    BOX SCORE

The Detroit Tigers are once again World Series Champions. With a 6-3 victory over the Mets in Game 4, the Tigers clinched a sweep, and their first World Series Championship since 1984.

It wasn't easy though. The Mets elected to start Max Scherzer on 3 days rest, with Jacob deGrom ready in the bullpen if needed. The Tigers got a run in the first, on a 2 out RBI single by Miguel Cabrera. The Mets tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd, on a Mark Canha solo home run to left.

The Tigers scored three times in the 3rd, to take a 4-1 lead. Juan Soto singled to right, scoring Javier Baez, and then Spencer Torkelson followed with a 2 run home run to dead center field, scoring Soto.

The Mets got one back in the bottom of the 3rd, on a sac fly by Starling Marte. They got another single run in the 5th, on a J.D. Davis solo home run, his 4th of the post season. That cut the lead to 4-3.

Kyle Dutcher homered in the 7th, to give the Tigers a 2 run lead. Miguel Cabrera added another RBI single in the 8th, for a 3 run lead. Lucas Sims, and Gregory Soto combined to allow just 1 hit in the final 3 innings, to seal the win. Soto earned his 7th save of the post season. Neither Sims nor Soto were scored upon in the post season.

Eduardo Rodriguez started, and pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, to get the win.

The Tigers now head into the off season, with few unsigned players. Michael Pineda, and Wily Peralta are unsigned, and neither are expected to be resigned.

The only real question mark will be Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera hinted at the beginning of the post season that he would consider retiring if the Tigers won the World Series. Cabrera, who has a history of bad knees, seemingly broke down towards the end of the regular season, though he did hit .391 with 12 RBI in the post season. If he would choose to retire, it could open the door for the Tigers to possibly make a big splash in Free Agency. If he returns, the Tigers aren't expected to make too many changes.

Cardinals swept by Marlins as struggles continue

The Cardinals (62-57) were swept over the weekend by the Marlins in a 3 games in Miami. The Cardinals stil maintain a 1/2 game lead of the Reds. The Brewers are 3 games back and the Cubs are now 4 games back.

Simply put the Cardinals are playing bad baseball and they are not getting any depth with starting pitching. None of the 3 starters in this series Kim, Martinez, or Odorizzi got out of the 5th inning. So the bullpen has been taxed and the offense just cannot generate runs, unless someone pops one over the fence.

Hopefully the return home will get the Cardinals back on track as they welcome the Pirates to town for a 3 game series. The Nationals will be in for a 4 game weekend series.

Playing with an all timers roster. Spent some time tweaking my Cleveland roster.

          LF-Lofton
          CF-Speaker
          RF-Belle
          3B-Rosen
          SS-Bourdeau
          2B-LaJoie
          1B-Thome
          C-Alomar Jr

          SPs
          Feller
          McDowell
          Herschiser
          Lee
          Colon

          RPs

          Doug Jones
          Ray Narleski
          Andrew Miller
          Clase

Every other player will be used minimally, but I combined most all time greats with some of my favorites (Belle, Colon, Lee, Manny, Lofton)

I made them all 2 years younger than their debut age to run them through the minors to develop since everyone else on their rosters are full of 99s. Potential ranges from 85-99 on these players.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLDS game 4

              Final Score:
              Dodgers-8
              Diamondbacks-7

Freeman, Dodgers walk it off and tie series 2-2

Thats why the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Freddie Freeman. Freeman had just one hit in game four of their NLDS matchup against the 2022 MLB cinderella Arizona Diamondbacks. That one hit came in the 10th inning and was a walk off two run home run that gave LA the 8-7 victory.

As has been customary in this series, Mookie Betts knocked a ball over the left field fence to give LA the early lead in the first inning 1-0. Carson Kelly and company tied the game in the second 1-1.

LA would then jump out to a 3-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning after Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger hit back to back doubles and Tre Turner hit a rbi single.

(Tre) Turner was later injured after a HBP in the 5th inning his status going forward is in question. The next inning, Christian Walker was the first Diamondback batter and was also hit by a pitch. Was it retaliation? Maybe but the umpire did not see it that way and took no action against the teams.

Arizona took a two run lead into the 9th inning and Mark Melancon was brought in to close out what would have been his third game of the series. But he had a tough task, facing the 2,3 and four hitters of the Dodgers.

Mookie Betts lead that 9th inning off with his second homer of the game (4th of the series) and Cody Bellinger would later single in the eventual hero, Freddie Freeman.

The series now sits at a 2-2 tie headed into a series deciding game five in LA.

