Man injuries suck! In my Mets franchise Guardians are up 4.5 games on Twins mid June. José Ramirez leading in AL MVP race. He is out now 2-3 months. With them being my favorite team irl and he being my favorite player in the league I almost feel like cheating and not letting it be lol. I just hate that happening. Ernie Clement time I suppose. We will see if they can at least go .500 without Jose.

35 games to go in my Blue Jays 2022 season, and I have no clue how things are going to shake out and that's honestly a great feeling.

We've been in a 3-team battle with the Rays and Yankees and have spent time in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the division. Currently, Toronto holds a 1-game edge over Tampa Bay, with New York 5 games back.

Complicating matters is the Angels are currently the No. 2 wild card team, just two games behind Tampa in terms of W-L for perspective.

So, the Blue Jays could win the AL East, win the No. 1 or 2 wild card or be out of the postseason entirely.

The Reds have decided to make a staff move. After allowing 12 runs on 17 hits in the first game of a four game series against the Braves and being at the bottom in most pitching categories, they have terminated their pitching coach (4 negative attributes) and signed Buster Tan (4 positive attributes) to a three year deal. The move came early as the Reds have struggled with a team ERA 5.95 and a difficult stretch of schedule upcoming.

              Game 1
              Reds 4-5-0
              ATL. 12-17-1

The Reds have 3 remaining games with Atlanta and will face Cleveland, LA Dodgers, San Diego and St Louis to basically close out April.

Cardinals drop series to Cubs in windy Chicago

The Cardinals (20-11) dropped 2 games of a 3 game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago. All 3 games featured the losing team being shut out and winds blowing in, in excess of 10mph making hitting the ball out of the park challenging. In fact, only one homerun was hit the entire series.

The Cardinals lost the first two games of the series despite the pitching staff holding the Cubs to a .200 batting average and allowing just 3 runs. On Thursday, the Cards bounced back with a shutout of their own winning 4-0 over the Cubs.

While its frustrating being shutout two straight games, it wasn't like the offense was swinging and missing or continuously off balance resulting in weak contact. The Cards hit the ball hard right at defenders, into the wind, and at times were robbed of hits due to great defensive plays by the Cubs in the first two games. On Thursday, some of those hard hit balls found alleys and the glovework by the Cubs wasn't as outstanding as it was the previous two games.

The Cardinals received a scare again on Thursday as Jack Flaherty left the game for the 2nd time in 3 starts due to shoulder tightness. The Cardinals have debated putting him on the 15 day IL in an effort to give him rest and prevent significant injury from occurring.

The Cardinals will now face the Reds this weekend for a 3 game series in Cincinnati.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                    2022 Arizona Diamondbacks 09/15-09/18

Overall Record:94-57 (1st NL West, 4.5 over LA Dodgers)

Arizona drops big late season series to Padres

Arizona's once comfortable NL West lead has decreased to 4.5 games after back to back series losses to Los Angeles and San Diego.

The first game of the four game series was the only that ended in the favor of the D-Backs by the score of 7-6. That score was a lot closer than it seemed like it would be earlier in the game after Arizona took a 7-1 lead after six innings. San Diego tried to come back with two in the 8th and three in the 9th but fell just short.

San Diego swept the remainder of the series games 4-1, 10-3 and 5-4.

Arizona now goes on the road for another three game series against the Dodgers in LA. That series could be huge in regards to the final standings in the NL West.

                      Game 3: Casey Mize 24-0, 2.41) vs Joe Ryan (4-6, 3.80)

Casey Mize is set to start the season finale on Sunday. There was talk of possibly skipping his start, however, with the Divisional round not starting until Friday October 7th at the earliest, That would put him on normal rest if he started game 1, and an extra day of rest if he starts game 2.

                        2022 Arizona Diamondbacks

Overall Record:96-58 (1st NL West 5.5 over LA Dodgers)

Marte leads Arizona to series victory over Los Angeles

Its hard to say that the NL's leading hitter was in a slump but he had been before the series with LA. Marte was seemingly stuck on 38 homers and his batting average had fallen to the .320s from the .330s. That slump looked to continue into the last series Vs. the Dodgers as he went hitless in game one in which LA took a dominating victory 6-1.

Game two appeared as if it was going to start much better for Arizona after three first inning singles by Josh Rojas, Ketel Marte and Jordan Luplow loaded the bases. With the bases loaded, Carson Kelly came up to bat and just missed a first inning grand slam as his ball to deep left was caught. Rojas was able to score on the sac fly but that is the only run Arizona would get in the inning as they led 1-0. The game continued in Arizona's favor with Marte and Kelly adding back to back home runs in the third to bring the score to 3-1. Arizona's strong game would continue onward to a 8-3 series tying victory.

