TIGERS WIN 2 OF 3 IN MINNESOTA

    Box Score

The Minnesota Twins (12-11) snapped the Tigers (21-3) 8 game win streak with a 2-1 victory. Byron Buxton hit a 2-run home run in the 3rd inning, and the Twins pitchers made it hold up. The Tiger's lone run came on a Javier Baez RBI single in the 6th.

    Box Score

Jonathan Schoop hit a 2-run home run in the first, and Austin Meadows had an RBI single in the 8th, as the Tigers (22-3) beat the Twins (12-12) 4-2. Michael Pineda went 6 innings against his former team, earning the win.

    Box Score

Tucker Barnhart hit a 3 run home run, and Robby Grossman, Spencer Torkelson, and Miguel Cabrera also homered for the Tigers (23-3) as they beat the Twins 7-2. Javier Baez had an RBI single. Eduardo Rodriguez went 6 innings allowing 2 runs, earning his 5th win of the season.

    UP NEXT
The Tigers continue their road trip with a three game series in Los Angeles against the N.L. West leading Dodgers (18-7)

Pitching matchups for the Dodgers series
    Casey Mize (5-0, 1.51) vs Clayton Kershaw (3-1, 4.37)
    Tarik Skubal (4-0, 1.97) vs Walker Buehler (2-3, 2.91)
    Matt Manning (1-1, 3.54) vs Julio Urias (3-1, 3.21)

    TIGER NOTES
    Baddoo struggling
After a promising rookie season, Akil Baddoo is off to a horrendous start to the 2022 season. In 20 games, Baddo has hit just .180 with 1 home run and 1 RBI. With Rookie CF Riley Greene nearing a rehab assignment, Baddoo could find himself the odd man out of the Tiger's outfield rotation upon Greene's return.

    TORKELSON THRIVING
Spencer Torkelson has been thriving thus far in 2022. Torkelson is hitting .333 with 8 doubles, 5 home runs and 12 RBI.

    BAEZ MORE PATIENT
Shortstop Javier Baez has been much more patient at the plate. Baez walked just 28 times in 546 plate appearances in 2021 (5.1%). So far in 2022, he has walked 13 times in 111 plate appearances (11.7%) over twice his rate of last season. This has resulted in him swinging at better pitches, leading to a .354 average, 8 HR, and 21 RBI.

    RESURGENT CABRERA
After 5 straight average seasons, Miguel Cabrera is off to a really good start. Cabrera appears 100% healthy, and it shows, as he is driving the ball again. Cabrera has 6 home runs and 24 RBI in 26 games, hitting .305.

    CAN'T SHAKE CHICAGO
Despite the hot start, the Tigers just cannot distance themselves from the second place White Sox. Since dropping the first two games of a three game series to Detroit, the Sox have won 17 of their last 18 games, and are only 1.5 games back of the Tigers.

    DETROIT TIGERS STATS

    FRANCHISE NOTES
I play every pitch of every single game. I play on Legend difficulty, both hitting and pitching. Classic pitching, directional hitting. I hit and pitch from the Broadcast camera.

I will post series recaps with highlight videos from most, if not all games. Under each video, will be a link to the box score for that game. At the end of each post will also be a link to the updated MLB Standings, as well as the updated Detroit Tiger stats (google docs)

Won game 3 against the Reds, now I'm 5-4.
Down 1-0 early, I had an incredible 5 run 5th inning. Swanson hits a double, Acuna hit a double allowing Swanson to score, Olson hit a double allowing Acuna to score, Riley hit a home run scoring him and Olson, and then Rosario hits a solo home run, to go up 5-1. Incredible run. Final score was 6-1.

Just curious to ask too, since I love seeing all of these posts with everyone's different experiences. How do you guys play? What types of sliders, hitting/pitching, I just think it's interesting we all love the same mode but do it all so different

ROYALS DROP 2 OF 3 AT HOME VS WHITE SOX

          Game one:
          WP: D. Cease (1-0)
          LP: B. Singer (0-1)
          S: L. Hendriks (1)

The Royals took a 4-0 lead after Ryan O’Hearn’s first inning three run bomb. The White Sox chipped away off of Royals SP Carlos Hernandez, cutting it to 4-3 after five innings.

