Correa Interested in Sticking with Twins
One day after trading away what seemed to be their entire MLB team, Carlos Correa informed the Minnesota Twins' front office that he would like to stay with the Twins but he wants them to go out and acquire pitching before tomorrow's trade deadline.
Correa signed a three-year $105M contract late last off-season, surprising all of baseball. The deal included an opt out after each season if Correa wishes to test the free agent market again.
Following Minnesota's 6-4 win over the Padres on Saturday, Correa notified reporters that the he would like to stay in Minnesota for at least one more year.
"While the season hasn't gone as planned, I have enjoyed my time here in Minnesota and I am entertaining opting in for next season," commented Correa. "But I don't feel that we are out of the post-season picture just yet. We have a great offensive team, we just need a few more arms to keep competing."
Now the pressure is on the front office of Minnesota to go get an arm or two before the end of the trade deadline tomorrow. The Twins are currently six games back in the division.