Game three again started strong for Arizona with Pavin Smith's 13th home run of the season which gave the D-backs the 1-0 victory after the first inning. LA took charge with three in the 3rd and another in the 5th to take the 4-1 lead. Marte and company bounced back with a strong six run 7th inning that included another homer by Marte which led Arizona to a 8-4 lead. Arizona would add four more runs and hold out against a bottom of the 9th LA rally to win the game 12-8 and to take the possible playoff preview series two games to one.

Josh Rojas was injured in the third game while sliding into third base. His diagnosis after the game showed to be a broken shin which could see him miss the remainder of the season and the playoffs.

Arizona continues on toward the end of the regular season, returning home for a three game set against the fourth place San Francisco Giants.

Braves complete a 3-game sweep in Texas vs. the Rangers.

The Rangers is the worst team in the MLB with a 8-18 record. Now they're 8-21. I can see why. We collected 37 hits and banged out 12HR's in the series.

                            Every starter(Soroka,Anderson & Morton) of mine was the winning pitcher of record. Game 1: 9-4, Game 2: 8-0 & Game 3: 9-3.

After Game 1, I was curious who was on the trading blog in late April. I discovered that the M's had Georgia's own OF Kyle Lewis on the block. Michael Harris is struggling in AAA and Duvall batting around .200 with 1HR,2RBI in over 20 games. I pulled the trigger! We sent OF Drew Waters & SP Bryce Elder to the M's for Lewis. 1st game played he went 3 for 4, 2R, RBI. Interesting enough both Waters & Elder are in the starters for the M's at the MLB level. I see that CF J-Rod is out for the year with broken ankle.

The only let down of the series. Saw 3B Riley 18 game-hitting streak come an end. He's mashing the ball 9HR,16RBI,2B(6),3B(1). .374/.389/.758/1.148 in 91AB. He only got 1AB and left with forearm tightness after a diving attempt in the field. I'm a little concerned this is his second minor injury in the total of the team 28 games played.

We extended our winning streak to 9 games, record is 19-10 and up 2.5 on the 2nd place Mets. Which we are headed to the N.Y. for a 3-game series vs.the Mets.
                            Great pitching match-ups scheduled:
                            Game 1: KY. Wright(3-1,ERA1.91) vs Tai. Walker(2-2, 2.30ERA).
                            Game 2: Fried(3-0,3.23ERA) vs Carrasco(3-1,2.87ERA)
                            Game 3: Soroka(4-0,2.84ERA) vs deGrom(2-2,2.97ERA)
Our hot batter at the moment is 1B Olson(11HR,23RBI,.346/.378/.683/1.061) 4HR in the last 3-games.

After the pitching coach change the Reds completed the last 3 games of a 4 game series with the Braves.

                              Game 2
                              CIN 1-3-0
                              ATL 3-7-0
                              Game 3
                              CIN 4-7-0
                              ATL 1-7-0
                              Game 4
                              CIN 3-5-0
                              ATL 4-8-0

So before the change the team ERA was 5.95
After the change (3 games) team ERA was 2.88
Wish I would have done that sooner.

I have a house rule that I cannot sign a free agent until one of the other 29 teams sign one. The Rockies sign Wilson Ramos and that opened the door for me to sign Oliver Perez LHRP
to a one year 1.8m deal to give me another lefty in the pen.

                              Reds are 3-7
Cleveland comes to town for a two game series.

Money Spent, Same Results in 2022 for Rangers.

Well 500 million spent on the infield was good enough for a 78-84 record and another season without playoff baseball in Arlington. The 4th best record in The AL West, Texas started the season 15-10 before things fell apart. The timely hits stopped and the pitching vanished. At the All Star break they were 7 games back of the division [leaders Houston and 5 back in the Wild Card. Despite all that they continued to retool rather than a full fledge rebuild. The Rangers traded catching prospect David Garcia and number 5 prospect in the system Ezequiel Duran to Cincinnati for Tyler Mahle and Max Schrock. The Reds drafted Schrock as a second basemen but he has spent sometime in the outfield and that is most likely where Texas looks to put him to help the corner outfield spots. Duran's move to The Reds makes a quick call up possible as he was blocked in Texas by Seager and Semien. He has a quick and powerful bat as well as strong defensive qualities. The expectation was Mahle would be a piece to help a contender over the hump but instead he headed to Texas. Texas has taken a different philosophy then most non playoffs teams the past 2 seasons. They continue to invest in proven MLB talent to rush the rebuilding process. Unfortunately Mahle was subpar going 11-16, 185 innings, 167 K's with a 4.43 ERA. In a surprise Josh Jung never got the call up and instead Leody Taveras bounced back and forth (194 AB's, .242/.335/.4599) and Cole Winn who got 6 starts with a 3.95 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 27 innings.
