Round one of the post season and we faced off against the Phillies

Game 1: Padres won 9-8. Back and forth battle with multiple lead changes throughout. We ended up winning in extras in the 10th inning on a walk off hit.

Game 2: Phillies won 7-4. Despite Juan Soto's best efforts with 2 HR's. Profar also for the second straight game hit a lead off HR.

Game 3: Padres won 2-0 on another Soto bomb. Jake Cronenworth went 3-3 in the game.

Game 4: Padres eliminated the Phillies with an 8-6 win. Fernando Tatis Jr with the big 3 run HR to cement the game. Josh Bell with another 3 run HR as well. Josh Hader closed it out for back to back saves.

        First round stats for us

Juan Soto .471 with 3 HRs and 5 RBI
Fernando Tatis Jr .313 with 2 HR and 7 RBI
        Manny Machado .176, 0 HR, 1 RBI
        Josh Bell .294 2 HR, 4 RBI
        Jurickson Profar .267 2 HR 2 RBI (Both lead off HR's in games 1 and 2 )

Our only starter who did well was Blake Snell who went 5 scoreless.

We now will face the Cardinals in the NLCS. The Astros face the White Sox in the ALCS. Houston swept the Yankees 3-0 and CWS beat the Mariners in 4.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks World Series Game 1

            Final Score:
            D-Backs-5
            Angels-1

Peralta leads Arizona to game one victory.

David Peralta started his professional baseball career at sixteen years of age when he signed with the St Louis Cardinals organization as a pitcher. He didnt make his major league debut until ten years later in 2014 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Peralta has been with the team since and unfortunately he and the team have had several bad years.

This year, Arizona won their division thanks in part to Peralta who had likely his second best professional season, just behind his 2018 campaign.

Peralta has been among the top performers in the 2022 playoffs and game one of the World Series saw him add to his resume for post season MVP.

Peralta finished the game 3 for 3 with a double and a triple that led to three RBI's. His performance along with a solid complete game for Madison Bumgarner brought the D-Backs to the 5-1 victory.

Arizona will now look to maintain homefield advantage with a win in game two when Luke Weaver matches up against Michael Lorenzen.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks World Series Game 2

              Final Score:
              Angels-3
              D-Backs-1

              Series Tied 1-1

Trout's bat comes alive as Angels even series

The Angels' two main stars, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani went a combined 0 for 8 in game one. In game two, Ohtani again went 0 for 4 but Mike Trout came through with a three hit performance that included a two run homerun that clanged off the top of the left field flag pole in the 6th inning. That two run shot would prove to be the key to victory as Michael Lorenzen and company stifled the Arizona offense, holding them to just three hits which resulted in one run.

The world series now shifts to Los Angeles where Arizona will have to win at least one game to get homefield advantage back and to hopefully get the series back to Arizona.

Jacob deGrom leaves game two @ Cubs with shoulder injury.

All Mets fans were worried as he left the game early with a shoulder injury. He was rolling and finished the game 4ip allowing just 3 hits and 8 strikeouts.

Luckily after the game it was confirmed that no major damage to the shoulder. Only some tightness. Heading into the break he should be good to start the first game after the break.

The Toronto Blue Jays stunned the New York Yankees 11-1 in the AL Wildcard Game, to advance to the ALDS to face the Tampa Bay Rays.

Cavan Biggio hit a pair of solo home runs, including a leadoff homer to open the game. Teoscar Hernandez and Matt Chapman also went deep early against AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole, who gave up 5 runs, despite striking out 11 batters in 5.2 innings of work.

Up 5-1 entering the 9th inning, Toronto tacked on 6 runs, with Chapman belting a grand slam to seal the deal.

Kevin Gausman was electric, pitching 8 innings and allowing just a solo home run to Gleyber Torres.

The only downside is Raimel Tapia injured his hip on a slide and is out for the ALDS. He had been playing CF with George Springer already out for the year. So, the Blue Jays will have to shuffle around there.

                    -----
I can't believe the game went the way it did. Obviously, very happy to win but yeah, didn't think we'd hit 4 HRs off of Cole or turn a close game into a complete blowout by the end.

We've struggled big time against the Rays, so we will see what happens, but nice to not be one and done in the playoffs.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Reading all of these postseason updates has me excited to keep going with my Guardians franchise. I just finished up the month of April and I'm sitting third in the AL Central at 13-15. About to start a two game series at home against the Padres (complete with a healthy, honest, and clean Tatis Jr...)

Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor and carrying the team. Ramirez has 7 HR and 22 RBI and Naylor has 10HR and 23 RBI and just won the AL Player of the Month for April (he started cooling off towards the end of the month). Franmil Reyes is being his typical self with 7HR and 19 RBI, and plenty of strikeouts. Will he be able to remain on my Guardians roster? Or will he be cut only for the Cubs pick him up? Stay tuned!

The pitching has been hit or miss, and number 3 starter Cal Quantrill was put on the 15 day IL for a strained hamstring. Tristan McKenzie is the best starter in the rotation so far, everyone else has just been average.

Overall, hopes remain high for a good season. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up some wins with an easier schedule upcoming and a pretty weak division to boot.

We are absolutely pounding the Cardinals in the NLDS.

                        Game 1: Padres 9 Cardinals 1

We had a power surge in this game as Jurickson Profar, Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr, Jake Cronenworth and Trent Grisham (x2) all went yard. Joe Musgrove went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 7 hits and 3 K's. Luis Garcia threw a scoreless 7th and Nabil Crismatt got some work in with 2 scoreless innings.

                        Game 2: Padres 15 Cardinals 3

The story of this game was the 8th inning. After Sean Manaea came in on relief of Yu Darvish who threw 5 scoreless innings and giving up 3 runs, the Padres exploded for 11 runs in the eighth inning including two grand slams. One hit by Brandon Drury (who had 2 HRs in the game) and Fernando Tatis Jr. Padres also got another HR from Juan Soto who is now hitting .461 in the post season with 5 HRS and has to be early candidate for post season MVP. Tatis had 5 RBI's and hitting .346 in the post season. Brandon Drury added 6 RBI this game on his 2 HR's.

Game 3 will be Blake Snell (0-0, 0.00) ERA vs Jordan Montgomery (2-0, 2.08 ERA). Blake threw 5 scoreless innings in his first appearance vs Philadelphia but got no help from the offense.

As we head into trade season here are the buyers within my franchise. I just take 7 teams from each league for 14 total. So 16 teams looking to sell. Some of these teams might surprise you.

A quick update on my Guardians franchise:

The two game series with San Diego saw just how quickly things can change in the game of baseball. Game 1 was a back and forth affair that ended with a game winning HR off of Josh Hader by rookie Oscar Gonzalez, his first career HR! The second game was a 1-0 win by the Guardians with Jose Ramirez looping a HR around the foul pole to right in the first inning and the Guardian pitching staff holding the Padres scoreless for the remainder of the game. However, ace Shane Bieber left the game in the fourth inning. After the game it was revealed he suffered a broken hand (odd?) and is out 1-2 months. This will force the organization to call up rookie Tanner Tully to fill the void. The club will need to rely on Aaron Civale and Tristan McKenzie now, as the rotation has two rookies filling in for injured pitchers.
