I really like this as well, may have to implement something of that nature for next season since I already have sent my 1st season into the playoffs, I might try something like raise 1 for ops over .800, 3 for over .900, and lower 1 for ops under .600, 3 for under .500. Maybe not those exact figures but just a little example for my idea (could use fip for pitchers or even war for both).

Heading in to the final series of the regular season and we're sitting at 103-56 and atop the NL West.
The middle of my lineup has just been deadly.
Juan Soto .324, 44 HR, 108 RBI, .416 OB, 1.051 OPS
Fernando Tatis Jr .298, 62 HR, 132 RBI, .700 SLG, 1.060 OPS
Manny Machado .278, 37 HR, 100 RBI
Josh Bell .285, 42 HR, 98 RBI
The top 3 for NL MVP right now are Tatis, Soto, Bell
Soto is also the leader for the batting title although in a very tight race vs Alec Bohm. Soto has the slight lead hitting .324 vs Bohm's .322.
Fernando leads the league in HRs with 62 and RBI's at 132.
Josh Hader has 9 blown saves this year and i swear 5 of them are from me alone since acquiring him at the deadline. For some reason I just can't use him.
Around the league division leaders

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLCS Game 2
Final Score:
Milwaukee-5
Diamondbacks-3
series tied 1-1
Brewers even series with game two victory
Game two saw the NL Cy Young winner, Corbin Burnes go against Madison Bumgarner. The D-Backs got to Burnes early after Wilmer Difo was brought in by a sacrifice fly by Ketel Marte after he was hit by a pitch to lead off the game.
Milwaukee wasnt down long however as Luis Urias also got to Bumgarner early, in the 2nd inning with a solo shot to left.
In the bottom half of the inning, Buddy Kennedy singled and was moved over to second by a Christian Walker slow ground out to the pitcher. Daulton Varsho was able to bring him home with a rbi double that gave Arizona the 2-1 lead.
That lead would hold up until the fifth inning when Michael Brosseau hit a two run shot to give the lead to the Brewers 3-2. That would be followed by two more runs for Milwaukee in the 7th inning as both Pedro Severino and Kolten Wong hit sac flys.
Arizona had a chance to cut into Milwaukee's lead in the 8th inning and they did but it could have been better. The D-Backs did get a run back after Wilmer Difo hit a triple which knocked in Sergio Alcantara who had walked earlier in the inning. At that point, there were no outs and it looked very likely that Arizona would get at least one more run on the board. Pavin Smith came up to bat after Difo and was unable to get him home as he went down on strikes.
Arizona's regular season MVP, Ketel Marte came up next and promptly sent a missile toward the right center field wall. In an unimaginable mistake, Difo must have assumed the ball was going over the fence or was going to be out of reach for Milwaukee outfielders.. unfortunately, neither happened and Christian Yelich caught the ball as Difo crossed home plate. He tried to get back to third but failed to beat the throw. That baserunning blunder ended the inning and eventually played into Arizona's defeat after Josh Hader shut them down in the 9th.
The series will now shift to Milwaukee where Arizona will have to win at least one game.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLCS Game 3
Final Score
Brewers-3
D-Backs-1
MIL leads series 2-1
Milwaukee take series lead behind solid performance by Freddy Peralta
The Milwaukee Brewers won game three by a score of 3-1. Luke Weaver didnt allow a hit until the third inning but in that 3rd, Milwaukee scored three runs with two rbi's on a double by Christian Yelich and another RBI on a single for Lorenzo Cain.
Arizona's offense was stifled for the second straight game and this time even more so. The Diamondbacks only got three hits which led to one run that was scored on a wild pitch in the 6th inning.
Milwaukee will look to take a commanding two game series lead when the two teams face off tomorrow.Comment