                A Pittsburgh Pirates Franchise:

So I've been working on a pirates franchise for several months now, and I wanted to start posting about it on here. I started off playing on legend default difficulty with zone hitting and pinpoint pitching. I was very rusty with the game as I hadn't played in 2 years, but the rust quickly wore off. After starting 2-9, pirates won 7 straight to get back to .500, and after hovering around that mark for 2 weeks the pirates took off, eventually getting all the way to 24 games over .500 at 70-46, andgaining a 13 game edge on the rest of the struggling nl central.

At this time, I decided that just playing using my skills was going to make it too easy, and also I realized playing every game wasn't going to get me too far into the franchise, so I decided I was gonna find a good slider set, jump to timing hitting and classic pitching, and start simming and doing some player locks to keep it moving faster. Shoutout to Irish salsa and Bryan for their slider set, as I have settled into a slightly adjusted version of that and the game plays a lot more true, tougher to win with this pirates roster.

With that, as the pirates are clearly in a playoff push, the pirates decided to be buyers at the deadline and was able to make a deal of 3 prospects for a's center fielder Ramon Laureano. The pirates also signed Michael conforto in May, and what was once a weakness in the hitting lineup, the pirates have turned the outfield into a strength. As the season went on past the trade deadline though, the pitching, which was a big strength and putting up big numbers from starters to bullpen, was slowly becoming a weakness. The pitching came back sown to earth, and what was once the 2nd best era in the league became one of the worst as a team. To add to the pain, both Michael conforto and Ramon laureano got injured for the rest of the season, making the outfield a really tough spot on top of the pitching being back to normal.

The pirates only won 6 games in the month of September, and ended up finishing the year 85-77. Fortunately that was good enough to still win the division by 7 games over the brewers. Unfortunately that lands them into a road series with the dodgers in the nlds. Mets finished with the best record with 104 wins, and play the marlins in the nlds who got by the giants in the wild card. On the other side the twins travel to the jays, and the white Sox, who beat the Astros in their wild card game, take on the Al's best angels, who finally got trout and ohtani to the post season.

The pirates are only bringing 3 true outfielders onto the playoff roster, Bryan Reynolds, Ben gamel, and Jack suwinski. Josh van meter, Michael Chavis, and will matthiesson will be called to play outfield at times as they will be brining 10 infielders. O'Neil Cruz will start at ss, vogelbach and matthiesson will platoon at 1b, Chavis at 2b vs righties, and ke'bryan hays at 3rd. Diego Castillo will start at 2b vs lefties with Chavis in rf, and suwinski in LF permanently. Henry davis will start at catcher as he proved himself significantly during a 2 month injury of roberto perez, and perez will dh vs lefties. Rotation will be Zach Thompson, roansy Contreras, mitch Keller, and Bryce Wilson as starters, with Jose quintana and Quinn priester coming out of the bullpen as long relief. Bullpen hasn't changed either, with Stratton, hembree, and Bedner as the better relievers. Pirates are by far a huge Longshot vs the dodgers, but they will do their best to hang in and at least provide a competitive series before raiding away in this magical season.

Cardinals sweep Pirates in St.Louis, extend divisional lead

The Cardinals (65-57) swept the Pirates in a 3 game series in St.Louis to begin the week. The Cardinals now lead the Reds by 2.5 games and extend their lead to 4 games over both the Brewers and Cubs.

The series didn't lack excitement as the Cardinals won Monday night and Wednesday afternoon in walk off fashion. Nolan Gorman hit a 3 run walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 9th on Monday night as he pinch hit for Roberto Osuna who had just given up the lead in the top half of the inning. On Wednesday night, it was Lane Thomas who delivered a walk off single in the bottom of the 10th, scoring Harrison Bader. Tuesday night, the Cardinals got a dominant performance from Jack Flaherty in a 5-1 victory.

But it wasn't all great for the Cardinals in the series who saw Dylan Carlson tear up his left shoulder diving for a ball and will now miss the remainder of the season. They also saw Kirby Yates blow yet another lead on Wednesday afternoon, as his struggles in a Cardinals uniform continue.

The Cardinals will welcome the Nationals to town for a 4 game weekend series. The Nationals are in the midst of a heated wild card race in the National League with the Braves and Padres.

Cardinals place Dylan Carlson on 60 Day IL, activate Tommy Edman

The Cardinals have placed OF Dylan Carlson on the 60 Day IL with a shoulder tear. Carlson suffered the injury diving for a ball in the 4th inning of Tuesday's game against the Pirates. Carlson had seen time in Memphis but was recalled recently and was swinging a hot bat.

Tommy Edman was activated off the 10 Day IL to fill the roster void. Edman had been on the shelf with a groin pull.

