him on the block we decided to go get him - similar to the Castillo deal a season ago. He's going to serve as co-closer with Will Smith. Kiermaier gives us a left-handed bat for the bench, but more importantly provides some late-inning defense. When Joc and Ozuna are your corner outfielders, you can use a defensive replacement.
Jackson was having a good year for us, but we think Anderson is a nice upgrade. Pache had fallen out of favor a bit. Drew Waters is tearing it up at AAA and we have Michael Harris at AA.
Traded for Pat Valaika
A relatively minor move, but we liked his versatility. And his bat plays better than Kevin Newman's, who we sent back to Baltimore in the deal.
Acquired Ryne Stanek
The Astros DFA'd him after a terrible start to the season, so we picked him up for Grant Dayton. The Astros needed a LH reliever in the worst way. We sent Stanek to Gwinnett to try to work things out. If he gets it together, he could get a call up to be our long reliever.
The Mets, Nats and Phillies are trying to chase us down in the East. The Phillies added Javy Baez in the offseason. The Nats just traded for Bryan Reynolds.
The Cubs, who still have Bryant and Rizzo, lead the NL Central. The Padres are currently leading the Dodgers in the West.
The Rays lead the AL East. The White Sox lead the Central and the surprising Mariners lead the West.
The Braves in late May:
Spoiler
Lineup
1 - Ronald Acuna Jr., CF
2 - Ozzie Albies, 2B
3 - Freddie Freeman, 1B
4 - Marcell Ozuna, LF
5 - Joc Pederson, RF
6 - Travis d'Arnaud, C
7 - Austin Riley, 3B
8 - Dansby Swanson, SS
9 - Pitcher
Freddie is having another MVP-type season. He's hitting just under .350 with 11 homers and 30 RBIs. I'm toying with moving him up to the 2 hole and dropping Albies to 5 or 6.
Bench
C - John Ryan Murphy
IF - Leury Garcia
IF - Pat Valaika
OF - Jorge Soler
OF - Kevin Kiermaier
We're trying to keep guys rested this year, so Garcia gets a lot of playing time with his versatility. Love that guy. Soler is our top PH and starts in place of Joc against lefties.
Rotation
1 - Mike Soroka
2 - Max Fried
3 - Ian Anderson
4 - Sean Newcomb
5 - Kyle Wright
Touki Toussaint and Huascar Ynoa are both rated higher, but at the age of 26 we decided it was put up or shut up time for Wright. So far, he's putting up.
Bullpen
CL - Nick Anderson
CL - Will Smith
SU - Diego Castillo
SU - Tyler Matzek
MR - A.J. Minter
MR - Craig Kimbrel
MR - Josh Staumont
LR - Felix Pena
Just a nasty, nasty bullpen.
Prospects
We need to find a spot - or trade - Touki and Ynoa. Jared Shuster is also putting up ridiculous numbers at AA. Shea Langeliers or William Contreras could eventually overtake Murphy as the backup catcher and one of them will likely be the starter next season. Drew Waters is on track to be the Opening Day CF next year. Chris Guerrero, our 2021 first-round pick, is already at AAA.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
So I too have restarted my Mariners franchise with updated live rosters. Mainly though cause I feel I found my difficulty setting I am going to use this year. I keep track of my stats in a spreadsheet so the OCD in me feels the need to start over fresh with the difficulty settings I am going go use moving forward lol. Finished first series vs Detroit already and will recap that next.
I did sign Rosenthal to begin the year. Decided to give Sheffield a go as #5 starter. Well after one game getting shelled to a tune of 8 hits and 8er in 3.2ip in his first start I will be signing Foltynewicz again lol.

Cardinals (8-6)
Hey guys, it's been a few days since I've played or streamed. Really been torn by other games as well as baseball now. I'm about to get on stream and play a franchise game though, right now. Woodruff vs Hudson to end the series. In my previous game, Kolton Wong hit a 2 run go ahead HR in the 8th inning to effectively win the game. I'm trying to bounce back today and finish the series with a win.

My dilemma is that I always put rookies in Single A and forget about it, typically no matter how good they are. However, I don’t think there are any better options to start the season at 3B than Weinstein.
Our starter from last season is a 77 overall and 28 years old. He hit 20 HRs and 58 RBIs on .250/.347/.393. Free Agency is barren at the position. Outside of a 93 OVR star, (who’s been given the QO), the next best 3B is a 38 year old 76 OVR.
Lastly, I think Weinstein has the ability to hit in the majors right now, with 72 contact R and 73 contact L (58 power R and 59 power L) and has a 83 arm (which is 20 points higher than our current starter). However, Weinstein cannot field at all (39 rating).
Is this Occam’s razor or am I jumping the gun?