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLCS Game 4
Final Score:
D-Backs-11
Brewers-7
Series Tied 2-2
Hitters hit, Arizona and Milwaukee combine for eight homers in game 4
Three players hit two home runs in game four of the 2022 NLDS. Ketel Marte and Jordan Luplow accomplished the feat for Arizona as they batted in the #3 and #4 spots in the D-Backs lineup.
Hunter Renfroe who had previously been hitless in the series knocked two over the wall for the Brew Crew. Omar Narvarez and Luis Urias also added a single homer a piece for Milwaukee.
Along with the home runs, the teams combined for twenty-eight total hits in the game.
The difference of the game came in the third inning when Arizona managed to score six runs off of Milwaukee's starter Eric Lauer. Those runs were brought in part by Marte's first homer of the game and Luplow's second.
The teams now prepare for game five, the last game scheduled to be played in Milwaukee. The projected starters are Zach Davies for Arizona and Alec Bettinger for the Brewers. The 26 year old Bettinger finished second in NL rookie of the year votes after he compiled a 18-11 record in 27 starts on the season. He also eclipsed the 100 strikeout mark but did leave some to be desired with his 4.44 ERA.

Cardinals take series against Nationals in St.Louis
The Cardinals (68-58) took 3 games of a 4 game series against the Nationals over the weekend in St.Louis. The Cardinals now lead the Reds by 3.5 games and the Brewers and Cubs by 5 games.
The Cardinals won Thursday and Friday thanks to some hot hitting, but dropped Saturday's game due to the bullpen blowing up. Sunday saw Jack Flaherty do what he does, a complete game shutout.
Nolan Arenado extended his hitting streak to 20 games during the series.
The Cardinals are off on Monday as they travel to Chicago for a 3 game series with the CubsLast edited by countryboy; 08-13-2022, 05:30 PM.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Cardinals take series against Cubs in Wrigley
The Cardinals (70-59) took 2 games of a 3 game series against the Cubs in Chicago to begin the week. The Cardinals extend their lead to 4 games over the Reds in the Central.
The Cardinals won the first two games of the series 7-3, then 5-3 as they got timely hitting and great bullpen work. Nolan Gorman helped things on Tuesday night launching a go ahead 3 run homerun in the 9th that made it 5-3 as the Cards added on two more. On Wednesday it was Harrison Bader with late game heroics hitting a 3 run triple in the 7th to make it 4-3 at the time. The Cards added one in the 8th. On Thursday the bats were silent as the Cards fell 4-1 to the Cubs.
Nolan Arenado saw his hitting streak come to an end at 21 games.
The Cardinals will now head to Washington for a 3 game weekend series with the Nationals to start the month of September.
Cardinals recall Alex Reyes and Ivan Herrera for September call ups
The Cardinals have recalled RHP Alex Reyes and C Ivan Herrera as their 2 September call ups. Reyes who was the NL Reliever of the Year in 2022 was optioned to Memphis in early August to work on getting his mechanics right and his command. Reyes has a 4.32 ERA and a WHIP of over 1.5 thus far. But in Memphis he pitched 7 innings recording 15 strikeouts and giving up one hit and one run.
Ivan Herrera was recalled as the Cardinals wanted to have a third catcher for this stretch as they try to manage Yadier Molina's workload over the final 30 games of so. The hope is to have Molina as rested and healthy as possible for an October run should the Cards get to the postseason. Herrera has played in 2 games in the big leagues with 3 at bats. He has zero hits.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLCS Game 5
Final Score:
D-Backs-7
Brewers-5
Arizona is one game away after a victory in a back and forth game five
Luke Weaver was pitching a very good game five in the NLDS. He made it through 4 innings without allowing a run. That strong start was backed up by four runs for Arizona which were thanks in part to solo homeruns by Christian Walker and Carson Kelly.
That strong start would come unraveled however as Milwaukee was able to take the lead with five combined runs in the 5th and 6th innings. Four of those runs came via a pair of two run homeruns in the bottom of the 6th inning. One of those came from Willy Adames that was followed by another by Rowdy Tellez.
That lead held up until the 9th inning. That 9th inning looked like it would likely end in a Milwaukee victory as star closer Josh Hader came into to close out the game.
However, Arizona played the matchup game, as pinch hitter Jordan Luplow came to the plate for David Peralta. That move would pay off when Luplow singled to right field. His single was followed by a Buddy Kennedy double which puts runners at second and third with no outs.
Hader tried to overcome that terrible situation with a strike out of Christian Walker who was previously 3-3 for the night. After the strike out, Daulton Varsho hit a ball to short stop that scored Luplow to tie the game at 5 a piece.
After the game was tied, Sergio Alcantara and Wilmer Difo walked to load the bases. Those walks brought Pavin Smith to the plate in a dream scenario, 9th inning, bases loaded with two outs. Smith lived and excelled in that dream scenario as he hit a ball down the right field line that resulted in a double and two RBI's that gave Arizona the lead.
Mark Melancon was able to come in and get three consecutive outs in the bottom of the inning to close out the game and put the Diamondbacks one win away from at trip to the World Series.
The teams will now have an off day as they travel back to Arizona where the Diamondbacks will look to close out the series in front of their home fans while Milwaukee will try their best to push the series to a deciding 7th game.

