Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Cubs improve to 2-0 after an 8-2 win over the Reds. Marcus Stromans first pitch as a cub ended up over the fence on a Tommy Pham home run, the second pitch resulted in a double. After that Stroman retired 14 straight batters. In the end he went 7.2, 5 strikeouts, 2 walks and a hit batter.
On the offensive side Brennen Davis got the cubs going hitting his first major league home run a 2 run no doubter and later added an RBI single. Seiya Suzuki added an RBI single, he’s got 6 RBI in two games to start the year. Nico added a sac fly and Patrick Wisdom hit a 2 run moon shot home run.
Wade Miley faces his former team in the series finale vs Mike Minor.
Game 3: Cubs fail to sweep the Reds after a 3-2 loss. Schwindel and Patrick Wisdom hit solo home runs. Miley was cruising until the 5th inning when he allowed a solo shot to Farmer and two batters later a 2 run shot from Aquino.
Onto the Cards.Last edited by chitown1-23; 04-16-2022, 09:24 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
So I thought this might be a good place to ask, I started my Guardians franchise last night, and I wanted to sign Jose Ramirez to his new deal he just got. But he wasn't shown as eligible for an extension. Is there are reason for that that I'm missing?
I checked his current contract and his new deal is not in the game. He's signed for two more years in the game. Can you not negotiate if a player isn't hitting arbitration or free agency after the first year or something?
And as far as the opener. Bieber went 6 1/3, 2 runs in the first inning, then only two hits after that with 10K's. Franmil Reyes broke a 2-2 tie in the 6th with a two run homer and I went on to win 4-2.Comment

ROYALS TAKE 2 OF 3 IN CLEVELAND TO OPEN THE SEASON
WP: S. Barlow (1-0)
LP: T. Stephan (0-1)
S: A. Garrett (1)
The KC Royals won an 11 inning affair on Opening Day 2-1 thanks to a Whit Merrifield RBI single. Both Zack Greinke and Shane Bieber were great. Both pitched into the seventh and only allowed one run each.
WP: E. Clase (1-0)
LP: J. Staumont (0-1)
Game two saw Brad Keller get rocked early, allowing four runs in the first three innings, but he at least settled down enough to get through five (4 ER, 7 hits).
The Royals bats battled all game with a run here and there, finally getting a sac fly from Nicky Lopez in the ninth to tie it. Unfortunately in the bottom of the 9th Josh Staumont allowed a walk-off solo HR to Oscar Mercado (second HR of the game).
WP: D. Lynch (1-0)
LP. C. Quantrill (0-1)
S: J. Payamps (1)
In the series finale, the Royals put up six runs in the third off of Cal Quantrill, punctuated by a Carlos Santana grand slam. It would be the only inning the Royals would score in, but it was enough as Daniel Lynch would give up only one run through 7.2 innings. The Guardians would add a pair off of Jonathan Bowlan, but fall 6-3.
The Royals now head to Kauffman Stadium for the first time of the season for series vs the White Sox and Guardians.
Series note* Bobby Whitt Jr had an underwhelming debit series, going 0-11 with 3 k’s, and scoring one run after a walk.Last edited by JohnnyWreckless; 04-17-2022, 06:43 AM.Comment

I know we (Toronto) have young talent, but even the kids need a day off, MLB. Playing through a stretch of the early season schedule that has us playing 20 consecutive games before a scheduled off day.
Trying to cycle guys to get rest is getting to be a challenge as we enter the final week of this portion of the schedule.
19-10 record, which is one game back of Tampa in the AL East and good for the first Wildcard spot. Vlad Jr. was the AL Player of the Month in April; he hit .310 with 13 HRs and 30 RBI.Currently Playing:

What is his contract in the game?

Cardinals split series with Blue Jays
The Cardinals (26-23) split their mini 2 game series with the Blue Jays in St.Louis. The Cardinals are 3 games behind the Cubs for the NL Central Division.
The Cardinals won the series opener on Monday 3-2 scoring 2 runs in the 7th when Lars Nootbar pinch hit and drilled a two run homerun to dead center. Ryan Helsley would get the win, his 3rd, and Giovanny Gallegos would record his 11th save.
Tuesday wouldn't go as well as the Blue Jays got to Miles Mikolas early (4-3) scoring 4 runs in the first 4 innings. The Cardinals bats were stifled by Yusei Kikuchi who had himself a day getting the win on the mound with 7 innings pitched and going 3 for 3 at the dish.
The Cardinals are off on Wednesday as they wait for the Brewers to get to town for a 4 game weekend series.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Cubs win the home opener 2-1 over the Cardinals. Brennen Davis had an rbi single in front of the home crowd in his first at bat. He finished the day 2-4 1RBI. Nolan Arenado hit a sac fly in the 4th to tie it. In the 7th the cubs had two on no out Schwindel hit a blooper which looked like there was no play on it but Bader made an amazing catch and it turned into a triple play. In the bottom of the 10th Frank Schwindel hit the walk off single. Alozay went 6 innings allowing 1 run.Comment

Cardinals split 4 game series with Brewers
The Cardinals (28-25) split their 4 game series with the Brewers over the weekend in St.Louis. The Cardinals did gain ground on the Cubs and trail by just a game in the NL Central.
Dakota Hudson got the ball Thursday and pitched well but still suffered his 5th loss of the season (2-5). Hudson only last 5.1 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits including 2 homeruns. The bullpen wasn't much better as they gave up 2 homeruns as well as the Brewers would win 5-1.
On Friday night Jack Flaherty got the ball and more importantly got the run support he's been desperately needing. The Cardinals scored 6 runs through 4 innings as the long ball was working with Edman, Goldschmidt, O'Neill and Carlson all going deep. Flaherty would got 7.1 innings only striking out 4 but he didn't give up a run. He was pulled after hitting 100 pitches and his 101st pitch was a double off the right field wall by Yelich.
The Cardinals bats were absent on Saturday as they wasted a good outing by Wainwright. Waino went 6 innings but struck out 6 giving up 3 runs on 5 hits. The bullpen would give up another (McFarland another homerun to a lefty) as the Brewers would win 4-2. Andrew Knizner who is playing well since taking over for the injured Molina went 3 for 3 with a double and RBI.
Sunday's finale saw T.J Zeuch get the ball after struggling his last start. The Cards would put him in the lead in the 4th scoring 4 runs off of Adrian Houser. Zeuch would go 6.1 innings giving up just one run on 5 hits. He didn't miss bats only recording one strikeout.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Monday night as the Padres come to town for a 3 game series to end the homestand.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

And yeah, it was in spring training. He just doesn't show up as eligible even though a bunch of other players do who have real contracts. Like Bieber who hits arbitration next year. But they signed him to a one year deal to avoid it. I will be giving him a huge deal next season.Comment

After starting 3-1 with the Braves, I've lost the last 3 games. Played the first game of the Reds series this morning, losing 2-1. I turned DH off and the only RBI I had the whole game was from Fried lol. Hopefully, I can pick back up and start winning again soon.NCAA: Kentucky Wildcats

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Just started my Astros franchise where I'll play every game. Will likely be playing 22 for a few years, was going to stick with 20/21 but seeing all the improvements made me decide this was the game I wanted to roll with. I also wanted to play with Pena.
Anyways anybody have any house rules they employ regarding minor league free agents? Thinking about signing a couple but don't want to be unfair to other teams ran by the CPU. I am running 30 team control so maybe something I can do there?"Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!"