Brady Singer was the first bullpen arm for the Royals and he didn’t have it today. He faced five batters who all reached, and he coughed up the lead by giving up three runs. The rest of the Royals bullpen got through it, but since the Royals couldn’t score after the first, the White Sox get the 6-4 win.

          Game two:
          WP: Z. Greinke (1-0)
          LP: D. Keuchel (0-1)
          S: S. Barlow (1)

Royals win the game 3-0 behind dominant pitching. Zack Greinke was incredible, pitching 6.2 scoreless. He had his pitch count in a decent place, but after taking a hit off his thigh, he walked the next batter and his control was noticeably shaky. We decided it was better to be safe and hand it over to the bullpen which was fantastic.

The offense was supplied by an RBI single by Bobby Witt Jr (first hit and rbi of his career) and a two run HR from unlikely power source Michael A. Taylor.

          Game three:
          WP: L. Lynn (1-0)
          LP: B. Keller (0-1)
          S: L. Hendriks (2)

The White Sox greeted Royals SP Brad Keller with two first inning bombs (2 run HR for Grandal, solo shot for Jimenez). Keller would rebound and go 4.2 before running into trouble and being pulled in the fifth.

On the other side, Lance Lynn was incredible. He went 7.2 innings and allowed just 3 runs on 4 hits (exited with two on and the bullpen allowed them to score) while striking out 8.

The Royals would get a two run double from Witt Jr in the eighth to trim it to 4-3, but strand the tying run at third.

In the top of the ninth the Royals bullpen imploded, allowing four runs for the Sox. The Royals would make it interesting by loading the bases against Kendall Graveman in the bottom of the ninth with no outs, but Liam Hendriks would enter and get Nicky Lopez to ground into a double play (making it 8-4) and Mondesi to fly out to end the game.

The Royals record after two series is 3-3. They’ll remain home for a second series for the Guardians (4 games) before heading to St. Louis for a quick two game series with cross state rivals.

Legend difficulty for both hitting and pitching. Timing hitting, classic pitching.

I do EVERYTHING strictly from the BROADCAST camera view.

I turn pitch select off, strike zone off, ball marker to fade. I want a clean screen, so it looks almost like watching a TV broadcast.

Classic pitching, Timing hitting and Auto fielding (I do the throwing) for me. Clean screen with no markers and no vibration. Pretty much default All-Star but I put the Timing slider at 0 for me and 10 for the CPU. I may give HOF another shot next season. I’m also using the Competitive game style.

I have budgets off, but keep myself to a set budget (usually less than what the game gives me) and I have house rules for trades using the trading block.

And I play every pitch of every game. I’m still playing 21 and at this point Franchise mode is still the only mode I’ve touched.

                Pirates Make a Trade!

Pirates have traded Yoshi Tsutsugo, Ben Gamel, and JT Brubaker to the White Sox for Gavin Sheets. The White Sox needed bench depth and that's exactly what they get with Ben Gamel giving them a solid 4th outfield and Yoshi giving them a veteran presence. They also acquired JT Brubaker who can be a 5th starter for them and used out of the Bullpen. The Pirates get a First Basemen Sheets who hopefully they can build around with the other core they currently have.

Directional hitting, Classic pitching and Auto fielding with manual (button) throwing.

Using Dynamic Difficulty this season. I've been fluctuating between Veteran+ and HOF for hitting, and All-Star to HOF+ for pitching. It does a good job of capturing the ebbs and flows of the season.

I typically spend the first month of franchise mode games tweaking with the sliders as much as possible so that not only are the games a challenge but so that the players attributes shine through so the good teams are hard to beat and the bad rebuilding teams are easier to beat. For me it's all about a fair game. No team NO team makes the playoffs every year. So for me if I am dominating and all the sudden unbeatable not fun for me at all. That is what I love about this thread most not all but most of the people posting if you look at the team they are using and the records they are playing a fair brand of baseball and are not a lock to win it all. Some are not even going to make the playoffs. That is what its all about. Back in the past many years ago I would see people with records like 140-22 winning their 5th title in a row and i was like. How is that fun? But that was a long time ago. So really its a work in progress to find balance but I start with a slider set and adjust and play on hall of fame for both settings

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

50 games into year one and the Rockies stand at 22-28, which is maybe slightly better than what I was expecting.

