    BOX SCORE

The Tigers won game 1 of the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 Friday night. But it wasn't easy. Toronto took a 1-0 lead in the third, on a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. solo home run, and the lead held until the 8th. The Tiger hitters couldn't get anything going against Jays starter Alek Manoah, who allowed just 3 hits through the first seven innings.

But it all changed in the bottom of the 8th. Rookie catcher Kyle Dutcher led off the 8th with a solo home run, tying the game at 1. Manoah gave way to Yimi Garcia, who promptly gave up back to back home runs to Javier Baez, and Juan Soto giving the Tigers a 3-1 lead. Gregory Soto pitched a perfect 9th innning, for his first save of the post season, securing the 3-1 win.

Starter Casey Mize was outstanding. Mize tossed 8 innings of 4 hit ball, allowing just the solo home run to Gurriel Jr. Mize struck out 12.

Game 2 will be tomorrow afternoon at Comerica Park in Detroit. Tarik Skubal goes for the Tigers. Jose Berrios toes the slab for the Blue Jays. Game time is 1:05PM EST.

The Cardinals bats were fairly non-existent in the series, but thankfully pitching was on as the Cardinals only scored 9 runs in the 4 game series, but still came away with a split. Adam Duvall broke out of his slump recording multiple hits in each of the 4 games including 3 homeruns. Tommy Edman continues to be a concern going hitless in all 4 games with 10 strikeouts.

The Cardinals will be off on Monday as they travel to Minnesota for a brief 2 game series with the Twins at Target Field.

Nolan Arenado records his 1500th career hit

Nolan Arenado recorded his 1500th career hit on Saturday with a RBI double in the 3rd inning. Arenado is hitting .267 with 6 homeruns and 20 RBIs this year. Congratulations to Arenado on his 1500th hit.

If the Cards get Soto in real life do you plan on mimicking it? I know you’re in 2023 but it would be tempting to do it.

Angels CF Mike Trout hits the IL yet again this season. Out for 2-3 months. It will be another injury plagued season for Trout. Only played 36 games in 2021, and with a long IL stint early in 2022 he's only played in 26 games so far. This will keep him out at least late August possibly until mid September so he will again not even play 50 games this season.

What a terrible blow to the Angels who are only 2.5gb of first place Astros.

The Reds finally win their first series of the year. After splitting 4 games with the Dodgers they took 2 of 3 from the NL West leading Padres.

          Game 1 10 innings
          CIN 2-7-0
          SD 3-11-0

          Game 2 10 innings
          CIN 8-9-0
          SD 7-7-0

          Game 3
          CIN 9-9-0
          SD 7-7-3

It looked like game 3 was also headed for extra innings but a timely move to pinch hit Mike Moustakas for Kyle Farmer resulted in a two run homer to break the tie and give the Reds the win. Newly acquired Michael King closed the door on the Friars for the save.

          NL Central
          CHC 11-8 _
          MIL 9-11 2.5
          STL 8-10 2.5
          PIT 8-12 3.5

I don't plan to trade for him. I'm in 2024 so he is a free agent after this season, so I don't want to give up assets when I could sign him in the offseason should I want to add him to the roster.

My outfield is set right now (I don't use DH in NL) with O'Neill, Bader, and Carlson. The offensive and defensive production by this 3 is really good, so no need for an upgrade.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Cardinals probably have the best overall outfield in baseball. They cover a lot of ground defensively and are solid at the plate.

Cardinals sweep mini series against Twins in Minnesota

The Cardinals bats were on fire this series recording 21 hits and 14 runs in the two games including 6 homeruns, 3 triples and 5 doubles. Adam Duvall led the way with 3 of those homeruns and 8 RBI's in the series.

Texas Rangers Season update (Season 4 MOM)

Its been a while since I updated. But anyways season 3 was pretty much a disaster as we won only 69 games. We looked like a AAA team in September as practically every good Major League was on the IL. So far in 3 seasons I have won 56,71, and 69 games. Going in to season 4 which by the way I'm almost at the end of April, I am just wanting to play meaningful games in late August and September. Here is what the Rangers look like in season 4

C- Luis Torrens- Had an Ok season last year/ Avery Wynns Backs up
1b- Position of weakness- Signed some FA named Justin Yurchak and Wynns backs up
2b- Marcus Semien- Great year, but missed half the season with injury
SS- Corey Seagar- Was tearing it up last year then missed all of August and September with an injury
3B- Josh Rojas- Great year last year, got him in a trade deadline deal for Joey Gallo
LF- Steele Walker- American league Rookie of the Year Last year
CF- Harrison Bader- Got him in FA last year- He was terrible. Needs to bounce back
RF- Tyler Oneill- FA signing this year. So yes Country Boy 2 of your Cardinals are starting in my outfield

SP- Musgrove- Great Bounce Back year last year
Jack Leiter- Sophomore Slump- Needs to step it up
Chris Paddack- FA signing made All Star team with sub 3 ERA last year
Dane Dunning- He needs to pitch better
Jake Latz- Rookie won job in Spring

Cardinals take series from Yankees in the Bronx

The Cardinals (30-16) took 2 games of a 3 game series against the Yankees in the Bronx over the weekend. The series win now extends the Cardinals NL Central Division lead to 6 games over the Brewers. The Pirates have fallen on hard times having lost 10 straight.

The Cardinals won on Friday night in thrilling fashion, scoring 5 runs in the 8th inning after trailing 3-0 to earn the win. Nolan Arenado and Gio Urshela were Yankee killers as Arenado singled home Harrison Bader and then Urshela came up 2 batters later with the bases full and hit a grand slam for his 5th homerun of the season. Giovanny Gallegos would close out the Yankees in the 9th striking out Judge, Stanton, and Gleybar Torres to earn his 13th save of the season.

On Saturday, the Cardinals were simply overmatch by Gerrit Cole. Cole would go 8 innings allowing zero runs on just 1 hit and striking out 10. He was pulled after 112 pitches. Drew Streckenrider would earn his 10th save of the year retiring the side in order in the 9th.

On Sunday, Jack Flaherty took the mound for the Cardinals but would struggle thru 5 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits, but the bats came to the rescue again late, this time scoring 4 in the 7th and 3 in the 8th to blow the game open from a 3-1 Yankees lead to a 8-3 Cardinals victory.

The Cardinals return home for a 4 game series with the Pirates starting Monday night. The Pirates who at one time led the NL Central have lost 10 straight.