Cardinals drop series to Nationals in Washington
The Cardinals (71-61) dropped 2 games of a 3 game series against Nationals in Washington over the weekend as their lead over the Reds shrinks to 2.5 games. The Cubs remain 5 back and the Brewers are 6 back.
Matthew Boyd got rocked Friday night as he gave up 6 runs on 10 hits in just 4 innings of work. The Cardinals were absolutely hammered 11-1 as Juan Soto returned to the lineup for the Nationals going 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns and 5 RBI's.
Jack Flaherty got the ball Saturday and pitched well but the offense couldn't solve Patrick Corbin as the Nats would win 3-2. The Cardinals led the game 2-1 going into the 7th, but Tyler Webb would give up a 2 run shot to Josh Bell that would put the Nats ahead 3-1.
The Cardinals avoided the sweep Sunday afternoon as Kwang Hyun Kim was masterful after the first inning. After yielding a 2 run homerun to Byron Buxton in the 1st, Kim would pitch thru 7 innings giving up the 2 runs on just 3 hits and striking out a season high 10 batters. The offense wasn't overly productive, but Justin Williams and Tyler O'Neill combined to go 6 for 6 with Williams getting a RBI single and O'Neill a 2 run triple to provide the scoring.
The Cardinals are back at it Monday as they welcome the Brewers to town for a 3 game series.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be playing postseason baseball in 2022. After dropping 3 of 4 in Tampa Bay, Toronto swept New York and, despite losing 8-1 in Game 1 of its final series of the regular season against Boston, clinched its postseason spot when Cleveland fell to Kansas City.
Blue Jays will be the No. 2 Wildcard, and will play either the Rays or Yankees. Tampa holds a 1-game edge for the AL East title.
Toronto saw its chances of an AL East title evaporated, largely thanks to a 1-6 record against the Rays in September.
The White Sox clinched the AL Central and the Angels have wrapped up the AL West, as Seattle struggled down the stretch.
Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Los Angeles (105 wins) won the NL Divisons, with Miami and San Diego the 2 wildcard teams.
Blue Jays have 2 more games against the Red Sox. Will be resting as many players as possible in preparation for the postseason.Currently Playing:

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks NLCS Game 6
Final Score:
D-Backs-8
Brewers-6
ARZ wins series 4-2
Arizona advances to 2022 World Series!
A year after winning just over fifty games, the Arizona Diamondbacks are set to represent the National League in the 2022 World Series. Getting to this point wasnt easy as the D-Backs had to fight hard against the NL Central winning Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers also finished the regular season with the second most wins in the NL (98) behind only the Diamondbacks who finished with 102.
The NLCS was an excellent series in which every game aside from one was decided by a difference of two runs. The one game that had a wider margin of victory was Arizona's 11-7 game four win.
Game six appeared as if Arizona was going to run away with it early on after they got to Brandon Woodruff early and made him throw over thirty first inning pitches. Along with the pitch count, Woodruff also gave up four runs in the first inning of the game. Three of those runs came off a Christian Walker double with the bases loaded.
Woodruff showed his resilience however and was able to bounce back, holding Arizona scoreless for the next four innings. During that stretch, Milwaukee's offense also fought back and ended up taking a 5-4 lead into the 6th inning.
Arizona's rookie Buddy Kennedy was able to retake the lead in the 6th with a two run shot that knocked him and David Peralta in. But still, Milwaukee continued to fight, knowing that their season was on the line.
In the 7th, Lorenzo Cain hit a lead off solo HR to again tie the game at 6-6.
In the bottom of the same inning, Arizona also rallied behind their home fans who cheered them on as they scored two runs to take the lead and eventually, the win 8-6.