Kris Bryant has been a stud and definitely worth the big contract. He’s been by far our most consistent hitter and is near the top of most major NL categories. However, it’s been really difficult finding consistency from anyone else on the roster (hence our below-.500 record). McMahon, Cron and Hilliard have all been great at times but have all been in bad cold streaks as well.

Pitching has been even worse, with our #1 and #2 pitchers (Marquez and Gomber) both missing 1-2 months with injuries. This has forced us to rotate a couple AAA pitchers to fill Gomber’s spot and we signed Cueto to fill in for Marquez (had a great start but has struggled in the last two games). Our bullpen has probably been our weakest link and I hold my breath anytime we bring someone into the game.

Still, I’m having an absolute blast and have been locked into an intense three-team battle with San Francisco and Arizona for 3rd, 4th and 5th in the NL West. We’ve basically been basically 2-3 games up on SF and 2-3 behind AZ all season. Will be fun to see how the year plays out and what happens in the draft in a couple days!

The Cardinals (34-33) dropped 2 games of the 3 game series with the Reds over the weekend in St.Louis. The Cards now maintain just a 1/2 game lead over the Cubs and Brewers in the Central Division.

The Cardinals lost both Friday and Saturday as the Reds bats just beat up the Cardinals. They were able to avoid the sweep by winning Sunday, despite not producing much offense.

The Cardinals will remain home and welcome the Pirates to town before heading to Boston next weekend.

Cardinals option Edmundo Sosa to Memphis. Recall Anderson Tejeda

The Cardinals have optioned IF Edmundo Sosa to Memphis and recalled Anderson Tejeda. Sosa who competed for the starting SS job in Spring Training, and was thought to be the everyday 3B when Arenado was injured, just cannot get going at the dish. He's hitting just .207 but he is unproductive with his at-bats with RISP and in limited PA leads the team in double plays hit into. The hope is that a trip to Memphis to get constant at-bats by being in the lineup everyday will get him back on track.

Anderson Tejeda was brought back up after being sent down when the Cardinals signed Pujols. Tejeda raked in his limited appearances at Memphis hitting over .500 with a homerun and 6 RBI's. He will likely be the everyday 3rd baseman until Arenado returns.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Hey guys! I was wondering, how's franchise vs last year's game? I feel like there is not a lot of new options.

Also any words if they will patch in new things like the playoff format or 28 men roster for April?

Tigers(18-8) Take 2/3 from Twins(10-15), Continue Hot Streak

The Tigers started their 6 game road trip out in Minnesota and came out with a series win. 6-2 in series now for the month of April, but they have played mostly struggling teams, minus the now 13-12 Mariners, 16-10 Red Sox, and 19-7 Yankees. Of course they have played the 5-20 Rockies, as well as the 6-20 A's to round that out as well. Well back to the Recap.

Pitching, especially of the Starting variety was very strong for Detroit in this series, with them only giving up 10 runs over the three games. A 9 run effort, including a 3 run bomb by Tork, helped in game one as Mize went six strong in his best start, and they won 9-1.

Game 2, was a defensive battle as well, as it came down to a Baddoo and Baez homers in the 4th to break the game open and take the lead 4-0, where they would hold on until the end, 4-3.

Game 3, Eduardo struggled some but not as bad as he has been, and went 5, while giving up 2, but the Tigers offense just wasn't there, and despite getting it to 3-2, they couldn't pull it out, and lost 6-2.

Now the Tigers pack their bags, and head out to L.A., as they will take on the 22-3 Dodgers in a 3 game set to end the first full month of baseball.

Blue Jays are running on fumes. We've lost 3 straight to the Guardians, all on walk-off hits. One more game to go before we FINALLY get a day of rest. We are 10-9 on this 20-game stretch, and hope we can finish with a win.