Cardinals designate Kirby Yates for assignment - Recall Charlie Morton

The Cardinals have designated RHP Kirby Yates for assignment. Kirby Yates was a deadline acquisition from the Orioles in exchange for 3 prospects. Yates had 24 saves with the Orioles on the season and was expected to anchor the backend of a bullpen that was inconsistent. Unfortunately his time in St.Louis saw him blow 5 saves in 7 opportunities. He was hit hard in his outings and just never fulfilled his role.

RHP Charlie Morton was recalled from Memphis where he was continuing to rehab after being put on the IL back in June due to an elbow injury. Morton will likely be in the bullpen as the rotation is set, although a spot start here and there could be in play. Morton is 4-2 this year with a 3.62 ERA.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLDS Game 5

                      Final Score:
                      Arizona-11
                      Los Angeles-5

Diamondbacks win game five and advance to NLCS

Baseball is a wonderful sport. In game five of the NLDS, Carson Kelly had a game that most kids dream about. Carson went 3-5 in the series clinching game and all three of his hits were homeruns. In fact, Kelly's six RBIs from those homeruns would end up being the difference in Arizona's 11-5 over the Dodgers.

Something that made his day even better was that his first two homeruns came off of Walker Buehler, a pitcher who Carson had previously gone 3 for 19 against in his career.

With Kelly's first homer of the game, Arizona took the early 3-0 lead which stretched to 4-0 after his second home run, in the 3rd inning. Freddie Freeman and company kept the Diamondbacks on their toes briefly after they scored three of their own in the fourth inning which brought Arizona's lead down to one at 4-3.

Arizona didnt let that last long however as in the bottom half of the inning, they scored three of their own with a two run 423 ft bomb by Sergio Alcantara and a infield rbi single by Ketel Marte.

With the win, Arizona moves on to the NLCS to face off against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Angels and White Sox will face off in the ALCS after Chicago knocked out Houston and Los Angeles took out the New York Yankees who finished the regular season with the best record in the MLB.

Funnily enough, the Angels in some ways ended the season for the top three AL East teams. They beat out Toronto for the 2nd AL Wildcard spot, beat Boston in the wild card game and beat the Yankees in four games in the NLDS.

After reconsideration and discussion,* this is my new indians franchise on the all time rosters

                        Don Mossi
                        Karinchak
                        Clase

A combo of that mid 50s rotation and the 90s offense. I couldn't do Vizquel because of his off field issues, and Alomar was there so briefly. Fryman slots in as a low cost maintenance 3B, same with with Carlos Baerga who was electric 2B in the 90s and LaJoie can be an elite hitting DH. Sewell was his versions era of Altuve, great hitting small hitter, had more doubles and triples than Boudreau with only about 20 less HRs in 1 less year and was better defensively

We still have the best record in the league at 83-39, but the whole offense has gone into a funk - other than Ozuna.

We completed a 2-4 homestead against the Cardinals and Nationals. Avoided a sweep in the finale with a 2-1 win over Washington. We had just four hits. Ozuna had an RBI double and a solo homer. We're off to Wrigley for a quick four-game road trip before returning back to Atlanta. Hopefully the bats wake up.

Max Fried has entered the Cy Young conversation, though deGrom is still the favorite. Freddie Freeman has, at least for now, fallen out of the MVP conversation.

I don't but I like the idea. My initial thought is take top 2 performances (hitting and pitching) in AA, and AAA and raise potential 5pts. Bottom two performance wise, drop potential 5pts. I'd have to do it for all 30 teams though to be fair. Thanks for the idea, I'll definitely do something like this for sure.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLCS Game 1

                              Final Score:
                              Arizona-2
                              Milwaukee-0

Zac Gallen out duels Brandon Woodruff as Arizona takes 1-0 NLCS lead

Arizona's Gallen and Milwaukee's Woodruff finished #2 and #3 in the 2022 CY Young race and their game one matchup in the NLCS did not disappoint. Woodruff pitched into the 7th inning while allowing six hits and two runs. Gallen pitched seven full while allowing just 4 hits, no runs and striking out seven.

Unfortunately for Milwaukee Woodruff's two earned runs were enough for Arizona as Corbin Martin and Mark Melancon were also able to hold the Brewers scoreless as Arizona won game one of the NLCS 2-0.

Both Arizona RBIs came off the bat of Sergio Alcantara as he knocked Christian Walker in two times after walker was put on base by a hit by pitch both times.

The teams now look forward to game two where Arizona will look to take a 2-0 lead against the repeat CY Young award winner, Corbin Burnes.
